No fun with that stupid AI! It should shot on vertical and diagonal also... Actually a good game, but gets repetitive at least to the lvl I got. Firing on the wrong side doesnt happen too often, one annoying thing though is my ship not getting to the upper side of the screen.

m'kay- got another one- only 2 ships on the screen- mine and enemy flag ship- I'm full on broadside to his bow, and ALL MY GUNS FIRE ON THE WRONG SIDE!!! Yikes!!
I like this game- I really do. Unfortunately, I really like reading about accounts of ship to ship actions, too- sometimes it's annoying to know too much about a topic. If you want ideas about how to make this more "realistic" gimme a holler- I enjoy the game as is (fun shooter- too bad it gets several orders of magnitude harder at the end), but I'd really like help this be a "real" naval combat game, if that's what you're after.

Like the game! its been along time since I have seen a Flashgame like this one...however..
As others have said, The ability to go all over the screen, maybe difrent ships for the player?...
And guys for a storie, they are PIRATES after the TREASURE :-)

ignore nearly everything feldspar said except for maybe the story line thing... give us a little character development.

Needs a story line, slightly faster ships, ability to go past half screen, ability to switch between different ships, the last level shouldn't be 100 times as hard as all the other levels AND shouldn't take 30+ minutes to beat. I like how the ship actually acts like a real ship though, that's more then most pirate games can say. Also: Who am I fighting? British? Spanish? French? Other pirates? And how come they haven't already taken the treasure? And why are they just sitting around? And why doesn't my ship just go around them instead of fighting? And how am I upgrading my ship? And how is my ship magically repaired at the beginning of every level? And why do the ships have so much money on them if they're war ships? And how is it even possible to get the money out of the sunken ships in 3 seconds?

This game is far, far more entertaining that it deserves to be. I mean that as a compliment. It's so simple, yet the wonderfully amusing and, frankly, satisfying process of blowing the crap out of other vessels is just extremely fun and addictive. I'll only play through once, but I'm having a hell of a time in the process. Well done!

And Grapeshot isn't explosive, it is more along the lines of a shotgun shell. (The pic is of a little ball with a fuse)

Fun but slow and boring watching enemys going back and forth make them do more and make the pirate battles more exciting 3/5

I thought this was going to be like Ancient art of war at sea. Instead its just a shoot em up with wind. No strategy involved.

The game looks good, but even on the easy level you're faced with five or more enemies at the same time and it's very frustrating if you have a ship that fires its cannons on the wrong side (to the edge of the screen).

lol, you shouls really make this interesting, like give power ups, in game, for shot time only, so maybe, you can go faster?

In a certain sense, this is like a new take on the Alien Invaders theme. Kill the pirates ships before they get close to you. The simplicity made it a bit of a drag to play through the levels... everything was alike, the levels didn't change.
But the basic concept was extremely enjoyable. I loved the feel of the cannons and learning to hit the right angles. 4/5.

Perhaps it was a bug, but the wind only blew south, and it blew for the entire game. Kind of frustrating. I was pinned to the bottom of the map.

If I could place, and choose what type of cannons I got that would be great. Overall I like the game, but definitly change the style of enemy ships. Maybe even change the ship you get for every armor upgrade.

I've been waiting for a fairly realistic naval warfare game... this isn't quite it. Interesting anf fun, but needs tweaks- lots of'em. Like- saying what the upgrades are and how much they cost...a wind direction indicator... scrolling map w/mini global map (naval battles need more space than you've got here). If you were going for a fairly novel shooter- you've done well- but I'd love to see a game with more depth and realism.

As a simple game of piracy, I consider it a great game. It has a wonderful gameplay with great wind factors and other influences on the control of the ship. It has some problems, of course, but they can be fixed in a future patch. Altogether, naval battles combined with the thrill of heroic battles and with the fun of piracy, mounted on a good graphical engine and with a beautiful gameplay, makes a hell of a game. It can be expanded into a great game, but as I said, it is a simple game, and it's great as it is.

or better yet just leave it the way it is and make it like 2v2 you get a random partner :D or you could like make custom teams.
or if you can create a Fast enuff server u could make like 4v4
or 2v2v2v2
and make like Crews,gangs,nations,clans ect.

"Great game! I like this game. I would suggest making it like a mafia game where you defeat pirates to loot their land, and go into major cities to buy cannons, crew ect. The first thing to upgrade would be reloading time, than amt of cannons then crew, it makes the game alot easier."
without this .. this game is a 2.5..with that , its a 10/5
