damsel1: Thank you for your comments. Always good to have new blood in a years old game. I have no problem with how you play. I have already stated that every way is fine. My only qualm is with your vocabulary choice. This would be similar to you saying you bowled a perfect game because you got the same number of strikes and spares while everyone else (except the troll MTargaryen who is enjoying our exchange) thinks 12 strikes is a perfect game. Both people would still enjoy bowling. You should continue to play exactly how you want. None of us care how you play. No one cares how I play. Most of the regulars have a certain respect for people who reach for extremes such as "Longest Survival Time", "Shortest Escape Time", "Mortars Only", etc. All of these extremes require acquired skills past the basic elements of the game. Please continue to play any variation you enjoy.

Yes, we play this in different ways and have different goals, yet you don't seem to be able to accept this. I don't particularly care whether you think my way is wrong, or 'inappropriate' but I do think its arrogant to expect everyone to play your way. You play your way, I'll play mine. End of discussion.

I personally play for domination of the map, covering as much area as possible, capping all emitters, and (lastly) attempting to place Odin City as close as possible to the expected warp-out point.

damsel1: Most of us "regulars" play the game to an extreme of some sort. 1) Win as quickly as possible. 2) Last in survival mode as long as possible. 3) Play the game with self-imposed limiters (mortars only for example). Your method of "playing" in survival mode for a short time and then leaving feels not like as a win as much as not playing to any of the extremes. Happily, the game can be played in many modes. It is the use of the term "Winning In Survival Mode" that many of us find inappropriate.

By the way, damsel, they don't just try to beat the level in a few minutes, they beat it as fast as possible using efficiency methods and even energy management. That is what makes it the challenge. In the end people try to challenge themselves in various ways and they're all nice, for example trying to get the best survival time, or letting the creeper pile up for >40 minutes before firing a single shot.

10/19 is awesome on agressive mortar-only! :D I barely managed to finish my first mortar in time to protect the supply line, and the second+third barely enough to attack + defend the supply line more when the second part got endangered!

Your survival time is how long you managed to last, warping out during it is technically a win, and indeed a nice challenge, but survival itself isn't beatable.

Without reactors I managed to conquer the sea but the final push was too slow, should have built up more to the back first. And the right island also works, you can barely get to the center in time. :) Then you need to start conquering the sea with a bit of built-up supply from the top. I'm going to try again later, see if I can manage without reactors.

Hawk45: I think our ideas of what constitutes a win is different. After all, trying to beat the level in just a few minutes doesn't feel like a win to me, I prefer to fight the creeper back, but that's just my opinion and I don't expect other people to feel the same way. As I said to Chilese, its each to our own; we all play differently and we all have our own goals. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
