Under rating threshold (show) This game was so difficult at first. After level 10 I'd fail time over and again. Now I cruise through to Level 15, with many more correct answers in first three tries. Practice to mastery. Also the occasional hint can reframe your thinking about the letters. Fun and original game.

Under rating threshold (show) I just played this game for the first time and I like it a lot. I will be coming back for more, again and again - even though I really suck at this ;) It´s a fun game to play and that´s all that matters to me.

Under rating threshold (show) I find it quite hard with that little guesses. Even the games where you have to guess the colour then you get about 10 guesses, whereas here you have to guess the word within 4 or so guesses, and there are lots of combinations.

Under rating threshold (show) I hate when people complain "hard for a non native". So What? Music games are hard for the deaf, color games are hard for color blinded and well... I think everything here is hard for the blind. I'm a non native, but I enjoyed this game. Did not get too far (got tired fast), but I surely will return.

Under rating threshold (show) Inconsistent scoring is a minor annoyance. My final score doubled correctly on the last page of the game as per the rules, but only the single score shows on the high score list. This happens often.

Under rating threshold (show) PART THREE I even went through the exercise of quiting each level when my score was not up to scratch and ended up with about 800000 which of course is not doubled but that would be 1.6m if you had a lot of luck. Like I made for myself. So A) It would be impossible to get above 5 million but 3 people have top scores above 5 million. B) It is very very difficult to get above 2 million in my view but possible if you get a lot of luck over 15 rounds Or were a scrabble champion or the like who could touch type at 60 wpm and think at 500 wpm.. C) Maybe I am just too slow or more stupid than I think, but I reckon there must be a cheat there somewhere but I can't work it out. But what do other people think? Other than that a very good game, obviously some of the words stink but thats to be expected.

Under rating threshold (show) PART TWO By my book the best you can achieve in one round is about 45000. So if you were very good you might average 40000. So 40000 x 15 = 600000. What about the bonus levels. My best score is 66000 on one. So lets give an average of 50000 which I think is too high. However 50000 x 7 = 350000. So a grand total of 950000 doubled equals 1900000 (1.9m). But in every game you will get words that have 3 or 4 solutions. That is it ends in -ive so it could be give hive dive jive live for example. You will have to get a hint or guess at least 2 or 3 times on average. So you can probably discount 50000 for those. Again with the bonus round the words get longer so take more time to type and of course letters are missing so I reckon thats another 50000 off. So that leaves 1.8m.

Under rating threshold (show) PART ONE I have probably wasted a month of my life on this game and played more than 200 games. My highest ranking is about 242 and yet I have been able to get 45 words in a row in less than 3 guesses. Mainly using hints and luck rather than any cleverness. I have also got through 15 levels without using hints. I am a native English speaker. I am a touch typist. I have a Masters Degree. So why cannot I acheive a higher ranking.

Under rating threshold (show) I need to get better at not spinning my wheels when I hit a flagrantly non-phonetic word like "asphalt." Losing on level 15 is a real bummer! I also agree that skipping over the given letters when you're typing out the word is extremely awkward, though there might not be a good solution.

Under rating threshold (show) A couple things: 1) You should probably make it so the game will let you type the given letter. It's constantly screwing me up to have to type "Time" as "ime" or "Tie". 2) Starting with the levels that give you a letter is actually harder than a level where you receive no letters. You can guess any word of the available letters (to see which are right/wrong) on the no letter levels, but only a very small number of words with the given letters, so you get less information. 3)The Hint letters should probably end up as Given letters, rather than being able to overwrite them. I guess that puts you kind of in the same boat as above though, if someone is trying to hint from zero letters to one. But at least at that point, they're opting in. The fact that hint letters are overwritable while given letters aren't makes it even more wonky when you're entering partial words, as mentioned in #1. Not a bad game, just needs the edges smoothed out.

Under rating threshold (show) @labridi: Although you can submit practically any English word, all the Mystery Words you need to solve are handpicked and shouldn't include any distinctly British or American words. Some words, like 'cipher/cypher', may have alternative spellings though. @wisygig: The game uses ENABLE wordlist to validate the words player submits, but the Mystery Words are handpicked (about 5,000 of them). @GameKultist: We salute you! ;)

Under rating threshold (show) Problem--you can't clear certain letters, only the last letter or all of them; this makes for slower guessing. As for the vocabulary, some of the accepted words are "British". The game accepted punty, cosher and cipher. None of these are common in "American" English. That isn't a criticism, but it does make it more difficult for some of us.

Under rating threshold (show) Nice game, however, the levels are in the wrong order. Since you have to submit an actual word, having a letter revealed actually limits the amount of information you can obtain, at least for a human player. As an aside, it'd be nice to know what word list the developers are using.

Under rating threshold (show) at later levels the time limit is too short in my opinion, making us need to just ramble in words instead of actually deducing them with the hints given. I like to try and think of the possibilities with the given options, but as you give me ni time for that it becomes more luckbased now, pity. btw, nonnativespeaker here, and i enjoy it

Under rating threshold (show) Hi all, thanks for the feedback! We'll work on the dictionary. However, a big part of the wordspecting challenge is (and will be) figuring out some of the more obscure mystery words just by narrowing down the possible letters. Think of it like cracking a code, where the meaning of the word is irrelevant.

Under rating threshold (show) Woot, another awesome word game, as usual withnew word games like this, the dictionary needs to be edited. For you non-native english speakers who complain that it is to hard for you, DON'T PLAY IT! But for the love of God, don't down-rate it because of that. This is the reason so many good word games have such crappy ratings!
