Interface and reconceptualization of an old idea were great...
Except.... I lost interest after level 3 because you can't take a territory in one turn and then attack again from there. Without this ability you lose the only charm the original Risk had. All you need to do to defend is make sure you take all the territories one past the border you want to protect. This significantly decreases the strategy IMO.
You can take many territories as you describe if you enable multi-attack in a custom game. It's just that the six built-in levels don't use multi-attack, but you can make your own levels that do.
