Dear Tandu, cars are responsible for environmental problems and tens of thousands of deaths each year. So no more racing games for you. The banking system is corrupt and broken down, so no more City building tycoon games for you. Any game involving some sort of projectile hitting people and property is not for you. Any game where the hero is male or female only is not for you. Any game referencing any kind of religious or historically troubled background is not for you. Any game with the aim of obtaining another party's belongings through force is not for you. Oh wait. hang on, we are not actually selling or using dope in real life because of this one game, just as we are not actively trying to achieve highscores running over pedestrians because we played Carmageddon once in the 1990's

I couldn't buy enough tea for Britain... why? I could only buy 30 crates at a time, which wasn't enough to keep up with making a profit, waiting for the prices to fluctuate in my favor, buying opium, etc. 5 and 15 seem useless, I'd rather have 25, 50, and 100 crate options.

1. Very difficult learning curve.
2. We're just giving tea away? Is this some sort of non-profit opium selling after school program?
3. Custom purchase size button. Seriously. You don't make huge profits on stock markets by buying 30 shares at a time.
4. Awesome game. Good to see a game about the Opium War - not the most virtuous time in the history of the west.

Britain sold opium to China to get huge profits and after the chinese realize that its bad for them, they began to destroy opium. Then came the british to force them to buy opium. WTF?!

Yay, 127 million points! Alright guys, the trick is: Never ever deliver to risky ports! Getting caught drains your money, and you will need it later!
Only when you get the Bribe Card, keep an eye for a top deal like 50 crates for 99$ even in risky ports. Otherwise, never deliver to them! Never! Regarding trade: In the beginning you need to keep an eye on good deals that give you fast money. 10 Crates for 80$ (=800$) is a better deal than 2 Crates for 90$ (180$), for example. Later on you will have enough ships and money to accept any deal. It is now about scoring points, not making profit. Just buy any opium and tea under 50$ and sell it at any non-risky occassion. In the last years, buy ANY tea regardless of the price. You will need it all just to fill the final shipping for these tea-crazy Brits. 16,000 people have won the hard badge so far, you can do it too!
Please thumb it up so others may see it too :)

Ι think that when the deadlines are almost due tea prices tend to drop along with the drugs. This made me quite anxious trying to click everything like mad while shipping drugs all over the sea.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
is there a way to manually sell a ship--seems like if you answer wrong on the dialogue not realizing how screwed you are, then you have nothing to do while you wait for failure

I keep having a very annoying glitch. The game was working fine but my last two plays the only deals I get are from the first three ports which constantly get risky and make it impossible to get anywhere in the game.

Great game.
It has the potential to become awesome tough.
Maybe add more resources like spices, cotton and the likes.
Play with different colonialist nations like spain, portugal or netherlands.
Expand with different ships bringing different advantages,(light ships to protect your merchant ships), posibility to get attacked by pirates and lose your stuff. add silver and gold also as currency.
Maybe add more events and few military/political options to help your trade, like if you have enough money to hire an army, you can take over a trade post and not worry about being caught by officials?
Just my 0.02$ :P

You must give us 600 crates of tea in 2 minuites or you will lose your job, even though your business is starting to look better!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
WOOO!!! I managed to pull it off by following what steeper said "always, always, always buy something." That worked great, I didn't fall behind once, well until the very end I came close to falling behind because my business was so succesful all the ports were "risky". Fun game, challenging enough for me to have to play three times to win.

Hard Badge Guide:
Never sit on your money, and always sell even if it's low profit (except at the beginning when you don't have enough boats). Take advantage of low prices, but never spam the buy 30 unless the market just crashed. A good tactic is constantly buying opium then tea (especially later on), because when you toggle buying between them, I found my market rarely soaring for them that way with prices getting out of control. I had almost 300 tea before the second shipment, once I got two boats. You just have to constantly buy tea to win. And as long as you wait a second or two to click the buy 30 again, the market won't crash.

my only problem is the egregious amount of time it takes to buy large amounts of tea and opium. The amount of tea I need to buy in leader years makes me often lose because I can't buy tea fast because of the delay and the tea prices going up if I buy a lot in a small amount of time. I shouldn't be able to manipulate the tea/opium market this much on my own.

The pace, the pricing, and the quanties make this game extremely unrealistic and the hard badge nearly unobtainable. In concept, I liked the game, but the exponential increase in difficulty isn't scaled well.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I really enjoy this game, but it frustrates me how crippling it is to have to buy Tea with no profit coming back to you... it's a very bizarre business model!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
If you need (or want) a lot of tea or opium all of a sudden, don't click on the same buy tea/opium button 5 times in a row - that'll trigger the "frenetic buying" event. Make a sale or buy just 5 of the other resource every few times. (Upvote please!)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
score is base on how much opium you sell so for the last level do not ever buy any tea but buy all the opium and sell it all if you aiming for the hard badges.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So... I have to spend silver to get opium to get silver to get tea to give it away to increase Britain's tea demands to lose money to try to get more to get risky deals to lose my boats to lose good opium deals to lose tea to lose British tea demands to lose business. In other words, you've screwed yourself from the very minute you enter the tea business.

It feels like to me that I'm not even able to take advantage of the market trends in my favor because the buying amount of 30 is absolutely too small. I'm going to supply the largest population on earth their drugs...but only 30 crates at a time???
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
do not keep huge amount of money turn them all into opium so when you take risky deal you only need to pay small amount of fee if you get caught.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
during the crash in '35 I bought 400 crates and then the price rose to 85$!!!
Oh yeah great game + if you think we should be able to buy larger quantities
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Why did i give my tea for the Britains for free? and they're mad at me when I cannot give them free tea that they demanded :(
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I like the atmosphere much... feels great to buy and sell that stuff. Right, the economics are flawed, because the actual prizes and the messages (e.g. Opium price rise in Bengal) do not always match. Besides, sometimes the opium price rises, but the arrow is green and goes down, and vice versa.
But most of all: How on earth are you supposed to score 80 Million?? I just hit my personal high score and all I got was 59 Million!!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
how am i supposed to win if i have like all locations beeing risky?
either it's a luck based game or i m sooo unlucky to get all my ships impounded
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
SHIT.I'm Chinese. This whole story is true, and it's all about taking silver from China and making Chinese sick ,and addicted to opium.
I'm not being mad, I just sad
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
To get hard badge you need to balance everything quickly. The formula for your score = [(# of opium crates sold) * (# of tea crates sold) * 10] (tho early in game scoring is different). So tea is important too & b/c the game ends due to elapsed time it's best to not let Britain's mood drop much b/c that wastes time that in turn will prevent you from shipping tea for the score multiplier (if you're fast enough, Britain will request a shipment of 720+ tea). Note: if you ever forfeit your ship, you forfeit its crates too & that is usually the real loss. The cost of paying is half your silver so I found that if I needed to get risky w/o a bribe card it's best to do so only when I had just over 1000 (you need 1k+ to pay). Save up ~100 opium before 1832 when prices rise. Try to avoid deals w/ 1-9 crates; otherwise you're increasing port's risk factor w/ little to show for it. Having big stockpiles of opium seemed to give me better offers. Hopefully this will help make you a master trader!

I always get to the final couple years and can't seem to buy tea fast enough. It would be really nice to have amounts larger than 30 crates. You have to push that button a lot to get 400/500 crates of tea. Love the game though! Addicting... like opium and tea.
