Folks, it has been a pleasure. Unfortunately, it looks like DH2 may have to remain offline for a while.
The short version of the story is that I haven’t heard anything from the publisher in over a year (including payments – the publisher has been pocketing all of the money), which means I’ve had to prioritize newer projects that are actually putting food on the table.
When I did get a chance to look into the server outages, I discovered that our server host, PlayerIO, was also missing payments from the publisher.
I asked PlayerIO if I could simply pay to keep the game online out of pocket, and they responded with two problems:
1) Although I still retain full ownership of the Dillo Hills IP, I do not have the necessary ownership of DH2 to take control of the servers.
2) PlayerIO increased the cost of the hosting plan to $500/month, which is much, much more than I can afford to pay out of pocket to keep the game online.
I’m a bit disappointed in this whole thing. It frustrates me that PlayerIO upped their prices so dramatically after we had built the game on their system, it frustrates me even more that the publisher disappeared without saying a word, and it frustrates me the most that my name is out there on a broken game that I can’t fix and I can’t take offline.
I am going to continue trying to sort things out, but if I am unable to figure out a solution, I want to thank all of you for the wonderful times we had, and I want to apologize for the way this all ended. Again, it has been a very long time since I’ve received any payments from the publisher, but if any of you have made in-game purchases within the past couple of months, please send me an email (fex@fexlabs.com) and I will try to refund you out of pocket.

in case anyone missed and is interested to reconnect with dilloers, we have discord. not super big, 20~30ish people. We talk every day. We may play other games together as well, while we wait for DH3 :)
Wazzup Fex, I play the game alot and alot, and I think I got an update in mind: how about daily wins, not only gems, but, if you get for example two daily in a row, you gety to pick a new character! and if all characters, well, continue on crystals.If you like you can add this!
