It's nice to know a game like this exists, but I couldn't understand any of the characters' motives at all. I think I might have gone straight to the apathy pipe in the warp zone myself. Or the narcissism one. Well done though, the metaphors all seemed effective to me.
Thanks a lot for playing! Yeah, it might be a little complicated since I wasn't really sure what to make out of Hans' actions. When I was getting into puberty stuff, I kinda thought the way Hans did. That's why I made the game. And with this game, I tried to find answers for my thoughts/actions. If you wanna read more blabber about it, click on "Extras" on the menu.
Thanks a lot for playing! Players like you are one of the reasons I want to make more games.

Oh come on, let us have our own interpretations too! Its nice for the developer to explain the game meaning but if you go too certain pointing it out to us, there are emotions to explore that are up to every person in particular, and we can't explore them that well if we are guided so much.
BTW amazing job!
well about that... for a few days I was really depressed by the whole "OMG HE SUICIDED DAMN" comments, because that wasn't my intention at all. But I'm trying to be cooler with it. My next game will be definitely more open to interpretation.

The story was amazing! Even though it wasn't really a happy ending, both me and Hans learn something from the quest. :)

if you take the top path at the end you just end up having to jump back down, theres nothing up there
this game didn't send off a very good message to me, if your ugly, learn to accept it, you can't have the pretty girl, "explore yourself" then go jump off a cliff to your death and end up in the afterworld which looks like the friend zone in black and white

Very good. Nice gameplay pacing that made a fun experience that didn't detract from the overall story, and an excellently done story at that. Very interesting and meaningful themes contribute to an excellent flash game in almost every aspect. I honestly can't find fault with this game. Were this game not free, and I knew how good it was, I would gladly give cash hand-over-fist. Fantastic game, 5/5.

I'm sorry, but I didn't like this game. It's not that I didn't enjoy it because of the story, just that how it was put didn't make sense for me. Why doesn't it care about that you like a girl just for her looks and popularity, and then whine that she doesn't like you because of your lack of those things? Other messages (told in the description) failed to show for me, and I just felt like it was too forced. I just saw a whiny boy doing a tantrum over a girl he thinks he deserves. I acknowledge the other meanings wanting to pop up over that but for me it didn't work... And with the name I thought of something very different (this isn't an ode to pixel days)...
I'm sorry for the harsh critique, and I know I'm gonna get downvotes, but I just wanted to state my opinion in a respectful way. Nevertheless, the music is awesome, the game itself is well polished, and the puzzles are on a good path - wish they were harder. I think the idea behind it all and the narration have to get more work.

So, this is a story of a depressed teenager that has a mental breakdown involving dissociative disorder and eventually kills himself by jumping off something high. Yeah, that was depressing.
the whole point of the game was that the teenager didn't want to adapt to the real world and he tried to create and utopia. The jumping part represents the collapse of the utopia, coming back to real world

Awesome, loved the story behind it. Its not that "ugly" people don't have a chance, its about accepting yourself obviously! Loved it :)

touching story, great soundtracks, lots of nice puzzle design... and a very nice ending. what is this, if not a great game? ty

Very nice game. I don't understand why do people think Hans commited suicide, to me the jump was more of a 'leap' you have to take before going to talk to your crush, instead of simply stalking her and creeping somewhere around. It's a jump from the colorful dreams to concrete reality. She didn't give a damn about him walking up to her. But he finally got the courage to do so. And he stopped imagining it, instead trying. Now he can accept the reality and move on to making himself what he would want to be. 5/5. :)

Hans is really a prisoner (note the barbed wire at the end of the game) who dreamed of having a girlfriend. Instead.....he got a cellmate named Tyrone.

Could you add a skip button for the credits? And probably a level select so you don't have to restart every time you want to play a certain level again(the warp room)

He made a machine that could change every single person's appearance... But can't make a machine to change only himself?

Great game Talha, the game was great and proved a deep matter for most people: Don't Change for Others, just be yourself and accept who you are because every one is made differently, none perfect. Change isnt always for the better, and if people cant accept who you are or if you dont live up to there standards, dont bother trying to change. Be Yourself. 5/5

i liked it, however i think the flying should have looked more like flying rather then suicide XD, other then that 5/5!

so he realized he couldn't change others to be equal and he couldn't change her mind to want him so he jumped off a cliff and committed suicide. the schoolyard/prison where the girls wouldn't talk to him is hell

Seems a good game... but i got stuck in the level where everything fall down on you and no restart level button... shall i restart everything?

It says in the description that "This game is made completely by one person, and that is me."
(long list of end credits)

the "no one matters - find yourself" suicide jump at the end was a bit of a downer. But I do think some kind of end-of-game acheivment for scaring off all the birds in the different levels would be cool.

I feel like the story is that he figures out that it's not the cheerleader's fault he's a loser, so he jumps off a building to kill himself.
