I love this sort of game, and the Prelude was really well done. I like the addition of more different effects bubbles and the continuation of the storyline through the stages is neat in Act 1. The omission of the boiler is a misstep. It makes me sad to incinerate the letters I don't want anymore. The pay-for-play though, is just silly. I would honestly consider it for, say, an ipod game, but Kong? meh. I'll continue to play it, because I love anagram-type games and there are relatively few on kong, but I'm disappointed in the direction this series is going.

I dont see why people hate this game so much. The Paid content is very annoying true but still the game has some things the prelude dosent. It continues the storyline, has difficulty levels, and uses a different system for it. Although i do believe it is annoying to have to pay for stage 3 and 4. Which blows out a huge chunk of interest for me.

What about paying to get your choice of letter, and the upgrade that goes with it? Still allowing others to play for ages and ages to get them, but making money from those who want to do it quickly? As it stands... I need to get back to the prelude before it gets taken down!

So we have to pay....
I don't know if you noticed but brass and jade letters were locked to premium content.
As we got used to them in the first part they lock it down the second. Removed the boiler so we couldn't have them without paying.
Message to the creator:
I loved the first part.It was full of content, music was awesome and everything!
But now if you keep locking down THIS much of the game, I and a lot of other people are most likely going to stop playing the game. It's just not worth it.
Maybe you can add the boiler again, but still being able to BUY brass and jade letters with secrets , while still locked as premium content, but also being able to make them.
You're just losing players guys..... Stop this bullshit 'cause it's not gonna work...
There are other ways to earn money from your games, but this is one of the most awkward ones. EVERYONE WHO AGREES WITH ME RATE UP!

I miss the boiler! I also miss the game not having to be paid for. Come on, guys. What's up with that? Those two things aside, I like the new types of letters you've added.

I loved Clockwords Prelude, but DEMOS DO NOT BELONG ON KONGREGATE. I don't come here to play unfinishable games, and I can't afford to pay. One star, please release the full version to your loving fans.

I agree with most people here, the game has been made unnecessarily more complicated. It was fine the way it was, without in-game achievements. The letters with new features are no good if you type extra long words, especially if you (and this doesn't happen so rarely) mistype it. Disappointing, I'm back to the old game and its frustrating level 81. Cheers.

The prelude was definitely better. They tried to add too much, and removed the better parts of the game. Removing the boiler was definitely a mistake. I was excited to be able to use the fire and cold, but they're almost not worth it.

You know not to make an Act 2 when Act 1 was a helluva lot worse than the prequel. 1/5 for locked content, and really, nothing else at all new.
Prelude: 5/5
Act 1: 1/5

It really is amazing how adding more options made the game less interesting. In part that's because they're locked behind the pay-for-it wall, but I think it's also surprisingly frustrating to have so many different point bonuses at once. Word length, speed, using the letters in the tubes--and some of those letters are changing or disappearing...it's gone from "simple and elegant" to "an overloaded mess".

Seems like you've posted a demo, not a game -- your demo gets a 1. Next time, post a full game for a full rating. Better luck next time! See http://www.kongregate.com/forums/1/topics/76043 for more information about demos.

Is it possible for a sequel that adds content to be inferior to the original? If it locks up a bunch of that content as paid material, blatantly waving it in front of your face at each turn in an obvious money-grabbing scheme, quite possibly.

Gameplay is much improved, especially with rewards for word length and response time, but the interface is awfully cluttered now.

Much as I love Clockwords, having to pay to unlock the extra content is not really satisfactory, especially since it seems to be crucial to the story that I like. If it was extra content, fair enough, but it's right there...4/5.
