Kongregate is also a mobile publisher focused on free-to-play games for both iOS and Android. Kongregate reaches 15 million players per month, who spend over 33 million hours playing our games. We are a tight knit team of over 55 people with a strong startup culture, and a very independent subsidiary of GameStop, the largest video game retailer in the world.

The majority of Kongregate's revenue comes from our application platform for virtual goods-based browser games. These range from the more immersive social games to web-based MMOs and strategy games.

Mobile QA Lead Back to Current Openings

Kongregate, a mobile & web games publisher, is looking for a Mobile QA Lead. This role will work closely with our mobile production team in a variety of areas including testing builds, creating test plans, assisting with the build distribution pipeline and leading test cycles run by third party QA organizations. Using organizational skills and a strong attention to detail the QA Lead will rigorously examine and evaluate games while maintaining a thorough structure and test plan to ensure the best possible testing and quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Document bugs with detailed steps to reproduce, while prioritizing testing processes to focus on the most important issues
  • Construct test plans and test cases for a variety of games with an awareness of the differences between platforms and devices
  • Test other Kongregate platform tools and offerings including user and community facing features
  • Distribute test builds and submission candidates to third parties and install them on a variety of mobile devices in-house
  • Manage build releases, track changes, and ensure submission candidates have met all necessary criteria for release
  • Collaborate daily with various team members including members of production and product
  • Verify resolved issues against all applicable devices and platform
  • Provide input/status updates regarding test progress, build quality and stability on a regular basis
  • Maintain documentation on new features or changes to Kongregate platform tools, and the state and health of individual games
  • Reading and responding to community forums and emails while sourcing user reported bugs

Qualifications

  • Quality Assurance experience in the video games industry
  • Knowledge of iOS and Android devices and testing games and apps on a variety of platforms and devices

Developer Relations and Business Development Manager Back to Current Openings

Working independently, the Developer Relations and Business Development Manager is responsible for developer relationships and business development essential to Kongregate's PC browser games business and mobile publishing program. The majority of Kongregate's revenue comes from free-to-play (F2P) PC browser and mobile games with virtual goods for core gamers. The associate will be responsible for sourcing, pursuing, negotiating and signing PC browser and mobile F2P games for Kongregate.com and the Kongregate Mobile Publishing Program respectively. This role will work closely and collaboratively to maintain productive relationships with existing developers and create new profitable relationships through extensive networking activities, staying abreast of emerging F2P gaming trends and developer outreach. He/she will interact with his or her supervisor as frequently as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Kongregate's existing game developers
  • Identify new strong developers and games to bring to the Kongregate web platform for F2P browser games and the Kongregate Mobile Publishing Program through extensive networking activities and selling the value of an affiliation with Kongregate/GameStop
  • Actively seek and respond favorably to feedback related to potential F2P games sourced from game developers

Product Manager, Mobile User Acquisition Back to Current Openings

As a Product Manager on the Kongregate publishing team, your mission is to maximize the business success of our portfolio of mobile games. Your primary responsibility will be analyzing data and building recommendations to improve all aspects of free-to-play games, from the features that drive monetization and retention, to the analysis necessary to drive profitable paid user acquisition. You will work with our producers to help them gain a deeper understanding of how users are behaving in their games, and provide them with market insights and game features designed to improve retention and monetization. You will work with our marketing team to analyze marketing campaigns, player retention and virality and help guide budget allocations across networks. You will work with our marketing vendors to optimize creatives and campaigns across their publisher base.

The ideal candidate is an avid game player, understands mobile game design and product best practices, and has an inherent love of analytics and data.

Responsibilities:

As a Data Analyst on Kongregate's mobile team, your mission is to guide our external developers to implement cutting-edge free-to-play mechanics and game design backed up by state-of-the-art game analytics. You will work with our external development partners to implement telemetry, balance game economies, design best-in-class free-to-play mechanics and use data to optimize game systems and features. You will combine the best in qualitative and quantitative game analysis and research to support the creation of amazing mobile game user experiences. The mission of the Marketing Analyst role will be to maximize the success of Kongregate's cross-platform efforts. The associate will work on a wide range of programs with a focus on paid user acquisition for web and mobile games. Other responsibilities may include email marketing, lifecycle, social media, and community engagement programs. The position will review large volumes of data on tight deadlines, manage large monthly budgets, and work closely with internal and external partners to coordinate essential timelines and delivery flawless customer programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of online paid user acquisition programs including: new program set up and partner development; acquisition buying (on CPA, CPC, and CPM), trafficking new ad campaigns and creative, campaign optimization and ROI analysis, and creative management (testing and reporting).
  • Coordinate the company promotional calendar for all online and mobile features.

DevOps Engineer Back to Current Openings

Kongregate is a large-scale platform for web and mobile games. We don't have an sysadmin function currently - all systems work is done by the development team. This has worked well for us, the site is performant and stable. We've reached a scale where it makes sense to have a specialist - you would lead operations and datacenter functions. We currently have around 30 production servers.

Our technology stack is CentOS Linux, MySQL (percona build), Redis, memcached, Ruby 1.9.3, Rails 3, Scout, Redshift and New Relic. We automate all systems administration with Puppet, Kickstarter, and Rake. We don't expect you to have experience with all of these, as long as you are willing to jump in and able to learn quickly.

Requirements:
