For those curious about how to play Gemcraft post-Flash with the SuperNova SWF Enabler plug-in, use this address provided below by copying the entirety of it and pasting it onto the address bar at the top of your browser to ensure that it bypasses the ‘GameShell’ issue that have plagued many earlier games of Kongregate: supernova://play/?swfurl=https://chat.kongregate.com/gamez/0001/4871/live/gemcraft-kongregate.swf?kongregate_game_version=1214663642 Make sure that your latest installation of SuperNova works correctly, as it will not function if it cannot load games that can work fine without this bypassing of the SWF files here. As a tip for this game, try utilizing different gems and combining them for different effects as, although the early missions are quite forgiving in how well-optimized you are, later missions demand that you know the gameplay mechanics fairly well and will punish players for mistakes much sooner as a result!

quick tip: you can "super charge" your gems. Simply take a high grade gem of your choice and combine it with grade 1 gems of the same color. It will gain +1 to +3 points in min damage (even more on max damage) plus an increase to it's special. At a little most than the cost of making a grade 7 you could have a grade 6 with almost double the damage! was able to beat the final boss in one pass with just 1 of each color super gems!

@gamerscrul9870 I beat the final boss without letting it reach my tower, I moved my purple gems and cyan gems with it to bring down it's armor then had as many as I could fire at it on the final turn. Then as each gem got out of range, I used to to bomb the boss and was able to kill it mere seconds before it reached the tower

Finally finished it, great classic flash game
Was sometimes frustrating with the gems targeting something not as far forward on the trail, and not being able to upgrade gems in towers directly- but overall not much to complain about for a 2008 game

Great game! Would be nice if your previous best score was shown at the end of each level so you could compare directly

THe final level can be beaten by crafting a level 8 gem using the high grade starter gems and a few level 7 (I only used 5). Craft whatever dual combinations you can, then stock up on over 15,000 mana because you will have no choice but to banish the final boss only twice at most to land as many hits on it. Build the towers where you'd like to and use any cyan with any other colored gem to stun it and land a few extra hits and maybe slowing it down as well.

This game's hard badges are worth some 4h together, there are games with medium badges one can only get in several days worth of playing. And it's still alive after all those years - nice, solid, feature rich (for a first game in series) tower defense.

In lieu of that, I have to say that I still respect the game for what it is. The games I've come to enjoy were built off of it, and it still is the fundamental base for all of them. I simply feel like it doesn't catch up to where the others have reached, or even come close, really. I'd hope that they might give this one some love and bring it closer to its successors, but with Chapter 3 already in the works, that would be a long way off. If they don't, then so be it, but I'd like to see the original game with a little more interest, so here's hoping.

Gemcraft is a series I've come to enjoy over the years, but to tell the truth, the first one can't hold a candle to what it has become. Even the second game held at least a respectable amount of content to pull you out of a pinch, and had some variety to spice things up. Coming back here, I find myself playing this with a 'get it over with' feeling. There's no fit for a panic moment either, if you're falling behind, you're gonna lose, no questions asked.

Great game, even if it is a scary 11 years since I got the badges. The other Gemcraft are even better but that's no reason not to give this one 5 stars.

The last skill is way too OP. Once I unlocked it, everything became too easy, even the last levels, and that took over some challenge the game had before. But pretty good game overall!

How to win:
You have two options to increase your points: the mana pool, or calling waves early. The trick is to balance your mana between mana pool (an immediate cost with a long-term payoff) and gems (stronger gems allow you to handle earlier waves).
Strategy:
For the first half of each level, focus on mana pool. Invest your skill points in good starter gems that can handle the first 5-20 levels alone. Place the starter gems in towers, and go through as many waves as possible, calling early when possible, and investing all the mana you earn in mana pool.
Once your starter gems struggle to handle the monsters, begin buying gems. You should have a 1.5-3x mana gain multiplier. Use your extra mana to overbuild gems. Call waves early until the end.
This strategy will allow you to get 1.5-2x the glowing score on most levels.

Scrap that, 4 levels take over 2 hours because of the difficulty curve going crazy. Random waves with a lot of monsters that have a lot of HP and are fast.

Both the hard badges should be impossible badges, purely because they take many hours to complete. A 5 point easy badge in many games takes about 5 minutes, yet a 30 point badge takes like 10 hours or something.

Skipping waves adds a LOT of points. You need to defeat 7 waves without skipping to get the same amount of points as just clicking on the first wave in the beginning. Never leave a gap between waves, but also don't overlap waves if you can't handle them. The monster counter between parentheses shows the monsters that are waiting, so skip the next wave when it reaches 0. Don't use 3x speed too much because creating and combining gems and looking at when to start a wave takes a lot of time and you'll skip waves too late. Increase your mana pool, but don't overdo it, because you won't have enough mana to create new gems.

I'm used to upgrading a gem while in a tower from a newer game, so it's annoying to have to take a gem out of a tower in order to combine it with another gem. Also the fact that gems are random makes it harder to get the correct ones.

It would be nice if the skills showed how big the upgrade is which you buy. Like 1% more mana or 50%. How much more does each skill level give?

Guys, was reading somewhere about shift+B to throw multiple bombs (one after another or sth like that). Is that still possible? Doesn't work for me

My mother also throws jewellry at me when I hit her, but it doesn't hurt. This game's unrealistic. I don't get hurt by jewellry. No-one gets hurt by jewellry.

In response to meetad220, points come from 2 sources. You get points for killing enemies and calling waves early. You add a multiplier to these points by expanding your mana pool. The trick is creating strong enough gems to kill waves quickly while expanding your mana pool as much as possible. This becomes much easier with the level 40 skill, it allows you to breeze through most of the levels with a glowing frame easily.

jerk move to leave New Years remarks in a video game comments section. esp when you don't leave any comments on the game itself. ftr, good game, but i miss not being able to fuse gems on the towers. could save some time and risk not dragging gems off my towers in the early stages. must've been fixed in a later game. still need to finish this baby off, dunno why i haven't yet. ah, well. the day is still young. for me that is. once more, unto the breach!
