Very nicely presented; I can appreciate the effort that's gone into this. My only complaints are those of other commenters- more content in general would be nice, as it's overly simplistic. The flying through space animations are kind of pointless seeing as you can't control the ship, so.. yeah. 3 for now, 5 if new stuff is added.

Its a good concept for the game. Maybe more interesting battles (ability to move not on autopilot). Kind of reminds me of starport GE.

The graphics and the game structure are very nice and clean, but the gameplay is too monotonous and simplistic. A little bit of creativity was added by the various mission descriptions, but it all just breaks down to:
- flying between planets
- destroying asteroids or enemies
I like the touch with the trading system though.
Looking at the features of this game, it is really well made, but it needs a lot more variety and as someone mentioned, having to fly between the planets yourself instead of using the autopilot would be a nice addition.
2/5

plus: quick and simple.
minus:
- could use a way to travel through open space (at least up to 3-4 distance).
- no variations in upgrades, encounters, quests.
- trading becomes useless when you earn ~15-20K.
4/5 in general. add some cool stuff and it'll be 5/5.

Tips for players: Get to level 3 before doing the L2 "Welcome" mission, and don't run 'valuable cargo' missions.
Suggestions for the game: Scale quest xp based on level of the destination system, and reduce the frequency of encounters. Add in tracking missiles or other alternate weapons if you plan on keeping the combat focus.

Another excellent variation of Taipan (I think the same as, but older than, Elite). I've always enjoyed this type, and the 3-D upgrade and simpler market/upgrade system keeps it to its roots. Yes, Caravaneer is a more fleshed-out game of this type, but there's still a lot to be said for nostalgia. 5/5. Thanks.

gameplay is simple, battles aren't really all that entertaining there needs to be more to them, and it feels like I'm shooting golf balls in to space

What's missing is a point to it all -- some sort of larger mission. What am I trying to do? Why am I doing these missions, gaining experience, etc? Make up something about princess or something :)

This game is based on a really old classic game called Elite. I played it at school when I was 14 (23 years ago). I was lost in space for weeks...

There's a good core concept, but the game needs a lot more variety: i.e. multiple types of weapons and enemies as opposed to the same ones that just get stronger. Also, it would be nice to have more control of the ship than just picking a destination, although it wouldn't be necessary.

@alectan: You need to turn your brightness WAY up.Anyway, I like the concept, and I actually like it better than Caravaneer. It's not as deep, but it's simpler and not as flashy. I love the low polygon count. Makes it feel retro :p

It was very interesting. The whole game's gameplay is simple, yet fun and intricate.
Needs a pause button and badges, though.
5/5.

Intresting game, but the graphics is too simple, gameplay is rather boring, i think. And I didn't find the pause option :(

Holy Jeebus!, I mean i've barely done anything yet but really nice work, controls feel good but can aren't strong enough and i love the "retro" new graphics good job 5/5

Frustrating gameplay. Pointless combat that is both boring and excessive. Three random encounters in one trip when I'm not even on a mission, with no chance to rest or recover or repair in between? Fail. Lots of Fail.

I thought this would be fun as I enjoy most space trading sims. It seemed like a simplified down version of freelancer at first then it became very repetitive and boring. The combat was atrocious as well as pointless and no way to escape it. The graphics were good for a flash game. the sound gets 0/5 as there is none a definite mood killer.
To improve it
-play freelancer and make it more like that and less like 3d asteroids with a subtle trading background.
-go play caravaneer and study the way the market fluctuates in it, mimic it maybe even improve it (ex use supply and demand)
-play a good space fighter (x3 reunion) and make the bloody upgrades do something else than just change numbers.
-add some ships
-Please put some decent sounds in it, some ambient mellow background music would be great. then if possible change it up when you enter combat (speed up the tempo add more instruments or simply just fade to a new song altogether.)
over all 2.3/5

higher shields don't seem to help as much as they should. Also more types of upgrades would be good, like faster speed, less pirate chance, a regeneration after encounters...

Traveling time takes way too long.
Unnecessary cutscenes of ship’s arrival and departure, especially when they employ the exact same graphics.
Too many random, repetitive battles; antiquated combat system makes it unbearable.
Not a true “trading game” as players spend more time clicking on asteroids and enemy ships than actual trading.
Has potential but shoddy gameplay downgrades it to 2/5.

Very promising tribute to Elite, but it still needs some bits added. The combat for example is kinda not particularly exciting. Still, great effort!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Too many fights, having to fight 9 times between each planet is really lame. Every fight is the same, theres no challenge, pretty boring
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
definitely needs new sets of items in higher level sectors. make em really expensive too cause its boring to be merchanting the same items in sector 2 as in sector 5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The game feels like it jumped straight out of the 90's. In other words, it's pretty primitive. A solid game, that's for sure, the 3D is used very nicely, but it needs more upgrades and more abilities to make a ship "your own" through customization to give players any longterm motivation. 3/5

What would be really useful in the mission details screen is a "Map" button, which when clicked upon pops up the map, centered on the destination. This way, you could see whether or not it would be advantageous to take a given mission.
