In response to Muffins, the second mission has Tucker warn Yurik that you cannot fire onto ground troops entrenched in the new terrain, "canyon." In response to Joverla, my strategy was making short stops along the way to Durand's main spider outpost. At every barricade, I would destroy any spider tanks coming at me with mortar tank, the annihilator tank, or the flak tank. The rocket tank is actually ineffective against the spider tanks. Then I would use my rocket tank to destroy the barricade as the spider tanks approached. If my tanks were badly damaged, they would be fixed. The spider outpost eventually runs out of funding and cannot send any more spider tanks for a while. Use this vital time of relative peace to advance. A better place to hold up, if you want to camp, is at the bottom-left corner of the map. This area offers more space so you don't have to deal with the sudden spider attacks from the mountain range. Good luck.

For pretty much any map:
1. spam rocket trucks
2. make a palisade around your trucks with scorpions and annihilators
3. pull damaged tanks back and send in reserves
4. wait until just a trickle of infantry is left
5. GG

@Gavyn444: I'm having the same problem. I finally managed to get three healthy units to the southeast corner, including a mortar truck. Ended up in a quagmire where I could destroy every spider tank they made and never get hurt, but I couldn't complete the mission because of that damn factory behind the mountains...oh damn, maybe if I had used the mortar truck to destroy the tank and one more spider tank...

does anyone else find the idea of building an intrepid (sea capture unit) from a war machine ironic?its not like your going to be using properties if you have war machines...

I find it funny how many people are calling this advance war ripoff. Ive never played advance wars so i could be wrong in saying this but..... Why cant there be a game based off an older game without it being a ripoff? So should i call any FPS game a ripoff of the 1st FPS shooter due to it being just that, a fps?

I'm getting a consistent bug. On the Bonus Map (the Badge of the Day today) the enemy will take his first round of creating weaponry, move that weaponry to position, and the game freezes...it won't let me have control to take my turn. Disappointing considering this is the BOTD.

Strategy for Chapter 2 hard mode: Clear the right side first and get 2 rockets in there. DON'T kill tanks that have less than half health, especially flak tanks, so they destroy barriers slower.
Strategy for Chapter 5 hard mode: send soldiers like crazy to take out the factories. Forget about other tanks.

So very buggy. Just defeated a level, got the closing blurbs from the talking heads, and now it's just sitting there. No options, units aren't selectable, menu isn't available. Awesome. This is one BOTD that's not worth the headache.

On Level 4, easy, I've been camping out with my Annhialator on a hill with the Flak right behind me, destroying all the spider tanks that come along and repairing the damage they cause me. I've been doing this for the last 195 rounds.

Just finished the three battalion games. In terms of difficulty (at hard), nemesis>vegeance>ghosts. There are some "puzzle stage" at first, but later stages can be finished quickly with figher plane spam. Yet in terms of fun this game probably is the best, since the stages are not too long, and there are many innovative units.

@lauren16 1. Any units that could walk over mountains in normal mode (soldiers and spider tanks) can do so in hard mode. 2. Terrain affects movement, so something like a forest or hill can mess with the amount of spaces a unit can move. 3. Hard mode gives the enemy a 33%ish damage increase, so it only looks like they do full damage relative to normal mode. Hard mode is a bit of a challenge, but the enemies don't cheat.

for chap.9 just make two raptors and one condor and send them strait across the map to the two turrets ignore the enemy's units just go strait for the warmachine. use the condor to take out the turret.

YES! i finally beat the last level on hard. you have to make sure you get the majority of the ores on the outside of their barriers. and make sure you take out those turrets asap. you have to keep your jammer truck for almost the entirety of the game or you'll be raped up the ass by condor bombers. omg it took me like 5 hours.

To me, Level 4 is a piece of cake. I beat it with casualties of one Scorpion Tank lost and my Annihilator with only one bar of health lost. How I did it: Keep your Scorpions and Flak in a defensive postition against the east, south, and north as you advance. Keep the Flak Tank slightly behind the Scorpions. Remember that the Flak Tank one-hits spiders, and while the Scorpion has more armor and stronger firepower it tends to do better breaking barricades. The Annihilator can one-hit Spiders as well and should be the sturdy warhorse throughout the ambush, sticking right by the Mortar and Rocket trucks. While the Mortar and Rocket Trucks must be alive in the end, the Annihilator and Scorpions are almost as nessesary. Try to destroy Spider Tanks while they're still in the mountains, and keep carefully out of range of the others untill you're sure you can kill them in one turn. ;)

like to keep this tip alive: in the pass level do not attack! its a strategtic nightmare, your forces will be cut down by the sentry guns and ground support is almost impossible to come ASAP, instead break the first barricades and hold at next barricade, damage it but don't destroy it from there you are only vulnerable to spider and air attack, to counter this build long range sea cannons and raptor fighters and build your force using the immense amount of ore deposits, soon your enemy will run dry and be forced to advance making them easy targets. then when their force is decimated use your immense amount of raptors and battleships to swarm the enemy destroying them in one stroke

Cross-posting comment on Ghosts:
The big effect of the difficulty level that I can see is the damage enemies do.
Easy: All enemies do 70% of normal damage.
Normal: All enemies do 100% of normal damage.
Hard: All enemies do 140% of normal damage.
No effect on how much damage enemies take, as far as I can see.
Normally, I'd be pretty scared of 140%, since that's a pretty bad disadvantage.
Luckily, though, the enemy likes to spam Condors, which can't scratch Raptors.
140% of zero is... still zero.
Most battles are won by taking out enemy units that can hit Raptors, and then it's smooth sailing from there.

Took about 15 minutes to get the BotD...while playing gears of war 2 as well. The game is just like advance wars so maybe I had an advantage having already played the heck out of this. It was fun!
