I like the concept behind your Tiny Heist game, but it has one fatal flaw which completely tanks its enjoyability for me. However, if you were to fix it, I’d give it another shot.

The issue I have is with the controls. They’re overly responsive. Ridiculously so. As long as a key remains depressed, it executes the movement command associated with it for every frame until released. This is a terrible thing to have in a game that revolves around stepping carefully and making every little move count; if you want to move one square over, but you push the arrow key just a little too long, you’ll move two over instead. And that one extra move may put you in an inescapable conundrum, and send you right back to the beginning.

Luckily, this isn’t too hard to fix.

Let’s use the Right key as an example. Make sure you initialize a boolean variable — I’ll call it IsRightHeld — and set it to FALSE to start with.

While the game detects that the Right key is being held, it checks to see if the flag IsRightHeld is FALSE. If it is FALSE, then the player character moves one step right, and IsRightHeld is set to TRUE. If IsRightHeld is set to TRUE (the player has yet to release the key), then nothing happens.

While the game detects that the Right key is NOT being held AND IsRightHeld is set to TRUE, set IsRightHeld to FALSE. Now that the Right Key has been released, it will allow another rightward step when it is pressed again.

I just want to say what an amazing game designer you are.
I absolutely love ALL your games, and think you are an absolute genius of a game designer. :D
I do want to say, on behalf of all ChatChat fans, that more content for it would be appreciated. It’s so unique, and deserves to expanded. If you’d prefer not to mess with it (because of whatever reasons), could we have your blessing to make our own version?

I don’t wanna BUY a FLASH GAME for $15!!!! Either a decrease in cash or free would be the best choice!! I have left a shout on your alternate account for “throwaway” games that you made… This is regarding one of your minor games, ChatChat… Just as drwinner here has explained. I, Chess, ask you to provide me permission to do something to this game… with your help of course. There were so many valuable ideas provided in the comments section of ChatChat. What I did here was collect them together and put in my thoughts about what and how the game should be like… and born from it was a concept… a concept to make a new game based on ChatChat. Right now, the concept is setting firmly but there are almost no good developers on my side… I know, you chose ChatChat only as an internet connectivity test but… it had more to it than just being a prototype for something else… Please see my shout on your other account for more details… I shall give you a link to a wiki page on which I described about my plans and concepts for ChatChat Deux… (I’ve even made some art by myself and with another friend of mine.)
