Start in Japan and take over Echigo. Black Samurai are OP. I managed to take over every single city without a single casualty on my side... Except Alexandria. Those greek fire throwers managed to kill five of my people.

Kong does not allow for the editing of comments on games. My apologies for the triple post. After reading more about other players' experiences, I wonder if I simply had the *potential* to do more than 500 damage at some point in time. I really do not know.

As an aside, many complain about the medium badge, and indeed, more people have trudged through the game to get the hard badge than have obtained this one. I somehow got it, even though the game stated that my hero never did more than 230 damage or so. Why this is, I am not sure, but if you are tired of looking for the right weapon to randomly drop, try doing what I did and raising intelligence along with art of war and patriotism as high as possible, and buying units that do a large amount of damage themselves. It's possible that the badge does not distinguish between your allies' attacks and yours as long as something does at least 500 damage. It's also possible that the game doesn't know what it's talking about and that I did, in fact, do 500+ damage at some point. It is something to consider if, like me, you do not relish the thought of doing random encounters until just the right sort of equipment appears.

Great concept, but plagued by bugs and a lack of depth. I encountered a similar glitch to the one that Doge experienced, but I am fairly certain that my character did not have one hundred dodge chance. All I know for sure is that for the last third or so of the city capturing slog, I could not move or attack with my character at all. This is, fortunately, entirely unnecessary, seeing as a mass of high-level cavalry such as the golden axe-wielding heroes will slaughter everything with ease once you have the relevant stats and skills to boost them. It's just a shame that the gameplay essentially disappears before you're even halfway through the game due to the fact that nothing can stop you once you have a large army.

It seems that getting over a hundred percent dodge chance makes my character unable to move. Don't get over a hundred dodge chance.

If you enjoy this game (and have a bit of money irl)
Try out Mount and Blade: Warband
Very similar concept, lots of fun I've spent probably 200 hours in that game trying to take over the world. It's on Steam for only about 20 bucks.

tip best way to keep army size without using all your money boot patriotism and art of war it becomes very difficult to kill off your army. Also have a bunch of archers and crossbowmen in reserve and abuse the arrow volley button

And at risk of double-posting, there *are* sequels out, that have solved some of the problems present within this one.

I like how recent comments don't seem to realize that it's (1) several years old, and (2) have incorrect grammar in their posts about its bad grammar.

the encounter rate is way too high. at one point, i couldnt even move a single pixel without starting battle. its annoying

If you want the medium badge, you have to find a special weapon (blue background). Some of them have a huge damage boost.

Wow. What a cheapo rip-of of Mount & Blade... and the text in the speech bubbles goes outside of them, making reading partially guesswork when the bubble is at the right edge of the screen.

Oh man these were great games, I remember playing this and then a year later playing Mountain Blade and wondering who copied who.

@Deekfrog: You don't *have* to play this to get your shiny Kongpanion. You only need to get 5 of the 7 badges in a week for the shiny, so if you really don't like one, just skip it.

So I have to attack this enemy city if I happen to click on it by accident, apparently can't beat it and die. Unfortunately, the autosave overwrites the save, and the autosave puts me back in the enemy city, with no option but to fight them. Grrrrreat!

i was killed in first fight by archer, half-screen way to attack him ... he was something like 2 [or 3] times overpowered ... game sucks

Don't combine a Mysterious armor of Death (+100% hit chance, +90% crit chance, +0-1000 damage, no dodge or armor, -80% health) with oil or greek fire. Yes, it will do massive damage. But it will also kill your own units :D
