this is incredible. it's a unique and simple concept, but it really illustrates the being ALONE can be more than just physical separation. Amazing that you did the whole thing from scratch in 48 hours... got a timelapse? (ps. did you use a library ie: flixel)

It needs a save! Level 15 or so glitched out on me. I squished myself but finished the level at the same time, then there were two princesses and two Midases on the screen at the same time, and I could control both, and resetting the level did nothing.

So, let's try interpret the definition of the credits. IMO, you can get so close to the girl you love, that it represents the time-old phrase, "So close yet so far." Add the fact that she has turned gold, which probably means that it is too late. The fact that so many people are addicted to trying to jump the credits to the girl, is probably the persistence, the regret that you can't save her yet you want to.

Wonderful. I think that the reason why the girl is already golden in the credits is a metaphor. The original story of Midas teaches that greed leads to bad things. In this game, Midas already has his greedy powers, and tries to get the girl at the same time. At the end, the girl is already golden to show that losing her was inevitable. 5/5, favorited.

This is a really good game. Its got elements of a puzzle game, strategy, and it send out a very unique message about loneliness as well as acceptance. 5/5 and hope for a sequel.

I think this could use a little explanation. King Midas is a figure from Greek mythology. At some point he wished that everything he touched would turn into gold. He got his wish. Pretty great for a while, until he tried to eat... and all the food he touched turned into gold as well. Oops! Objective of the game: touch the blue block to lift the curse (yes, turning everything you touch into gold is a curse, that's the moral of the story!), then touch the girl.

Remember the story, he turned his daughter into gold. He has to go to the river to wash himself so he doesn't turn everything else into gold. As the blocks fall so does his psyche. He becomes mentally unstable. If he was able to touch the the girl it would do no good. He cannot reverse what has been done.

Bug: if you hold down r at the start of a level then release and jump just as you do that, you can avoid turning the starting block to gold

I think the credits level symbolizes that the girl is already out of your possession. Yet you continue to chase after her, even though its impossible.

Most people know full well of Midas' myth – the man who turns anything he touches to gold. But what some may not know is that a variation of this myth was that he even turned his daughter into gold.
In Level 8, Midas mentioned that he is a prisoner to Pactolus. This is the river that the Greek God Dinoysus told Midas to wash in so that it would wash away his power of the golden touch. This, of course, is the water that you touch on every stage.
That is what the credits mean to me – that Midas simply can not undo the damage which he has done. Even if he had the ability to jump that gap (which he does not), he can never get his daughter back ever again. -reposted

I think the credit means that it's already too late. You already turned the one you love into gold, but you can't help but keep trying to save her. End result: you are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no love or power.

Credits IS impossible. It shows ,now matter how hard he tried, in the end he could not accomplish what he hoped for :(

@wrothmonk: The Midas touch didn't turn the air to gold around him because it was a supernatural reaction, not an atomic reaction. Physics is completely mutable in the face of a curse (at least in mythology).

Seriously if you give me a level on the credits I'm going to waste several minutes trying it until I rage quit, even if I already know it's impossible.

The concept is awesome. You took a real story and turned the key element into a gameplay feature. The puzzles are simple, clever, and enjoyable. The artwork is smooth and very fitting. Very nice work guys!

Also, anyone wonder what would happen if it was actually possible to jump to the girl in like, 1/10000 tries? That would be amazing. IMO, what that would represent is, even though the girl is gold...."It is never too late."

King Midas was King of Crete and Mycenaean people. The people were attacked by Sparta and migrated to an Island called Cyprus. Cyprus means copper in ancient Greek.

I got the same bug as CharmDragon, and the new set of characters were almost touching, so I couldn't move right without losing the game. (Refreshing brings you back to level 1).
