The jokers could be the ability to demolish one building (including its effects or not depending on how good the joker is).
Also another good idea might be to have “effects” go diagonally (so like the Train Station but tilted 45°).
I like the way the game is balanced, but at the higher levels it gets too crowded so maybe it’s a good idea that when you require a certain amount of points in a line, the grid enlarges (so when you get to 10 points required, you get 1 extra line). There could be requirements for this and it will need a lot of balancing not to make the game too easy. But I always seem to get stuck near 120000 points or more than 7+ points required.

Hey colepowered, loving that new MegaCity game! I’ve already finished all challenges, and got the unlocks. I managed to score 300K and a bit :-) It’s ever so addicting.

I would definitely love to see more challenges in the game, on a very difficult level (maybe with time?).
And maybe even more unlocks (though I have no inspiration for what at this moment but my earlier idea of “diagonal” effects).

Building the levels is fun though, even without unlocks waiting, so I would say keep those levels rising for those hardcore players.
