If it is the case that factions/nations are introduced, then maybe for practicality sake, make it so that the player can control one group. (If assuming say the max party size is 4, and a group of 15 were sent, then the player can only control one party whereas the others are left to mentors hired. Or one group is sent out with mentor and the others in reserve, or the whole group goes with mentor and player becomes commanding officer rather than squad leader. The player can move groups to positions on a strategy map, activate skills (if mentor is available) but not direct micro-management of group. Alternatively, the mentor can take full control of all the students, but with above restrictions. Unless also the player can learn/buy/earn special skills through a quest arc or something.) Reason: just seems that making the party size to big becomes a bit of a hassle as well as slowing down gameplay.

Also if it’s a war, whether its defending academy/nation etc, can a chance of injury/dying in battle be introduced? So that everyone involved in the battle (aside from player) may end up being lost forever. (It gives value to the said ‘useless’ mentors as well as a chance for common students to thrive. It also means a bit more protecting of ‘genius’ students. Besides given a choice, there’s no reason to take a common to battle if a rare is available.)

Finally, if the battle scale is increased to say 30, the fact that there is chance of losing students in battle reducews the likelihood of just spamming numbers for success. (Idea taken from valkyria chronicles)

I found a bug on Earl Grey and This Rupert Guy: I clicked on the dinning room door while being in the mainhall, so rupert started walking towards it like he should; meanwhile, I pressed the goggles => rupert stops walking, puts the goggles on and here I lost all the control, coudn’t do anything. Had to refresh the page to be able to play again.

Though Earl Gray seems to be really linear, I LOVE how beautiful everything is and how light-hearted a gothic story it paints. So nice work on that. Might not hurt to add some text for imaginative (but wrong) uses of found items as well as some ability to pick up items before you precisely need them. That’s sort of the meat and bread of adventure gaming— doing something totally stupid and getting a witty comment as a reward. Other than that, keep it up!
