The Viktor bloodline was a noble and brave tribe, however dimwitted they may have been. The line came to an abrupt stop as the first summer season came upon them, in which they all suffered major heat stroke and died, due to them never having developed lighter clothing.

it's been 600 years since my distant ancestor Viktor I set out on this journey with a hammer and metal helmet, why can I, Viktor XXI, not yet just kill these snow goblins with a flamethrower?

As Viktor the tenth looked down at his fathers grave he said "i will die the same glorious death as my father," and as he said those words he got hit by a snowball and died that glorious death.

20 Viktors later, one finally surpassed the mountain his father died on. He died two years later. His son, Viktor the 21st, took his place. The mountain was called "Viktor's Tomb" due to all the dead Viktors there.

"This game has a lot of content. I can't wait to see it again." - Viktor the XV. Other than the empty jumps required after respawning, great job!

Interesting concept, decent level design, "fun" surprises. A little repetitive though. Sometimes you feel like a hero who's made progress, other times you die in the exact same spot and chalk it up to genetics XD. 4/5

Cute game, understandable mechanics, and the generational hair color was a nice touch. One complaint is that later on it takes most of a Victor's life to get back to where you were, so not much progress can be made and that's a bit tedious. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect, and it would be cool to see a sequel or something of that nature

Three Viktors died by sealing themselves in caves. The fourth died of old age while completing the tunnel through the mountain. But Viktor the fifth, he made it to the other side.

If I were ask for improvements of this, I'd ask for longer than 30 yrs. That's a bit on the mean side. I'd also ask not to have any point in the game where you are either killed in order to proceed or have to commit suicide.
The game SHOULD be possible to complete in one life if played exactly right, that would be the perfect run.

Having not played this in an age I decided to give it a replay. A few stupid mistakes (I couldn't remember where the traps were) but I think doing it by Viktor the 13th is probably my best run.
Ironic considering I'd got literally to the final puzzle and given up then came back again unsure how far I had left to go only to find I was right by the damn exit.

what would be great to see is that the symbol on the hammer they carry would match their beard color. just a suggestion.

Oh hey, another fellow GGJ'12er! Glad to see another game that made it out of that weekend and see the light of day (mine's Velociraptor! Cannibalism!). :)
Enjoyed this to the end, even if I did have a half-dozen or so sad deaths (Viktors 25 and 26, IIRC, both died in the same spot, the 2nd and 3rd to meet that same spiked floor trap fate).

in response to how you can win on viktor the fourth and still have 5 ghosts, the last ghost is bob... viktors father :)

A lot of fun. A good example/idea of what some actual games that are out now or in production and what they're capable of. Final result- 26th Viktor. Most died of bad timing, but left rather humorous lessons on their magical gravestones.

It's a good idea to add something that tells you who died on what and who made it by showing a map of the entire thing of that.

Victor the XIII made it. Interesting gameplay. I've never seen a game quite like this. Part puzzle, part platformer, all viking family ghosts and stuff. 5/5

"My dear son Viktor, as you stand here amongst your 6 fallen forefathers I shall impart some valuable wisdom upon you. These horns on your helmet? Merely fashion accessories. If you strive to escape the arrows, note that these horns are highly likely to be caught on the ceiling and kill you...." And so the 13th Viktor came to know his father's advice was sound.

The animations are a bit loose - this game could benefit from animations that more accurately reflect the characters' hitboxes. Doesn't hurt the game much, though. 4/5
