Trace_

Trace is a veteran of the liberation war of his homeplanet. During the war, Trace was heavily injured and was forced to modify much of his body with state-of-the-art cybernetic replacements. As a result, only 6% of his original body remains being his brain.

The Arm Cannon is Trace’s primary weapon, allowing for both energy-based and ballistic attacks. The arm cannon, is a type of projectile weapon that is worn on Trace’s arm, covering it to his elbow. What separates the arm cannon from other firearms is its ability to access various weapons systems by quickly changing its configuration, thus eliminating the need for multiple (and sometimes bulky) guns.

The Arm Cannon features many different configurations. The wide configuration, where the sides of the Cannon expand, the long configuration, where the muzzle of the Cannon extends outwards. The ballistic configuration, where 4 parts of the Arm Cannon protrude in 4 directions, the tip of the Cannon contracts and turns blue, and a ring separates from the Arm Cannon and widens. The last configuration, shows the Cannon opening up in apparently the wide configuration, but with half-pipe like chutes on the sides. Using this last configuration allows Trace to use his Omega Cannon.

Enabling the long configuration of the Arm Cannon, Trace is able to fire a long-range quantum cascade laser, and a plasma beam. Also he can use another beam which shoots supercooled plasma at near absolute zero temperatures and ricochet off impacted surfaces. Trace also possesses a high-frequency beam.

Enabling the ballistic configuration of the Arm Cannon, Trace is able to fire a variety of missiles as well as bullets. The bullets Trace uses are two types.
High Explosive Incendiary/Armor Piercing Ammunition which combines a tungsten carbide penetrator with an incendiary and explosive tip and Armour-Piercing Rounds with depleted uranium shells. Armor-piercing ammunition consists of a penetrator constructed of hardened steel, tungsten carbide, or depleted uranium, enclosed within a softer jacket, such as copper or aluminium.

Enabling the wide configuration Trace is able to fire another variety of beams. He is able to draw energy from the planetary electromagnetic field and convert it into multi-terawatt bursts of highvoltage. When fully charged, the weapon fires a large, slow-moving explosive sphere of energy that creates powerful electromagnetic waves. Within this mode he possesses a heavy mortar-type weapon that fires green globules of energy along an arching path which create a large splash-damaging explosion on contact.

Using his last, yet unnamed configuration allows the usage of his Omega Cannon.
It fires a powerful but slow-moving ball of radioactive energy that has a timed detonation, traveling a significant distance before exploding, unless it comes into contact with an object, in which case it will detonate immediately. Heavy gamma radiation emanates from the Omega Cannon, which suggests nuclear firepower.

The cyborg generates a strong magnetic field. The cyborg avoids harm from the magnetic field a shell coats him. The shell is comprised of a material with a very high magnetic permeability, that is, a material that allows a lot of magnetic flux lines within it, effectively concentrating the lines inside the material, and then it channels them away from the delicate electronics inside. The magnetic field is so powerful that it can make the smallest quantity of metals who have the ability to form permanent magnets or attracted to them, ferromagnetic.

Trace’ exoskeleton is protected with a lightweight electric armour that uses pulses of electrical energy coming from a supercapacitator to repel rockets, shrapnel and other types of ammunition.

When a threat from incoming fire is detected by Trace, the energy stored in the small supercapacitor can be rapidly dumped onto the metal plating on his exoskeleton, producing a strong electromagnetic field.

The next protective layer of Trace’s seemingly fragile and lightweight cybernetic body has been coated with Iridium. The hard, brittle, silvery-white metal is used as an alloying agent for its strong resistance to corrosion.

The cyborg counts with extremely potent, yet very thin insulators which are of alien origin that repel any lost electromagnetic wave emitted from his supercapacitator so his inner system does not get disrupted.

Under those two protective layers there lies his carbon steel pipelines and boards that hold Trace’s complex circuitry. His circuitry is also composed of diamond nanowires rendering the cyborg almost completely impervious to damage.

The cyborg is also able to deploy a spherical force field around himself which absorbs energy. Since the shield absorbs most wavelengths of light, it is completely black in normal use. Trace counts with sensors to be able to ‘see’ past the shield. As the Field absorbs energy it reradiates it over its entire surface, acting as a perfect black body; the colour of the Field moves from infrared to red and through the visible spectrum to blue as the amount of reradiated energy increases. However, the shield is unable to absorb further energy after a certain point which causes it to collapse and the stored energy is released outwards and inwards; so it must be de-activated every once in a while.

Trace also counts with a stealth cloak. Upon command, a special metamaterial coats around Trace. This metamaterial directs and controls the propagation and transmission of specified parts of the light spectrum. This metamaterial owes its refractive properties to the way it is structured, not what it is made of. Using transformation optics, the cloak guides light around some region, rendering it invisible over a certain band of wavelengths.

In order to power his battlefield equipment Trace uses piezoelectric generators embedded within his footwear which harness immense amounts of electricity from continuous shoe impact. By walking, a series of spring-loaded ‘hammers’ hit numerous piezoelectric crystals embedded across Trace’s footwear, producing a sufficiently high voltage electric current that flows across numerous spark gaps.
