Amazing way of representing the spirit of one who does not know he is dead, fulfill his final purpose, or 'unfinished business' with this world, which is to lift his love from her depression at losing him and bring colour back to her world. The closer she comes to the world, the less visible, more shadowy and ethereal you become.

I cried so much after finishing the game. I will always take my time carefully and make the most of every second of my life... no matter how grey it seems.

my theory is they were in love and the boy was dealing with depression, committed suicide and then felt bad that he had left his girlfriend there. so, he did everything in his power to make her happy again.

this is how what I feel my mom is doing to me. I am the girl in the story, and she is the boy, I lost her almost 4 months ago. :( she brings color to my gray, dark world, nice explination LittleHat

This was amazing, from the start to finish.I'm glad you made this game, and I hope you will continue to make games like this. This was not only fun, but it was also a piece of art.Using LittleHat's idea, I came up with what I thought each piece had to deal with.It is sad, but in some ways it reminds me of real life.Still, really good song.(Song? Game and piece of art*)

I hate the ending, it made me cry. I have lost my closest friend just recently, and went into deep depression. I can relate to the girl.

im starting to get it when we whent to that grave that was ours we died and she is sad so we give her these idems so she can let go of us her worlds gray but we add the colour to her world so she can forget about us.

I realized he grows more 'see through' with every object you turn in, and the yellow flower is by a grave, you can put two and two together and figure out that LittleHat's explanation is almost spot on.

Though I feel these explanations are very valid, I have my own.
As it's clear, the story starts out black and white and ends in colour. I agree with the lifelong journey explanation (Thank you deathkknight) but I'd like to expound upon that. As time goes on, it's your quest to satisfy the girl and make her happy. Soon colour fills the world and as colour does, you fade. Now, I believe that this is because as you endeavour to make her happy, you disregard your own needs, thus shriveling away. May that be over a year or a full lifetime, that's is not clear (Though based on the items collected from a clockwise order the latter is assumed). All and all I feel like this game was beautiful and it deserves more recognition for it's deep meaning, despite the simple appearance. ∞ out of 5.

My interpretation is not quite as happy as the others. I took this from a different perspective. The boy loves the girl. That much is apparent in how out of his way he is willing to go to make her happy. But she isn't happy. And no matter how much you give her, she is never happy. At the end, he gives her everything he can, and she just gets up. Could this be a sign of leaving?
Although, this was a very thought provoking game. Another possibility I see is that perhaps, the two people here simple represent people. The boy is somebody whom fills his life with joy by giving to others. But that is not a good thing. Those who live by giving to others often receive nothing in return. When this boy was finished giving, he vanished. People who live on the gratitude of others suffer from this plague, as well as the one at the start of the story. Their life can never be filled with color unless they are helping somebody.
My own two interpretations of this wonderful game.

I think it would have been cool to add words to it, like an actual story for every item you collected for her.. all in all, a great game i love the sunflower at the tombstone, im not sure but I think it was your/my grave.. it made me sad..

At first i thought he was alive and she was just ignoring him, but when i saw he kept getting less substantial with every gift I began to wonder, and when i saw to tombstone that made me sure that they were lovers and he died. After that i realized that she had brought him back to Earth as a ghost because of her grieving for him. So he tries to make her happy again by bringing her gifts. All in all, IT WAS REALLY SAD. :'(
