Ugh, no fair...I beat it, got to Congratulations with Maryo(tm)'s hair flowing in the wind, but no credit for beating the game in terms of the badge. Did I not leave it on that screen long enough?
I'm confused as to how the high scores work. I just beat hard mode in 29 days, yet I'm not listed. I guessed that by the fact that Bramblestar117 is listed as the all-time high score with 33, that it counts the number of days it took you. Am I wrong?
This was very disappointing. I was able to win without the enemies even coming close to my elevators once. Started by doing the basic gun, three on each floor. Upgraded to level three each, that left me with enough to buy the next floor and fill it with basic guns. Eventually I had enough to sell one, and buy a laser. I just kept selling basics and buying lasers, then once I was fully laser'd up, I just upgraded them.
Extremely easy once you get any shield. Hold down the shield button, then hold your melee attack as well, and you'll beat any boss without moving (minus the yeti boss, you'll need to momentarily turn around as the screen changes) and without taking damage.
Nerdook, you will never see this comment, but you need a middle-ground ending. By pure happenstance I managed to end the game with 22 for both Violent and Pacifist when I got the final upgrade. It defaulted to Violent ending.
