realistic my ass - this is not a game, its a tedious spreadsheet disguised as a game - why do i have to talk to the cop every friggin time? just give me my grand and let me start - why do i have to travel in real time in the desert? the bad guys are going to get me anyway - this is why chance and community chest cards were created -- i load up on food and water and half way thru the desert i have to chuck it away and then im dead? can i please please play the game a bit before i have to deal your inferior gameplay? you want to do an economics game? do it - but dont burden me with the time spent just getting my friggin caravan going

also, if you ever find Caravan X early in the game, TRY not to destroy it. You'll get the world's WORST reputation for that, becomming one of the worst enemies of the state.
I did that. It was fun.

AUGH! I just realized something. It's virtually impossible to visually tell between Caravans or Bandits. out of reflex, I always click the Fight button instead of registering there are options between Fight and Cancel when I pass over a caravan. What would be handy would be if there were different colored boxes to tell which group you were attacking, Bandits or Caravans.

Just a thought - In a game where one big mechanic is having to throw stuff away in the desert if you cant carry it, shouldnt there be a mechanic where you can randomly find stuff others have thrown away? That'd be cool.
Also, there should be a mechanic for riding horses, otherwise the limiting factor is your people's top speed, thereby rendering horses effectively useless.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hmm... one more thing, horses can move 15KM per hour, and yet, even if a horse is completely unburdened, you can't ride it, so your max speed is your slowest PERSON'S speed, is there a way to change that?

Here's my results from experimenting with stats:
1. Physical Strength increases strength and HP by 10 per stat, as well as increasing carry weight by around 3
2. Agility increases movement speed and AP in battle by about 1.5
3. Accuracy increases your sniping by 10 per point with small other bonuses to doctor and mechanic
4. Intelligence increases exp gain and veterinary skills

Joy, I had started playing this the other day. I come back today to play some more today, only I didn't save. Would be nice if that was pointed out that this game doesn't auto-save at all, unlike what would seem to be about every other game here.

I'm walking around with over $16,000 worth of katanas stolen from robbers, but nobody wants to buy them. First world problems.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There's no forage to be bought in town. Rats. I'll have to sell my horses. Wait, they're not buying horses? Maybe because they can't feed them. Now my horses are going to starve and there's nothing I can do.

Very fun game, but your choice of color scheme makes much of the text very difficult to read against the background, particularly the distances between towns on the map.

When facing a group of like 20 men: hide behind a donkey and hope they all shoot each other to death. Works quite well.

First off, I like this game in a lot of ways. Lots of interesting trade and combat variations not always seen in similar games. However, there are a few things I'd like to see different:
1. A "skip" or "alternate order" of combat; this is primarily due to several of my characters getting stuck behind each other or a wagon, and the only option is to "end turn" for them.
2. Combat Maps -- not a fan of having to search all over the map EVERY battle for the enemies, and then scroll across the screen for EVERY attack. In general, I'd like to see more automation or a streamlining of the options here. If the battle is a foregone conclusion, why spend 10 minutes having to go through each attack?
3. Save feature IN town.
4. Friendly fire -- I know it's more "realistic," but I think it's an unnecessary complication that gums up the strategy.

Buy leather in Poca Cosa and sell it in Caganel. Buy shoes in Caganel and sell them in Drushlak. In Drushlak buy clothes and medicine and sell them in Poca Cosa.

Ah, this reminds me of Frontier from Armor Games. Although this one is much more realistic and interactive (with actual combat), the other one is superior artistically and in UI (seriously it's hard to see small white letters on a white map).

what the hell is going on, i attack the caravan i see at the very start, and its me vs like 50 people. and it takes 2 minutes for the opponent to have their turn cos they have to move each unit??
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Just hit the main caravan tab to determine your traveling speed and resource consumption. Use the map to find distance to your destination town.
Distance/speed(kmh)/24(hours/day) gives you days to travel to next location. Just multiply your resource needs by that number to find out how much to buy for the trip. Once that's done, just load up on what you plan to sell and you're good to go.

So why is it that this ninja clan with 10 people get to move all their people in one turn, but I can only use one player per turn... I rated 1 star. Note this is also after getting so close to reaching the goal, on my second run around the map... also I couldn't find the save button... it should either autosave or make the save button obvious. (yes I now see it is in options menu, but the tutorial said nothing about saving in the first place!)

Ok Guys, We are under attack. Everyone dismount and meet up in front of the carts...except you Joe. You go 50 yards away from the rest of the caravan because you are that cool.

You have NO idea how much water food and forage you need... theres no indicators. THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. Also, it wont let me fill all my bottles even though i can have plenty more cargo...

I've loved this game ever since it came out and I still love it to this day over the second one. For anyone having trouble, go here http://caravaneer.wikia.com/wiki/Slightly_Unofficial_Guide_To_Caravaneers,_The

I really wish there were a "you are here" indicator on the map because half the time I have no idea where the hell I am. It wouldn't be THAT unrealistic - you'd probably have some idea of where you've gone in real life.

Everybody who finds it too difficult, make sure you pick a high-AP character to play with, like Lisa Mitchell. She can get off two rifle shots per round, and with that and one helper (again pick a good shooter/high AP) you can survive the first trip and get another rifle.

Not a good game. Too easy to die from robbers. If you die within two minutes of starting the game, what's the point in continuing?

I love how the people in the caravan end up accidentally shooting each other. Overall a pretty fun and entertaining game.

this game is impossible I get attacked by robber after robber after robber after robber after robber before I can even get to the second town
