The hero seems a bit hard of hearing.
Oracle: "Please find me a seed"
Hero: "Kill all the creatures of the relic, gotcha"

I love this game, but I feel like there should be more to the story. I found an interesting thing. I explored my way up to Trohn too early, and I met Sardol at the entrance. He said something like, "You must think you're clever to come north so soon. You're not nearly ready for this, fool. Get out of here." He looked big and buff, but he wore red and black armor, like the armor you get. What's interesting is what he used to look like. If you find the statue of Sardol, you learn that he sought to kill the nine Creatures of the Relic, and that he did kill the Goreback, and he looked just like you! In the statue, he is shaped like you and has two eyes, instead of one like most people. It just seems so intentional. Oddly, it seems like Sardol killed the Goreback ages ago, yet he seems to be current. Also, the Creatures of the Relic are a mystery. What Relic? And if they are so good and shouldn't be killed, why do they each have their own domain, and what purpose do they serve there?

You know who the *real* villain is here? It's this "Watcher" guy who has the power to drop meteors in your path but lets you go on a mindless killing spree when he could have just handed the seed to you. For the record, *all* those killings were self defense, I totally yelled "It's coming right for us!" before each one!

Two problems: Needs a map, and I'd love an option to toggle the daylight cycle: it just gets too dark. Otherwise I love it, 4/5 as is.

This game really needs a Reset Level button, 'tis far too easy to get yourself into a situation you can't figure out how to get out of, or completely wreck your ability to continue because the only way to reset the area is not possible to use.

I really enjoyed the game (even with that screen in the lava dungeon), some small things I enjoyed were worth mentioning, first if you start a new game and decide to explore before beating the first boss the watcher is nowhere to be found. Also like how you're able to hear about the first relic creature before you beat the first boss... And can't get into the bar to hear about the darkness until after the first boss. Another interesting thing, there are only 5 people with 2 eyes in the whole game, the witch, music guy, yourself, the Watcher, and Sardol... Makes you wonder how the oracle got the seedling for his first tree, and what happened to Sardol. Then at the end, how you look pretty similar to the frozen monster, and to think that the watcher did that, really just adds a whole lot of weight to the bloody ending... Also, thought there'd be more to the bloodless ending, maybe fighting the monster once you walk near it with the amulet or the hero becoming a creature of relic himself

You should've been more descriptive in just how you define "r = reset." I thought it meant that you just kill yourself and start over the level; now I have to do everything all over again, but I don't have the time or the patience to do that. For everyone that doesn't know, 'r' resets the entire game. :(
I'm sorry! I guess I never really considered that "restart" would mean anything else, but I added a little more to the description in the controls on this page.

If they didn't want me to kill the relic beasts, they shouldn't have put a sign detailing how to murder Shieldspire RIGHT next to him.

You know, this game raises an interesting question. How do you stop the hero if he has misguided, or even downright evil intentions? You kill him and he gets to try again...

Got stuck in the fire cave. If you don't get the gold key you can still get all the way through to the tree with the hole in it. And then it's impossible to get back. Be warned.

dear Mr. Developer,
i know you dont want to make a map, but i hope you reconsider. it doesnt have to be a detailed map, maybe just boxes that stretch out to other boxes, just to show what room you are in, but just for the overworld maybe. the dungeons dont need maps, the players can figure out where to go, its after the dungeon, when there is currently no objective, that we may get lost. so maybe make a map that can be as under detailed as you want, just show us the possible ways you can enter and leave an area.
sincerly,
a concerned gamer
+ if you agree

Wish I could kill the oracle. Seriously. If not for him and his tree plentiful of lives would be safe. FOR ONE FRIGGIN TREE.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Waitaminnit. If the creatures of the relic are the good guys, then why must you kill them? The bad guy here is the oracle. He lets you kill the "good guys", Just for a stupid tree. What a @#$!.

It's a great game and I really enjoyed playing and most of the music so far. Only complaint is the extreme difficulty to proceed after being trapped in the Bosiniad level. It is seldom that I ragequit a game, but this made me do this since I would have bitten my keyboard if the hammer pushed me into the lave one more time. It's nice to have some tricky obstacles to overcome, but this is just ridiculously hard for a way you have to pass if you wish to continue your game. This would have been more appropriate for a pathway to an optional bonus or easter egg - or to achieve secondary goals. Other than that, great game so far.

Has anyone else noticed that the names of the dungeons are anagrams?
Gurdernoud=Underground
Rostef=Forest
Lacste=Castle
Trohn=North
Woshad=Shadow
Ghethis=Heights

The day/night cycle is more annoying than anything else. You should let us have the option of disabling it, along with the double tap dash option.

I disagree with the watchers assesment. Most things hurt me if I approached, or if they approached me. I was justified in killing every one of them.
Well the idea is mostly that they're animalistic, for the most part, and you're the one moving into their territory. For example, the Tentacled Beast attacks you when he sees you, obviously, but he isn't to blame for it--you came to him and threatened him in his home. It is your fault for seeking out danger and killing things that wouldn't try to kill you if it weren't for you invading their home.

I gotta admit, there were some parts that frustrated me, especially sections where you had to stay on the path without getting knocked out (because the controls were really slippery and not very precise), but I got past it and got the end. Everything was a gun challenge, even the hard moments. Nothing was too confusing to understand, and, honestly, this felt like I was playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the first time all over again. Really good work on your part, and well-deserving of the five stars I gave you.

If you give this game a map, ill give it a five star rating, at it to my favorites, and pass it around to all my friends.

Very nice game! As I play this for the sixth or so time. As many already told, a map would do very good. I still get lost at times however it gets much easier when you already have completed the game once. There are people complaining about getting softlocked, and I think it is the puzzles to blame for being a bit 'think outside the box' style, however, i found one way to really get softlocked and it is in the castle where you could get trapped between two big moving blocks. Still, it is just to press esc and then any key to get back to the entrance. That is actually a good shortcut to spare some time instead of travelling. Excellent game. I think the fact that I play it for the sixth or so time is proof enough of how awesome I think this game is.

I wish there was an alternate way to beat the game without killing the relics by getting a subset of the items in a special order. It could have been a cool puzzle.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I originally rated this a 4/5, because I was annoyed by the lack of a map. Eventually, it earned a 5/5 anyway... it was a hard-earned 5/5 due to the difficulty I had without a map, but ultimately this game deserves it.

I don't fear creatures of the relic. I don't fear hordes of monsters. What I fear is small pathways with death on either side. XD
