I don't understand how many of the other rpgs on this site are ranked so much higher. having played both SQ and the other games, I think this is rated way too low. SQ blows every other RPG game I've played on Kongregate away.

Turn system is... Weird.
Not scalable as a performance trick (assuming that hardly too many players will log in with it)
Questionable as a profit source. Paying for walking sucks.

Try expanding your game so that you don't have to make people play 15 minutes of it every day just so it will have some longevity. And as I and others have been pointing out for a long time, please don't try backing up a turn regeneration system if you're going to allow people to break the so called "balance" it provides. Even if you remove the choice to buy more turns, buying tokens or whatever so you can get fancy new items can probably ruin everything too. There are two level 20s - one gets a super death weapon with tokens, the other doesn't. Neither spent more or less time on the game due to the turn system. So, what happened to that balance?

This game will always have its own little community, but that's about it. I don't see it branching out much further than that because it alienates a more mainstream audience, and the reasoning behind it is REALLY broken, but I've been going on about that for a long time.
To all edgebee fanboys, we ARE trying to provide some constructive criticism and we AREN'T just trying to piss you off. At least try to recognize and accept that if you honestly refuse to listen to reason and stick to your precious mediocre flash game.

Funny how people on Edgebee's main forums call all of these naysayers over here trolls. Attention people, stop being blind idiots. :\ These are real problems being brought up by people who are dead serious. We aren't just trying to tick you off. The turn system will turn away a lot of potential players. While I see where the creators were going with it, the simple fact is, people don't like when a game regulates how the player must spend his or her time, and when a game does that, it drives away a large audience of gamers.

What happened to my save game?!?! This sucks, I couldn't get to the game for a few days and all my progress is lost! Now if I want to play I have to start over and then wait because I only get a few turns a day. Epic fail. Unfortunately, I now have to change my rating down to a 2...too bad because it was fun.

Pathetic? The turn system ruins the game for me. Just to reiterate, this game would be a great experience if I didn't have to wait 24 hours just to get about 10 to 15 minutes of gameplay. :/

Just for reference, I'm not an employee of the company and have absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever - I just came across it one day and really enjoyed it. I just don't like seeing people slag off a game like this for pathetic reasons like the turn system. As far as I know, the only person who is directly connected to the game is EdgebeeStudios, because he made it!

Kick445, you have to buy more turns with real money, or wait for them to replenish. You get one turn every two hours.

The game is okay. There are a few annoying things about it though. Gold is kept at the individual level, coupled with the amount you get from battle, which makes purchasing things harder. The other is the damage done on some enemies is a lot greater than others, I assume it's because of the type of weapon. This means you'll need several types of weapons to be effective, which means you need more gold but....

Wow, I was expecting this game to be an amateur little first-ever-made game. But this is a really good and addicting game. I love it. Umm it says I used up all my time today... because I ran out of time. Then a screen shows up and says "Thank you for playing Sorcery Quest! Access all the full features here!" WTF?! How do you get more time? and why does it end the game when you run out?

My initial impressions on the game, though, are that I like it. The turn restrictions seem okay and keep the game "casual". Considering that the admins are slowly developing content, they don't want their player base to get ahead of their development too much. You start with 50 tokens, which you should save so you can enter the "dark ruins" later on, assuming you don't plan to buy more. The "free" version of the game doesn't seem too restricted, at least not compared to other games with this model.

Wow. Fail, phaethonfire. I can't believe you just suggested that people spam referral links so they can have an edge. Referral links are annoying and against the rules on many websites, Kongregate included.

here's another f****d up thing,
suddenly half of the stuff (the better equipment) in the store has disappeared, I don't know if it's because it's a marketing stunt for guest accounts to sign up because they reach high levels or because they just re-adjusted the server, but both-ways the site managers are cheating and that's messed up.
I'm hooked but there's no way I'm paying (especially now)

Found this on the forums for the game written by edgebee himself. Anyone else notice the similiarities of Bagpuss 1st statement about the game and this post made by the siterunner made in the forum. Here it is in quotes:
"Note that only treasures that occasionally drop randomly from monsters need to be paid for. They are fun to get but aren't necessary to progressing as you can do just fine without them.
5 tokens for common loot drops, which is equivalent to ~5 cents and 200 pieces or
25 tokens for rare loot drops , which is equivalent to ~25 cents and 40 pieces if you get the 1000 tokens package, and much less for all the others."

One more thing is that you will encounter the best items later in the game that can only be gotten by purchasing with tokens. My guess that these items will be vital to have any kind of success in the ladder matches.

I know most of the negatives because I went to the website and researched myself, which wasn't easy. Many things could not be found anywhere on the site, such as how much tokens cost. I even checked the forums. I realized the only way to find these things out was to sign up so I did. This is what I found. The cheapest deal is 1,000 tokens for 10 dollars and the best deal that cost a reasonably amount of money is 4,000 tokens for 30 dollars. I was unable to see how much turns cost without buying the tokens but was able to get an idea by looking at how much there special beginners packages cost. Roughly it was 30 dollars for 100 turns and some gold and a few medals. So if the items are 25 cents a piece as bagpuss said then the turns are around 33 cents per turn. Put them together plus the fact that you will have to continue to buy turns and items then you could possibly put a lot of money into it. $100's easy. Of course this is only for those interested in the prices.

Just to name some of the negatives that Bagpuss didn't bring up is. You generate 1 turn every 12 hours which comes out to 12 a day which you can burn through in 20 minutes. Also saving up turns is still very limited, as the cap is 48 turns. It seems as the developer has limited the game as much as possible for non-paying customers to get as many people to buy tokens as possible, although he claims is not true. Also Bagpuss said you can go as slow or as fast as you want. What is the point of going slow I ask. You can do that with any game, the only difference being if you go fast in this one your bound to enjoy yourself for 5 minutes and then be more pissed then when you started, so I guess he has a point. Go really really slow. In fact take some exlax so your forced to go to the crapper therefore prolonging the game even more and maybe if you take a 2 hour dump you just might generate 1 more turn.
