Thanks for the update, just so you don’t have to answer posts personnel, maybe quick note on the game page, maybe a time saver not sure just a thought. ![]()

Feb 14, 2018 5:16pm My name is Shaun Byrne, and I’m a solo developer at Pixel Packet Studio. Reaper of the Undead is my first attempt at making a full game, but by no means is it my first. Might wanna fix that, a little error I saw the instant I opened your profile up ![]()

Jan 18, 2018 7:31pm It’d be nice if we could also reset our upgrades, for a price maybe.

Well you can swap out individual upgrades, but a reset option is something I can look into. ![]()

Swapping doesn’t refund souls currently, so you can run into a problem if you don’t have a plenty of souls to spare. But othwerise, the game’s already decent thus far, can’t wait for more content. :) ![]()

Jan 21, 2018 10:11pm Need to bring back the weapon choices, to get anything that resembles the shotgun have to use three slots in your weapon. Does not leave enough slots to upgrade your weapon so that you can survive :-( ![]()

Jan 15, 2018 5:53am Yeah, the upgrades are quite expensive when you’re just starting out. It’s really frustrating when you spend 15 or so minutes collecting souls, and then find out the upgrades you’ve bought didn’t give you enough of a boost.

@JtM25 I knew some people wouldn’t like the new update, but I was thinking of adding a “classic” mode for those who preferred the rogue-like version. It’s all just a matter of time. ![]()

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have much of a problem with the current upgrade system, I just think it’d be nice if we had more options for branching to make the choices more distinct. ![]()

Jan 16, 2018 9:18pm I personally like the upgrade system. It is slow but you are rewarded with a better performance over time. BTW, the music is atmospheric! 5/5 ![]()

The point is to not have a “best” loadout, so you need to have some trade offs and experiment with different combinations. I understand what you’re saying though. ![]()

Jan 13, 2018 11:35pm Not sure if this is a bug or game design. After upgrading in the lobby after a level, if you have souls left they do not carry over. Otherwise good for now but only on level 5.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. Yeah, that soul count during gameplay is to count the souls for that level. No need to apologise, I can see how that would be confusing :) ![]()

What about adding the same for the zombies in a “pick your poison” kind of way? Give them some upgrades that you have to choose (either at the end of levels, or to continue without resetting). You could have speed, damage, awareness, rage count, cloud size, spit speed, etc. It would add a nice level of variability to each individual game. Second, I realize the standard of this sort of game is to progressively unlock the more powerful weapons, but that makes the game hardest at the beginning and too easy with the smg or shotty. Have you considered reversing that progression? So that the beginners get a shotgun, but the real badasses get to prove their skills with a handgun. Higher difficulty could be a soul multiplier for whatever use you end up putting those to. ![]()

In your video youtube video you mentioned that you wanted to change the way upgrades and dying works. I was thinking maybe make it only possible for the player to make an upgrade when they die, and how much they can upgrade would depend on the amount of souls they have. This might work nicely with being able to find better weapons as you progress through the levels, and you could still use checkpoints at the end of a stage. This might lead to players not wanting to upgrade at the start of the game but to wait either until they find that better gun or have enough souls for the more expensive but better upgrade. (this would make dying not a penalty but part of the game mechanic, story wise this could be implement to say he has to go back to hell to buy new skills with the souls he has collected) show less![]()
