For everyone that thinks that the tea is given away, it isn't. England is paying you in ships, British Pounds, and possibly the capital to get started. The price of silver was going up. England was on the gold standard, so it needed to buy its silver from other countries. In theory, it would just be simpler for England to pay you in pounds, get all of your silver from opium sales, spend it all on tea, and keep your income and expenses for Pounds and silver separate to avoid exchange fees, which were much greater than then now.

I always get to the final couple years and can't seem to buy tea fast enough. It would be really nice to have amounts larger than 30 crates. You have to push that button a lot to get 400/500 crates of tea. Love the game though! Addicting... like opium and tea.

It would be helpful if we could see what our tea goal is, not just how angry people are. I really like this concept, but I just can't tell weather I'm winning or losing. Also why do we lose our job when Britain's mood is *high*? Shouldn't low mood be bad instead? Or maybe rename the meter 'anger' instead of 'mood'?

I like the graphics and the sounds - very smooth - but I'm having serious trouble telling tea chests from opium chests and especially buying from selling. The first several hands I played I thought I was buying stock, and was waiting for the lowest price. This game has real potential, but when doing a triangle trade, it really, really needs to be clearer than "X crates for Y money."

Developer should do same game based on the mexican war, would be a world success lol. Vote up if you agree. P.D. Great game 5/5.

If you think you're giving away free tea, you're not. You're just pocketing the profits of your shipments. For example, let's say you sell 600 billion cups of tea. Sell each cup at 1 pence net profit, that makes 290 million pounds profit. That's 21.3 billion pounds in today's prices! Sadly, the Chinese only bartered in silver, and Britain wasn't going to open its treasury and give its silver to anyone, least of all China. In other words, your opium/tea business will be worth more than the software empire of Bill Gates (80 billion USD), but you can't use your profits to get any more silver coins. I think something the developers didn't think of is that just because you have to spend your silver coins on tea, doesn't mean you have to spend silver coins on opium as well. Allowing the use of English currency to buy opium would have added an extra layer of complexity and common sense to the game AND lowered the difficulty a little. It'd also show you you're actually making money. Sigh -_-

So... I have to spend silver to get opium to get silver to get tea to give it away to increase Britain's tea demands to lose money to try to get more to get risky deals to lose my boats to lose good opium deals to lose tea to lose British tea demands to lose business. In other words, you've screwed yourself from the very minute you enter the tea business.

You guys feeling angry about getting robbed by the British? Free tea? Risky opium? Ridiculous tea demands? Congrats, you comprehend about 1% of the Chinese rage at Britain when it actually did get China addicted to opium.

How is it that England has to pay me 0 for tea? I also can't sell my ships when I need to, and that aggravates me. Can't you make it to where England actually PAYS you for your work, AND you can sell your ships whenever? It would make this not so... impossible and frustrating. Even IF I get close to the end, I never even get CLOSE to 80mil for the badge, let a lone finish it.

In hectic times, having the "being caught dealing" popup hinders with open deals. Whatever choice you pick, the "fade out" is in the way of being able to click on a deal waiting to be accepted. Even if for a slight moment it is too much and during a chaotic amount of trade going going on, every unnecessary hindrance is too much. This GUI look-and-feel "feature" is in the way of gameplay, please fix it.

It would be better if the speed of the buying opium and tea would be the same.. not the tea slower.... it's a major disadvantage..

i think this game is fun, however it gets pretty hard by the end of it. and i agree with mnenemth that you should be able to sell your ships whenever you want to.

It's not a game of economics, it's a game of addiction and what people do to fulfill it. England wanted tea, so they poisoned the Chinese with opium to get their tea because they couldn't take no for an answer. Then they went to war over it.

Regarding mantil's comment, how could you possibly have any competitors when you are giving the tea away for free? I'm pretty sure this guy has cornered the market.
