@ ryomakaze , i use sheeps for ranged attackers and quest monsters , then i hopefully have more scrolls for getting more health in need .

It would be nice to have an item (from the shop or chests) that temporarily showed where all the traps in a dungeon were. Good game though.

Some tips: The vampire is probably the best class, with a healing and mass attack power. Try to take out monsters in 1 hit if possible. A good offense is the best defense. Explore the dungeon floors as much as you can before fighting, since you might find upgrades or allies. Wait to open barrels until all of the unexplored squares around them are gone (might be a monster that will block you). Save all fireball scrolls for levels 10+ and use them to take out ranged foes. Lightning scrolls can be good in arenas, since you're hitting ~8 monsters. Wait until the next floor to exchange scrolls for health if possible, you might get more for them.

Unlocking a golden sword to upgrade your start attack power could be a nice thing to add . Like you get 1 every time you get to floor lvl 20 or 1 time only for every 5-10 floor lvl you manage .

Also, Paladins aren't as bad as everyone seems to think compared to Vamps: They get reduce damage as a % with a better chance, so in later levels they are much better. They also get bonus vrs undead which never fails and is quite significant, plus free life is not only good for people prone to not watching health, it's also basically a % boost to health (rather than a flat boost)

game has gone from a 5 to a 1 because saved games continue to disappear. Very disappointing as this is one of the few kongregate games i'd rate higher than 3.

2 Things that would make this more enjoyable. Have rubies give a permanent +1 life & +1 attack instead of +2 life. Have the end of run bonus money be separate from the money earned/spent in the dungeon. That bonus would be exclusively used on upgrades.

first reactions to reading description: "strategic advent calendar? that sounds horrible!"
flipping through classes: "dwarven brewer? i kinda wanna play now."
playing: "this is ****ing awesome!"

I feel the game balance the monsters health with my health and my damage; that`s a little unfair: got a 25+ damage, buying with the money from the arenas, just to encounter monsters with the same health that I found on the previous try 10 levels deeper

Just a few ideas: There should be a way to permanently increase your base damage by at least 1-2 points; it should be ludicrously expensive to help balance it, however. Also, I find myself being overwhelmed as the monsters in the dungeon start out with higher and higher stats while my character is looking desperately for an attack point or two. Maybe nerf the rate at which the mobs scale in difficulty?

is it just me or is the paladin's self rez not working like the tool tip says my first death I am dead not coming back do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars D-E-A-D dead

Firstly I need to say I love this game and the game style, it makes me wish to give comment on game balance and improvement very much.
1) Mobs with skills like ranged mobs, assassin, should have lower base stats then normal mobs like bat. Encountering a unpreventable big damage is discouraging. Like traps , assassins' first strike should have a nerf. Others are fine or can be buffed since some spells can counter.
2) Balance of spells.
You may rather buff the effect or nerf the direct HP gain. For example, first strike is useless since others are doing much better. Buff it with more damage should be good.
3) Spells slot.
We need to have one or two more spells slots to make a strategic game to be more strategic. Add a limited number of same spell to balance it.
4) Rubies / gold / upgrades
To be a simple, causal game. It is better not to add to much elements like armor, resist, items etc. but should be more usage of rubies/gold on upgrading or unlocking heroes.

Super fun ~ and just a few tweaks away from being a perfect casual roguelike for Kong! Any idea if/when this will get to the Android app market?

The Greedy Doors are somewhat poorly balanced. A few gold or a couple hearts for a spell is an okay gamble but even one attack point is kind of absurd. Probably worth reworking that.

The image below is too big and covers part of the screen. I installed the PC version and it works fine. I'm on firefox.

this is one of the few games I have found that could easily go onto phones with very little change and do extremely well. the screen is small enough to fit on a phone and tapping the screen could explore that square

It took me a few tries to figure out how to USE the spell cards. Instructions for the next newbie would be a good idea.

@Kaiwoklaw:Completely not true, multiple abilities can activate at once. I've actually had all 3 Vampire abilities activate at the same time.

The premise of a game that makes you restart constantly doesn't seem like a very good idea if you can possibly avoid it. In this game you could definitely avoid it if it was designed differently. I for one got really tired of just constantly restarting quickly. Tip: If you spend your gold during the game than you won't have enough money left to upgrade your starting abilities.

Save Polymorph spells for the ranged guys. what ever you polymorph loses all it's special abilities (no more ranged attacks, slimes don't split, etc)

Bad Luck:
Floor 10, opens tile. "Ow, Poison!"
Another tile right next to it: "More poison? 2 Health left..."
Next tile. More poison.

It looks like only one ability can trigger on each strike, so now that my vampire is max level, i am regretting upgrading undead sympathy at all. Not only does it have a big drawback, but I would rather the other 2 abilities triggered every time.

Not sure if this is happening to anyone else, but all pop-up messages are showing up in the corner, off screen for me.
