To anyone struggling with Mission 9 (any difficulty) check out this post. I took tips from most of these strategies and compiled that new knowledge together to come up with a strategy similar to this video's first turn (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoVioSLfLGA), just keeping the plane alive and one of the commandos in the boat for exxtra fodder later. I only captured the refineries by the sea statue, the land statue, and the on closest to the southern-most warfactory and stalled with battlecruisers, picking enemies off from a distance. Once rond 15 hits, the enemy's production grinds down to almost non-existant. Keep picking off enemies and use subs to block off the two sea entrances. Good luck! This was on Medium btw, Idk if the same strat works on hard.

Funny story - I was attempting stage 9 on hard and found it nearly impossible, and on my third try I just decided to let it play out when I was losing pretty bad. I lost all my units except for both planes, and had to sacrifice one to destroy the commando that was about to take my only factory (and had already taken my ground control). However, I managed to slip by the huge flak tank clump and get into the center of the map. At this point the AI apparently forgot how to make units, so the one rocket truck he had chased me around unsuccessfully. I saved up until I had over $5000 and made an army of ships (mostly battlecruisers), which I slowly pulled out of my only factory. I then proceeded to wipe out the AI army, because the AI still wasn't producing units.
TL;DR Stage 9 hard mode is absurdly difficult but it balances out by the AI breaking after destroying almost all your units. Survived with one plane, then made a ship army and won.

that, combined with how the AI takes too long to think (at the end of its move) but still does nothing. how long does it take to do nothing?

biggest problem is when the AI stops producing units, when it has bases clear, and money in the bank.. the AI just gives up

for those that are complaining about lvl 9, its one of my favourite maps. yes, it is extremely difficult, and one bad move can be fatal, but I have beaten it numerous times.. it is possible

actually its very very unfair on level 9, enemy has build facilities while the player has none, not even resources to repair, and you have to capture a base with your pathetic skeleton army while enemy rushes in from the start with full force as if they have a spy and know you are here and builds up reinforcements real fast, which you cant now, sadly, the odds against player being 9:1, the map is highly unbalanced, till now it was good but since lvl 9 seems impossible to win hence 1-star rating, cheers

bit of an obvious AI behavior exploit here: they have a huge priority placed on attacking repairing and capturing units, this makes damaged infantry surprisingly valuable units

i hate how the enemy can move a unit the turn it is manufactured, like im moving along fine and then HUZZAH INSTA FLAK. and im like... wut?

I wish there was a back button, or undo the last move. The ammount of times I have moved a character next to enemy and forgot to attack...

Tip: Condor Bombers are EXTREMELY powerful, be very careful of them. I got a flak tank with 3 and a half bars of health to attack a Condor Bomber, which had a + sign when I selected my flak tank. I took the bomber down to half health...and it retaliated by completely destroying my flak tank in one hit. Be very careful.

Used to play this as a kid...I had been looking at old pictures when i saw this game and it reminded me of it. I looked it up and finaly get to relive my childhood

I played the last mission in such a way the enemy couldn't spawn in any stealth tanks near my base... but I forgot to turn the dialog back on so I'd actually hear any reactions the enemy commanders might've had to that.

Private:sir, the enemy is weak, and we are still strong we should attack them now to piece through their main defenses. General: nah, get some repairs done first. Our troops are only at about 7/8 heath left

In the higher levels the game starts to lag a little and the computer needs to speed up so it takes the computers turn to catch up because there is too many troops.

The game is really fun, but I wish you could fight battles to the end. After round 25 or so on Hard difficulty, the opponent stops buying things. They just sit and accumulate money until you wipe out their stuff instead of fighting and forcing the player to outthink them. It's kind of lame that way. I was making some headway struggling against the waves of enemies, but suddenly it stopped buying them so it basically just let me win. I wish there was a way to turn that off. Or maybe a harder difficulty where they didn't stop buying troops.
