NOOOOO Another upgrade game, now I will be forced to not only play it but be addicted to it and keep playing till I get all the upgrades.

A very well balanced game, the advantages that certain unit types have over others are very efficient, though it would have been nice if you had some units that can both fight from a distance and up close like the skeleton warriors in the last levels, it would make up for the fact that most of the time the melee warriors get stuck behind the ranged

i think we should be able to stack the xp if you replay or go multiple lv.s in a row not reset every city you defeat..

Okay so this is a good game but there a ton of problems with it.
1) As many people have said units need to be able to pass through each other, having guards waiting behind a archer while the archer gets slaughtered just doesn't make sense.
2)The Berserker and Dual Wielding units are just ridiculous, the only enemies that can really counter them are the units that have tough, but by the time you get Tough units you've already had to go through 10-20 lvls against the berserkers without a single counter to them.
3) There are way too many infantry units, any enemy with +X against infantry will pretty much demolish your team.

For all the people asking how to defeat berserkers, they're a cost 20 unit, so I think they're meant to be tough, they won't be easily beaten 1 v 1. You could use scouts, but I used 1-2 guardsman followed by a skirmisher and an archer. Pretty expensive way to deal witih them though, but theyre expensive to deal with when you face them. The top tip for beating is probably: farm a level once or twice to get research points and spend it on Military Tradition since it's cheap holisticly.

This game is great, and deserves a better rating. It's extremely long, with over 6 chapters. They're all fun, introducing new enemies often which keeps it exciting. There's limited grinding (I've only had to replay a mission once) and the difficulty level is pretty decent (a little on the easy side). If you liked the Warlord series, you'll enjoy this. It's pretty much the same thing with more units and enemies, a longer story, and different graphics. 5/5.

Couldn't keep playing the game because of the Merlocks. There's strategy, then there's giving units 40% block chance and health regen.

I really wish there was an option to make the text in the tutorial appear faster and/or all at once. When you read faster that the text appears on the screen it's a little annoying.

Like all games like this I think your melee and cavalry units should pass through your ranged and support units to fight at the front.
It would make it easier yes, but allow a better tactical situation.

I've completed the game and have begun legendary mode. Firstly, thankyou very much for adding a new game +, because they're always awesome. The game itself is great fun, an excellent time waster, and thank god units don't have cooldowns- money is a much better system because it allows for huge charges. Units look very different from each other and have good designs, so that's cool. The academy is done well, and having fast-forward as an option is good. Music and sound are nice. I also like the optional towns that unlock new units, but does anybody skip those? Love the abilities you've applied to them all, such as fear and unyielding. That's all the good points.

BUG= XP points aren't adding up. Once I finish a level the total goes down to what XP point I currently gained. For instance. On a level I gained 23000 points. the next level I gained 27000 points but it only says I have 27000 points instead of 50000 points. Needs fixing otherwise I can't play.

In the later levels this is the best strategy. This also is a okay strategy for early levels. Then upgrade eveything that has to do with calvary and swords (start early). Also upgrade the money start out to at least a hundred at the start. Then every time a battle starts wait for the first enemy to spawn. Then spend your 80-100 starting dollars all on scouts in another lane. Right behind them wait for your money to charge (upgrade coin generation if this is a problem) then buy a banner gaurd. An enemy may come in contact with the scouts if so its not that big of a deal. Note that many units will make it to your cam. Ignore them. Then start putting other scouts in other lanes. When your wave power bar is full use it on engineers who repair the camp powers because the starting out money upgrade also increases the engineers abilities. The enemy should have zero health. Then wipe out the rest of the enimies and you win with about 80-100 health left. THIS WILL MAKE THE GAME EXTREMELY EASY.

@elijahpbolware: I think that's part of the strategy of the game that units occupy blocks and can't be passed. The point of making 5 hammer guys in a row is that you just made a really bad squad. Think of your men like units, if it helps. No good commander sends wave after wave of tanks, regardless of changes in enemy tactics from jeeps to RPGs.

Balancing of costs could be improved. Compare Bone Fiend vs Lurker. Fiend has + 2 vs light units, Lurker has + 4 vs ranged, + 40 hp, + 10 attack, & poison. Naturally, they cost the same.

Really nice game, but you don't get any XP at all from lost battles and you get half XP from repeated battles. Those things only seem to make things take longer rather than adding anything good. Also, the choice of units was a bit too skewed towards sword and spear wielders. But even with those things, and a few other minor things, I'd give this game 4/5.

4)Enemies with parry should NOT be allowed to regenerate their health while they parry, I've had a single Merman thing walk through my whole team because every time he was low on health he just started parrying and regenerated all his health. The same with enemies who double their damage at low health, and also have parry. I've seen them just slaughter a whole line because they were killing my men with 1 or 2 blows
5) Why don't the Shield Maidens and Templars have a +X against undead, the only units with that ability are the priest and priestess who are completely useless on the front line.

Bad points begin now: I don't find having the enemy capable of instakilling any fun; I really don't like the poison ability. There's nowhere near as much cavalry as I'd like and there's WAAAY too much melee-infantry. Lancers have EXACTLY the same stats as Scouts, but with better abilities that make them cost much more; I find Lancers totally redundant. Even when fully upgraded I think the Priests' healing ability too underpowered and only makes negligible difference. I think healing and damage increase, etc, should be able to have two or three stacked per line maximum, not one. All form of range units are underpowered because, unless you send them all together and THEN an enemy spawns, only the front unit actually attacks, or unless the range unit is at the front. Limiting War taxes to 1 upgrade for legendary mode makes the game annoying, not difficult. The library's third space remains empty at the end of the game. The game is very fun, so I'll give it a 5/5.
