Under rating threshold (show) This game would do well if remastered. A few changes I'd like to see. Every nest should end with a Queen fight, with a chance to be a Razor Queen. As the end of a nest approaches, or if Hardcore Mode is active, the chance to encounter a Horror or Void Eater should increase exponentially. The same rule applies to Bounty Run. It is so rare to encounter one, let alone survive their entrance and kill them. As Awards are completed, unattained Awards should become visible. This motivates new players to continue playing, and gives completionist players a goal. Balance the power of each Reward. Outside of the Razor Glaive, the Reactive Armor and Hazard Suit have significant power advantages over the others. They are powerful survival tools that have no downside and require no extra attention. Nerf the damn Clutter! The Clutter is easily the most annoying and dangerous enemy on the field. If it would just stop retreating, it would be manageable.

Under rating threshold (show) I have found something super fun to attempt. Go into practice mode, choose horror and razor queen. Try to kill the razor queen without swinging your sword or using any special weapons. The point is to try and get the horror to accidentally kill the razor queen. For bonus points, try do it without the armor. :)

Under rating threshold (show) Julian, the biters always lunge at you in a perfectly straight line. You can beat them quickly and reliably by (1) stepping sideways to dodge the lunge, then hitting them from behind, or (2) swiping when they come close to sword range, so they lunge into the sword. Give it a go in practice mode.

Under rating threshold (show) To elaborate on the previous comment, it seems that there's a bug involving both stickie goo and inkie oil. It seems like when the goo runs out while a gloople is still skidding from the oil, that sometimes their speed increases too much and the go really fast.

Dec. 10, 2018

Under rating threshold (show) I can't reproduce these bugs, but it's fairly common for bugs to come up after a gloople is covered in in stickie goo. For example, sometimes biters and fuzzles will still leap when covered in goo; or on the flip side, will continue to move slowly and will not attack, even after the goo wears off.

Under rating threshold (show) Minor interface tweak suggestion: it might be nice to have sprint-energy-left meter on the character like a health bar (or at least have an option to make it that way). It's hard to tell exactly how long to stand still to fully replenish unless you look at the top left corner of the screen, which is difficult in a game as hectic as this. (I also realize that there's a little puffing-air animation, but it's still hard to tell when the character is done resting, or how much you have left in the tank.)

Under rating threshold (show) If I could change one thing about this game it would be the reward system. If you don't know what the rewards are, how can you choose which one to pick? I was stuck on the hard badge, having played the big nest about 100 times without ever reaching 250 kills. Then I switched to bounty mode, picked up a few extra awards and got a reward key, unlocked reactive armor and beat the big nest in just 2 tries. If I had chosen a different reward I might have been stuck indefinitely.

Under rating threshold (show) While I don't think that the number of killed Biters isn't exactly a "random factor", I will have to retract my hypothesis anyway. I did the test in the other direction and got a Razor Queen when killing no Biter at all at a small nest. So we can safely rule out at least that the probability of a Razor Queen appearing is exactly the number of Biters killed. And anything else would be just weird, so yeah. It makes me a bit sad, since I was really convinced of it. On the bright side: I just killed my first Razor Queen. And on the bright and confusing side: I got both the award for killing a Razor Queen as well as the award for killing two Razor Queens for that.

Under rating threshold (show) I finally got it and defeated the razor queen by distracting her with the gun and attacking her from the side lol. And yeah it does just seem like random chance. I don't think I was doing anything special or different. I'd just whittle the nest down to 3-5 and wait for a queen to spawn. Every time I would get an Amaglam, red queen, or razor queen. Seriously the Amaglams are annoying as hell because you can't push them off the screen, they split up, and they count as gloopies so they force you to prematurely finish the nest before you can get a queen.

Under rating threshold (show) As a developer and a huge amorphous lover for 10 years now, my theory is that RazorQueen spawns after discovery all amorphous together with some random seed (ie 35%). It just makes sense, from a game design point of view: RazerQueen is a reward for the player who kept playing the game until the end and appreciates the deep of this game. From a game developer point of view: we are f*cking lazy, the faster way to add this "bonus" amorphous would use the red queen condition along with something that we already keep track and add some random seed to make it even rarer.

+ - !

(3)

Ralidon

Sep. 10, 2018

Under rating threshold (show) I'm absolutely sure that numbers of killed Biters don't have influence the spawn of the RazerQueen in any degree. This game has a truly well-crafted game design, having some random factor like this one decide how the final and most important "amorphous" appears would break the pattern how this masterpiece is designed.

Under rating threshold (show) I kept playing the Small Nest and getting the Razor Queen at the end without meaning to, even more often than the normal queen. Needless to say I died over and over before I realized I could do Practice mode against it. Now I can't seem to stop getting the regular queen at the end of the small nest, damn.

Under rating threshold (show) "Queen's blades are light enough to be quickly swung" if the queen's blades are that light, how the hell does it punch straight past my giant heavy how-the-hell-do-you-swing-that sword like it's nothing? Did we make our sword out of carbonated paper mache?

Under rating threshold (show) Is it just me, or are queens massively easier to kill in nests than in practice mode? I killed one in my first encounter in a nest, but I've been trying to kill one in practice mode for 10 minutes with no success.

Under rating threshold (show) So, I did some testing, and I do think my hypothesis is correct. My first Razor Queen in my current run of this game appeared after I tried to kill only Biters on the small nest. Normally, Biters seem to have a spawn rate of something between 5 and 10 percent. I then tried killing about 25% which did not produce a Razor Queen but a normal Red Queen in the end. But when I tried for 50% it worked. Now I have two working hypotheses: Either a Razor Queen will spawn in a nest with more than 50% killed Biters, or after exactly 100 killed Biters, since I do remember that she also spawns during bounty runs. My favourite theory is that every time a normal Red Queen may spawn, it has a chance of being spawn as a Razor Queen with a probability that increases with Biter kills. Meaning that killing 100 Biters will ensure that a Razor Queen spawns instead of a Red Queen. This also accounts for Razor Queens being possibly spawned at every other opportunity, just with a lower probability.

Under rating threshold (show) why did they feel the need to make queens resurrect, killing them with nothing but your sword and some honor is already near impossible, now you're saying I can't just use some dishonor and blow it up?

Under rating threshold (show) @vonRibbeck I've posted the bestiary entry for razor queen here: https://imgur.com/a/CFCB6G0. I think it seems likely that you're right. It seems to hint that the razor queen is actually found in nests with more biters than normal, but I'd like to test a bit. BTW: on his Newgrounds page the creator has given some interesting information: Razor queen doesn't spawn before your bestiary is full. He also recommends waiting in the end of a nest to find RQ.
