I read a lot of the comments/advice before trying for the hard badge, so here's my two cents. To get the hard badge I used 3 ninjas and a cat. Made all the waves relatively easy until wave 18, where I got slaughtered almost immediately. Thankfully, I'd reached 30,000 during wave 17. I had tried many other formations before this one, and the only other one that got me close was 4 ninjas. With all the other formations I could barely pass wave 10, if that. The cat is useful for the later waves when the enemies have more hit points, especially the slug/goo blobs that chase you. I just used the special whenever those enemies appeared, and it took them out quickly. Good luck and happy gaming!

Any tips for how to survive level 18? It's kinda ridiculous. I've tried two ninjas and two witches. Two ninjas and two cats. Three ninjas and a cat. Two ninjas, a cat, and a witch. A witch, ninja, fairy, and knight. It's insane.

not to mention that the progressive starter upgrade doesn't really curb the escalation. and Wave 18 damn near froze my computer. when 3 minibosses showed up i thought it was over. when more started popping up and riddling the screen with bullets and miniboss instances (must've been at least 8), i just let 'em kill me off. my comp can deal with bullet hell. that is not bullet hell: it's instance hell. dunno how i was even s'posed to win that.

Upgrading the special attack increases its recharge rate - for the Cat the frenzy lasts untill the bar is 50% recharged. This means that when you upgrade the special it actually lasts less time and DECREASES your damage. This needs a fix (+) so the developer sees.

Hard badge guide: Get a team consisting of 3 ninjas and 1 cat. You'll need the "maelstrom" of firepower for the later waves. Put ALL your points from the beginning into the Candy stat, until you have it maxed out. After you've maxed out candy, upgrade at your own will. The only (optional) exception is a single point in Magnet to get those "hard-to-reach" candies. You'll need to kill 99% of the enemies and pick up 99% of all the candy to be able to rack up 30k points before wave 18. At wave 18, a plethora of mini-bosses will spawn and kill you relatively quickly - unless you're quick with the special and adept with dodging. A good milestone to have is 10k points at wave 10. It's boring to fight through the entire game with 0 upgrades again and again, especially when you have the stats to ALMOST kill the boss in lvl 13.

I think this is great for what it was trying for-A fun little Halloween distraction. I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of a group, it fits with the theme and brings in the ability to mix and match abilities and stats based on your preference. The ninja is the public fave simply because spread attacks are a staple in scrolling shooters, but every character brings something useful to the table. Char select would’ve been much better if you see the character fire 4-5 times, then using their special during the selection screen. Also, the XP system does nothing but add artificial difficulty to the game, effectively FORCING people to grind out a couple ranks in order to have high enough stats to even think about beating the game. I would’ve preferred seeing the combat stats scaling much higher rather than having the bonus stats from higher ranks. That way you would actually notice a difference as your characters improve, and have more of a reason to take a character for their stats.

Surviving 19 waves for the hard badge does not make it an endurance badge. Papa's Pizzeria . . . now THAT was an endurance badge. Played it every day for two weeks while procrastinating during finals, and still didn't earn the badge.

Double ninja Double Cat is too good it simple beats everything else. Which has a lot to do with the fact that health and special are inferior to attack and speed in even quantities. Having these stats high lets you collect more candy and spec purely into candy. The combination allows massive wave clearing with its special and since the duration of frenzy is so long later in the game it has 90% or so uptime

Not quite enough strong options to keep playability up past campaign completion. I actually prefer 2 supers, 2 ninjas. what comes from behind isn't nearly as serious as those homing jerks. 4/5

So aliens make contact and observe local holiday customs by taking candy from houses. Then four young punks get angry that they weren't fast enough to nab some sweet treats and decide to commit multi-species genocide. Along the way they discover most of the aliens tend not to get in their way, and only about a quarter of the aliens are actually carrying candy. Nevertheless, the children TRADE what candy they DO have in order to arm themselves with superpowers. There is a particularly dastardly deal to upgrade "candy," which allows the kids to plant more evidence on the aliens, providing self-justification for their xenophobic ways. Congratulations, my four young friends: for your insatiable sweet tooth you have single-handedly destroyed all chances of interplanetary diplomacy. Who, I ask you, are the real monsters?

He's right about the 3x ninja 1 cat thing, btw. After a few waves, survival becomes endless cruelty that cannot be survived with any of the other units.

Amazing game though it lacked a button for turning around in order to shoot the enemies behind the player other than that keep it up.

2 ninjas in the back, 1 cat, and a witch make this game a cakewalk. For some reason the witch's effect and the cat's both stack, meaning you can get around that slow movement while covering the screen with bullets. (with a 2 second pause in between your volleys..) Other than that, I really enjoyed the game.

I agree with NanakoM, but I added one piret, two ninja and a cat, finihed all and achieved badge in survival. one think I'm not sure of, the max status to add is it +90. I finished the story with +90. Nice game and 5/5.

How about adding the ability to press the right arrow key to start the level? In survival mode it's annoying to have to touch the mouse when all I want is to get back to the alien killing.

the Hard badge was actually quite easy to get...
a class is only good if they have atleast one of the following:
special basic attacks, buff for the party and/or something to kill enemies behind
good are:
ninja, cat, witch
usefull but not that great:
rabbit, knight
rest is pretty much useless....
my favourite team is cat + witch in the back and 2x ninja in the front
got me to 30,000 points in survival no problem

The guaranteed winning combination is 2 ninja and 2 cats: I was able to get >30,000 points on level 17. .............However, it is worthy of consideration that the witches' special is the same as the cats, but the witches shoot faster and bring "+20 SPECIAL" -- making the most important thing - your special attack- refresh MUCH faster.
