How is this game rated so well when it's such a blatant money grab? Perhaps some folks are fine with rewarding greed over innovation and skill, but not I. I'm fine with well-made games offering some microtransaction possibilities, I mean heck, that's what Kreds are all about. But the ones that give such a distinct advantage to people willing to part with money so easily, are just ridiculous.

Choose to train in something else at the start of the game ignoring the tutorial because it's annoying? be prepared to sit there for 6+ minutes waiting until you can train again because it switches to the rush button otherwise, preventing you from doing anything at all. That is bad programming, and not something you want happening with the early game experience (did this to see if the Devs had planned for this... obviously not). Also, where your ally's speech box pops up is exactly enough to cover the ok button to close out of menus. Really bad location planning there (Again, purposefully testing). Should seriously look into fixing such obvious bugs in the tutorial sections before releasing a game, especially one you want people to spend money on.

As a fellow developer of online multiplayer games, I found there are certain defined limits to what you can charge players for, and what you should not. This is definitely crossing that limit. Charge players to buy things in the game that are fun, but not useful. Decorative items, items that let them personalize their characters BEYOND the free-to-plat limit. I think of ROTMG as a good example. You don't need colors to be as good as everyone else in the game, but they are their to make you stand out for the crowd.

For a flash game it's actually quite good. For the price of tokens it's abysmal. To put into perspective a beginner ship + a full complement of token only upgrades is 60 tokens which is roughly $10. Top Level ships with all the best upgrades meanwhile are 1175 tokens or going through kred-dollars conversion about $150. Compare that to other gaming options. For the price of a single fully outfitted ship you could have 10 months or more of a big time subscription mmo, at least 2 (Could easily buy many more) brand new console/pc games or heck even a game console itself wouldn't be much more.
Granted you can manufacture ships that are close to the same level (still a pretty hefty gap) but that means playing a game that already limits your play time(through fuel) for weeks or months to get the required equipment. I could maybe see paying $20-30 for a ship in a game like this provided there was somewhat more varied gameplay but as is the prices are beyond ludicrous for the quality of game.

Uses the most exhausted and formulaic layout of mmo to the point where I completed the tutorial without reading any text.

On another note. This seems to pretty much be a less expansive version of EVE. And looking at the pricing of even beginning ships, the cost of EVE is cheaper.

Good god. Synapticon... Why??? You make games with good concepts and then trash them to utter crap. Please, I beg you. Learn how to make a game that appeals to more people than those that simply have a load of expendable income the size of a small country.

I actually thought this was an updated version of the original Redshift game: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Weasel/redshift?acomplete=redshift
Judging by other comments, this is yet another game that shamelessly promotes spending money on a god damn browser game.
If I wanted to throw away my money, I'd play WoW.

Great concept, horrible execution. I understand developers have to make money, but this is getting ridiculous. I'd much rather pay a 5 dollar monthly fee for games like that rather than having to pay money to refuel. Developers like you and the ones that overly take advantage of DLC on current gen consoles are ruining the way gaming works.

popped in to an exciting new game, and within seconds knew that I'd be here just long enough to post a snarky comment, rate it a 1 (because 0 isn't an option, boo), and then leave. Go back to facebook, scamapticon.

I keep getting black screens. It's only after I go into a menu, but it gets annoying having to refresh every time that happens.

oh wow, i jsut saved ur entire planet/way of life, and it cost me tonnnes of fuel, money for repairs inbetween battles, and othr stuff. my reward? not even enough money to repair my ship ONCE

A new low - I'm almost getting used to various timeouts every 2-5 minutes, but when a timeout popop appears behind a "Jumping to" window, I can't even click it. Sure, no big deal to just reload the page myself.
I have to laugh when a browser game that so regularly needs a page reload that it has custom error messages for it is broken to the point where I can't even click on its "oh yeah, it's been 90 seconds, time for a new reload" message.
SO glad I didn't put any money into this. I'd be trying to get a refund if I had. I'm voting you one star only because I can't vote any lower.

why use the repair bay when you can just click your health and buy it anywhere... repair bay should be cheaper if not free....

It doesn't seem this game is playable for non-paying players. After I reached level 20, when I enter a hostile zone for mining, Anteras for example. I found that I would be killed in 10 second, and eventually I used up all of my credit for repairing the ship and need to wait for repairing. As a result, the actual playing time in the last few days is less than 10 minute excluding the training. I believe that many players will be forced to quit for similar reason.

I have played the game extensively and waited till I reached level 20 before I comment.
Overall I feel the game has great potential. But currently there are two major flaws.
1. The training system gives a huge advantage to those who have been in the game a few weeks earlier. Nothing wrong with a bit of value for veterans but this game punishes newcomers.
2. As reported before the ships and items you can buy are unbalanced. So unbalanced that a pilot with a paid ship and cannons can take out in a few volleys a non paying pilot with a 400k ship and good skills and equipment. Again nothing wrong with paying pilots having an advantage but how much of an advantage is an issue. Granted one could still craft the Nighthawk but to get the rare resources needed would easily take a month and Kongregate funbase is not known for its patience.

of course after playing for a bit, you burn way too much, your shields are not really great and missions start to repeat themselves over and over during the later missions. Training takes quite a bit of time also after level 2-3!

First came across this game ages ago on facebook. Has been updated loads since then Battle system has become far more fluid and straight forward but you burn fuel way too quickly since it's become 1 fuel per attack round rather than 1 fuel per battle started like it used to be. Good concept though :)

Has potential, but the fuel system detracts significantly from the game. Particularly with missions that seem designed largely to consume fuel.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fuel system makes this game an unpleasant experience. Fuel is used for almost everything, from fighting to moving between maps. It's not really fun when you run out of it during combat. Seriously, there's a lot of better free games, that don't favor money spenders THAT much. Am I the only one who gets the feeling synapticon is hoping for easy money? Pay2play stuff is 3-4 times better than free2play here. I'm not going to comment that, or I'd end up using some rather rude vocabulary out of frustration.

plus you have bugs in the cash system....how the hell you think people will think on pay when thy are not even sure if they are gonna to recieve what they paid for?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
good game.....horrible bugs.......hummm no free 1 cash for lv up?.......not an oportunity to get on a daily reward or random luck guess?.......ยด15 minutes playing and 1 hour waiting?.....no chance to get free fuel?......damnn.....forget what I said this is worse than tyrants bonds thing.....
