This actually resembles Stratego more than it does Chinese chess, unless you have it based on a variant I do not know. Yet, the execution of the game is quite good. 4/5

I got a mummy cornered with a king, and it's the CPU's only piece left. I'm on the Genius difficulty, and the AI is LITERALLY taking forever to think. I guess it can't decide between killing itself and suicide. Cheater... =(

Luck IS a factor, but not the deciding one. I win better than 9 out of 10 matches on expert level. If it was luck, it would 50% or less. You just need to understand the rules that govern the decision process. The computer is fairly agressive about getting your pieces if it ends up with a net point gain. This is sometimes stupid for her to do as it means giving up her last pawn when you already have her king and you have your king still. Which means you can't lose except by stalemate.

Not a bad game. Easy and fun to beat. Could need some adjustments though. Make it as if there was a story to it. That will make it more interesting.

far less luck than first appears, actually a pretty good game. needs resign round as hopeless situations are common. being forced into stalemate positions where you have to wait for the 25 move limit is also too common.

A few improvements, please.
1) A surrender button when things
are bad and you know it's over.
2) A way of tracking what pieces are
left.
3) A way to "jog" the computer when
it freezes and keeps "thinking".

This game takes too much luck. I kept on opening the enemy ones instead of mine and then got owned when mine did come

Helpful hints.
1) Avoid brining in new play pieces, especially if near the pawns if your king is not there yet.
2) Track the # of pawns you kill. If you kill all of his, and his king, you
can't lose.
3) If you want points, you have to lose games. You can lose a game by
having the computer have more points than you and end up in a stale mate by you and he repeating the same moves.
4) The computer is much more aggressive, which is often a good tactict, but materialize new pieces is a good way to lose a piece.
(Having a queen appear next to yours sucks to say the least.)
6) Remember, if it's already on the board, it can't be there again. So if his king and queen are visable, you can materialize a new piece next to your queen w/o mishap.

You can get better over time. You just need to think of what can the worst thing happen is. I.E. If you have a mummy then making a mummy or queen or king appear next
to your mummy is not good. You need to protect your ghosts until the opponent king is dead, but not so much after. I've only played at ordinary, but now I win usually 2 of 3.

I always forget that ghosts kill the king. My king gets killed all the time because I don't even notice them. Maybe if there was a way to remember....

There was a lot of luck involved in this. If I had played on a harder level I would have lost because I had two pieces to the computer's five. It was a bit frustrating, but I definitely see the fun in it. Tough concept, but a good job with it.

Really nice, except for the fact that pieces are random and once your enemy has a queen and your king is dead, it's a won game for him.

Great game, yet the 25 moves rule is really annoying, I put the comp. exactly where I want, and then he wins, cause 25 moves passed.
I would recommend making the 25 changeable, but until then, it's only 4/5 stars

Not convinced by 50:50 on hard computer, there should be equal numbers of each colour each game, and the same number of pieces for each team. Perhaps predetermine exactly what pieces are hidden, and hide those randomly rather than skewing the odds so the human gets a king surrounded by pawns and the computer gets a queen to rampage the human's pawns and rooks

i might just be unlucky but the cpu controlled played seems to be alot more lucky with the pieces than i am! frustrating
