Final Boss:
For this use the knockback missiles, the secondary doesn't matter (haven't tested freeze)
When the fight begins go to the opposite side of the arena once he's out of the wall circle him CLOCKWISE the knockback missiles will destroy his bullets and minions
If you head in the opposite direction you might die.So contine this until he dies.

i hate people who try to change games just make the same old stuff thats fun this isnt fun why is this a game just make a normal space shooter or nothing at all no negotiation not an option do it or do nothing thats all you can do :)

7 mother ships, 16 gun towers and 8 gates, and i still thought i hadda chance at surviving infinite mode.. well at least my upgrading fix is sated.

add challenge if possible like "finish the first level without being hit when you play the boss" or "do the last level with the missile only"
it will add a lifetime at your game because after 10 min i've finish it and playing with the boss is not really cool because the boss is too "big and slow"

Have you considered putting Nyos on Steam, or perhaps the iOS App Store? I would gladly fork over $5 for a game this excellent, especially if it meant I could play it anywhere, anytime, instead of only on Kongregate.
This game is actually very, very enjoyable! The target painting mechanic is fresh and awesome. I loved the upgrades, and the graphics and soundtrack seemed like they fit the theme of the game very well - the whole game had a certain binding aesthetic and there wasn't a single aspect that seemed out of place. Could have maybe used some more levels, but Infinity Mode fills that gap adequately. Would love to see a sequel or perhaps a port to Steam or iOS.
5/5, excellent game you've made here. :)

maybe something for when you upgrade everything? one thing many games do that I hate is when you get every upgrade, it just stops there. Something I would like is when you fully upgrade everything for the first time, some new upgrades become available?maybe you could unlock upgrades per level, so when you have everything and get to the final boss and just can't beat it, you would have some more REALLY EXPENSIVE (because it's so late in the game) upgrades that are really useful and help you along. That way, even people without a mouse could kill the final boss or finish missions. or maybe after you die enough times, something happens that makes the stage easier? I don't know, something along those lines.
Nice ideas, particularly per level upgrades; perhaps I will do this in a future game. I think that having really expensive upgrades to help with the final boss encourages too much grinding, however.

Storyline: Here are some bad guys. Shoot them down because explosions are pretty. Graphics: Beautifully stylistic with a retro-arcade feel. Music: Catchy and fun to listen to. Gameplay: addictive, and somehow managed to make money grinding is fun. Could use a fullscreen mode, but going by it's current strengths, 5/5.

Really fun game. I enjoyed losing control of my ship when kinetic missiles explode. The targeting system is original, and fun to use.
Still wondering what killed the final boss : area of effects, or some missiles hitting him.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Spyro Drag, if you use missiles that explode, then you get kickback. Of course. The Shakes on your screen, are cause by missiles. If you don't want shaking, then you must not like missiles... :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
ok, there needs to be an option to disable screen shake, every time i get to many shakes at a time, my ship some how ends up ont the other side of the screen before i know it. also, i think you should be able to upgrade the missle damage, and kickback, as well as the speed, and turning arc. because some of the missles never make it to there target instead they hit other targets be accident. also, make the thing bigger, or zoom out, because its hard to get your intended target with such a small screen.

never played a game like this before. i really liked the run and gun sense of it. the target locking was something i had never seen before and was fun to play with. 5/5

It is kind of awesome to kill the final boss with the unstoppable juggernaut that you get for beating him.
damage dealt: 2194
damage received: 3918
total time: less than twenty seconds

When I went up against the gun platforms level, I felt as if I wasn't doing enough damage, perhaps it was the enemies that got in the way of my missiles?

Very very fun and interesting. I actually found the final boss surprisingly easy... just a bit long. The only major issue I can see is the comparative lack of information, especially in regards to powerups. I would have upgraded 'missile' earlier if I had known it doubled my firepower. Super job, keep up the good work, and a sequel would be welcome... perhaps with a tech tree that allowed combination of missile types... heh heh heh.

Hmm, it wouldn't make sense to fire off a single missile while the other 3 are in recharge. Think you could implement a key-modifier that allows for multiple missiles to lock-on to one ship?

Two things. 1. I don't understand why accidentally running into enemies lowers my health as quickly as it does, especially on the final boss. And 2. The final boss: is there some sort of strategy to that thing or do I just fly in circles hoping that my mass of missiles kills him before his mass of missiles kills me? 5/5 because most of the game is fantastic and because the game is just so much fun to play.

Is it just me, or this game is 3.78 instead of 4.78 JUST BECAUSE STRUCTURES HAVE MILLIONS OF HIT POINTS? I couldn't destroy one gun platform on either of my coffee breaks today --- disappointing. We may need a slow but cumulative way to multiply damage so this doesn't last forever...

This game was enjoyable and addictive though, despite its name, was basically your ordinary shooter. 3.5/5. I would, however; like to compliment the creator of the game as he/she has taken on the opinions of many more people than most game creators.
You're right, Nyos is a very ordinary shooter. The game was a very different when I started making it, over time became more and more ordinary. This is actually a good thing, since early versions of the game were pretty rough. I kept the name because I think it sounds cool :)

Fantastic gameplay mechanic. Calling the shots rather than having to make them is awesome, so 5/5 because of that, and how it reminds me so much of RayHound.

i would like to see a game with the orgin. it would be nice to know what and why killer space ships want you dead. (idea) maybe they are from a different dimention!

The coin drop rate is pretty perfect, you are maxed out without grinding by the last level. The balance, though, does seem a bit off. You don't really need to upgrade health because you start with so much of it, enemies to so little damage and regen is incredibly powerful. Once you have kinetic missiles, everything else is rather pointless - the splitter missiles are especially weak in comparison.
On the other hand, the game is really fun with the easy difficulty - an addictive diversion that seems perfect for an achievement game (such as using only weapon X, #of kills, time trials, etc.) Or... with more enemy types and wave patterns (and maybe weapons/options?) you'll have an awesome all-round arcade game where the kill-stuff difficulty is low, but timing and strategy matter. This game just has so much potential. Keep up the good work!

I could really use a zoom feature... I love the pinball effect and I'd like to be able to appreciate it from farther away.
