Today was a good one to try for a best time... straightforward strategy. A right jab to take out the upper-right emitter, then a left hook all the way through to the finish. 5:28 was my best of about 5 good games.

Makes sense. I beat today's level in 1.45, the totems where close enough together to get them all powered before the creeper came in the way. :P

@roadrunner84: I like to spend some time playing a level. I'll build a intricate network and completely dominate the creeper releaser things before I activate the totems.

so many years after this is put on here i still come back, it's so enjoy, but for the first time i ask myself is there a limit on how high my energy can go, how fast i can move the energy with my speed buildings....hmmm

well, today's was nice and easy. nice return for someone who hasn't played his bought copies of creeper world for months... anyone know how to make creeper world run on linux?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Thecis. Yeah, Jan 25 my bridgehead was destroyed more than a few times too before I beat it... that's what made it fun. If the Creeper didn't present a true challenge every now and then, I don't think CW1 would be as much fun.

@FroztySilva.
You are absolutely right. Overwhelming force is most of the time doable. Most of the time, you can indeed have the balance between the speed and force. For Jan 25th, after having the bridge destroyed for a couple of times (my timing wasnt so perfect...) I used the somewhat "use-more-blasters" approach :-)

Jan 25. spore attacks seem aggressive. dont forget a couple SAMs squeezed in to your first island dev. I lost a good chunk of reactors due to a SAM running out of ammo.

@Thecis I always try to make time a motivator for myself. You can (usually) always build up overwhelming force, but I try for the perfect balance between speed and force. That's why it would be nice if we could see others' scores or times, just for something to try for. For Jan 25 I think I did use 2 rotating mortars (I'll drop one into the blue, let it lob a few rounds (and take some damage) then pull out and have another one immediately take it's place, rinse and repeat) and I think 3 or 4 rotating blasters to establish my beachhead for the bridge relay (i.e. the area with force in place before collectors or relays could be built to bring in packets directly).
I'd add my support for suggestions I've seen here before; it would be nice if there were variables that would sometimes make the generated game more challenging (e.g., an extra emitter). I have the idea for a "creeper wave"; a short period of time where the emitters say doubled their output.

@FroztySilva, you can also "store" blasters on the island and make a full attack on the 2 or 3 emitters on the right. Give air support, this helps.
It takes a bit more time but it is not so annoying than to have to rebuild over and over.

for Jan 25, indeed move Odin City to higher ground. I almost always do that unless the begin spot is really well suited. Go for deep pocket creeper burning. Mortars are nice to begin with but don't forget to have drones. These do also a lot of damage and can help you clear a path or to keep the creeper at bay by continiously bombing deep pockets of creeper near the emitters. Good luck!

Jan 25 was nice, I moved city to right, fit reactors and a mortar, then drone strike and blasters to relay top-right.

Just played Jan 25. Another good one. I went directly at the emitters across the top right to left. Still a challenge even after making that first challenging bridge (which took several tries to finally get the timing and necessary equipment right). 16+ minutes in total. I'll definitely be buying the CW1 program for the user maps. CW1 is just an awesome, simple, well balanced game. (Unfortunately I don't quite feel the same for CW2.) The balance reminds me of DTD1.5 The 100.

@waf4011 Move the city to th platform on the right, make one single mortar cannon and build all the reactors you can, then use blasters on the bottom-most part of the platform. You should be able to take it from there.

just found out that units get repaired if I wait long enough - after a couple of weeks playing here. my attention for details is amazing. *blush*

@Frozty - there are some extremely tough user-created maps on CW1 (available through the website it links to), and times are posted to scoreboards on the Knucklecracker site. Not sure about validating, but the folk who play (or who played when I used to do a lot of user maps) seem like the sort who wouldn't cheat even if it was possible.

Yes, 1-19 map is the best challenge in awhile. I've got 12:34 as my best time (2 tries, 16+ was the first). Does anyone know if there are good (i.e., challenging) CW1 user maps on Creeperworld, and are best times posted (and validated)?

collection>depletion.
deficit, still growing.
still made highscore while idling the game in survival after i set up, gotta love me some creeper world.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
wow Sat1-19 was a great map. Best map in months. After 5 plays the fastest I can totally clear all the creeper is 16 minutes.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Thecis there's a 'Longest Mission Time' on the high scores tab on the chat window, near the bottom on the dropdown menu. Not sure what the scores on there mean, but it's effectively longest survival time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@NattensKriger, apparently I am... I see there is a high score menu but within the menu, I can't seem to find it. Also, ISa high score? What high score do you refer to?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What is the highest survival score? The emitters with me are now over 200 and still "in control". Perhaps this could be added in the high score menu (since there are already so many different high scores).

i play during my lunch break at work, and even sqeeze a game in each day on the weekends.
even wrotea little app that syns my save file across pc's (via usb mem) so i dont have missed days on the mission select screen.

re: the issue Criggie noted:
The third totem is located on the same point as one of the orange upgrade discs. You can see it on the preview mini-map, and if you look carefully, you can see the black bar above it. It took me a while to find it, too, especially since this is a hard map to begin with.
