It's a good concept.
Problems are that the game is very unbalanced. Seems you have to fight the same fight(s) many times to gain alot of levels before you can take on bosses and such.
Items are very hard to craft because of the very low drop rate of certain craft items.
Maybe add either a longer path to the boss's, more xp, nerf the bosses or a random fight place to alieviate the massive boredom and repetativeness.

It seems really fun until it goes all Elona-Shooter-style Hardcore mode on you and you die and get to start all over.

Oh yeah one more, I don't really dig how your monsters in your party dictate how many AP you have. If you're unwise and choose the 1/AP monsters you really are at a serious disadvantage. At the very least AP should be something that goes up with leveling (obviously multiple levels for 1 AP)

Quite a fun game, only real issues I have is that there's too much of a need to go back and fight already beaten battles to level up. I can't stand RPGs that absolutely require that you grind for XP for a long time. Also some neater monsters came out a bit later however really had no incentive to change them out since the ones I had were already leveled up and new ones start at level 1. Also an autosave would have been nice, because fights can go from relative ease to complete death sentence, e.g. the first boss fight was relatively easy, however the fight right after it (Why are there fights after the boss?) first two guys are easy, then the vampire completely eats me alive, solution grind on the next map come back and win, however I didn't feel like there was any real incentive to doing those after-boss fights. Boss fights should be a climatic finish to a level.
However overall its still enjoyable, Rudy has done a good job with his games.

To win against the 2nd, 3rd, 4th epic boss. you need the yashini, that medusa looking woman available after the first epic boss. she is immune to physical which is the major dmg the bosses use

I've really been enjoying this game on other websites. Glad it finally made it to Kongregate. Please add some kind of monster encyclopedia for enemies you have already encountered, so you are better aware of their weaknesses.

Why did the "retreat to cover" restart the whole game? If you're going to lose ALL your progress for it, it really should have a confirmation screen, or a "Do you want to save first?" option.

Extremely poor fighting system, when you look at the walkthrough you see that all final bosses get killed by spamming action point items and never let anyone except the player act. So the whole thing boils down to farming gold.

It doesn't save.
Lose or retreat from 1 battle and you have to start all over. :-(
The game has promise but that just makes it unplayable.

Well, I have to admit, as far as games go, and rpg's at that, this game is truly at the genre's peek of perfection. As for Kongregate, they'll most likely be seeing this game more and more often as a greater amount of players notice it. I only started the game an hour or so back, yet, already, I can tell that this game is worth a 5/5!
