HarvestSun has the upgrades right, but a high accuracy bonus is more than the 2500 you'll get from not shooting though breaking their ship lowers the gold you can loot off of them once you have max crew you can afford to fire a few shots while boarding the opposing vessel to ensure you have 100% accuracy at lower cost to the gold the give than the bonus you'll receive later.

To all my fellow badge hunters, I would recommend NOT listening to the top commenters on this game. I followed their advice and failed miserably on my first go. Here is what worked awesomely for me... First, buy men until they are maxed out, and for levels 1-9, DON'T FIRE YOUR CANNONS. You will get a 2500 gold bonus for not shooting. Once men are maxed out, max out speed. You will need it. Then get a few turning upgrades (4 or so), and then max out reload and damage. By level 10, you should have them almost maxed out, but not quite. If you have spare money, put it into number of cannons. The most important advice, though: DON'T BUY SHIP STRENGTH. Ship strength BARELY increases your health, and it makes you a much larger target. It is not only useless, it makes you worse off. With those upgrades, levels 10-12 should be a breeze.

Spend all of your gold on crew, because if you lose too many crew, you will be unable to reload your guns quickly enough. after that, go for damage, reload time, and guns.

Level 6 following johnkelly's idea didn't work out. But when i did this, it past it with 20 or so pirates left. And so I recommend doing this:
End of level 1: buy 2 men upgrades, 1 of cannon and damage. End of level 2: repeat level 1, End of level 3: buy cannon, dmg, and reload. Buy men if you can too. End of level 4: buy cannon, speed, turning, and dmg once. Then get men and ship upgrade if you can. Once you get this rhythm, continue to max men, cannons and damage. Then start on speed, turning, and a bit of ship endurance. 3 reload points should be enough. Now continue to buy after rounds, hope this helps.

i enjoyed playing this game thought u should be able to build ur own ship and add new sails and other stuff but overall 4/5

Would be a simple game were it not for the horrendous lag that occurs as soon as there are more than 4 ships on the screen. 3/5

Good game, but i don't really understand the mechanic of enemy ships moving backwards to stick to your ship and fight your pirates, while you cannot move backwards.

It's much better to max out all of your pirates and such. Spend time and money on improving them and not so much your cannons, because there's too much risk involved in cannon fire exchange. After you've maxed out pirates, get the best speed and armor available on the high seas. Then put your remaining gold into reload speed and cannonball damage.

A simple game, more like a sailing game than a naval war. Using Johnkelly00's strategy, you can breeze through the game. Hard badge is a bit more of an endurance badge than a difficult badge. Despite this, it's quite fun and good for a relaxing game, taking a break from the hordes of tower defense games on Kongregate. 4/5

Argghh... listen you scurvy dogs. Put all your loot into men and then ship strength. You won't even need to fire a cannon until level 11. After maxing those two, invest in speed and turn speed and you are set. Argghhh!

Becomes horribly laggy later on, gotta try it on a better PC. The game isnt actually hard once you get the hang of it, the later levels arent much harder than the early ones.

As I won Admirals setting trice now, I state this game rather easy. Its just about tactics: u can board through the first levels losing no gold. Get high accuracy bonus with firing 1 shot broad side. level 11 is a bit difficult, but you can still win if you sink everything. level12: avoid losing crew and board the boss with ~130 crew.
4/5 cause you CAN board through the first 9 levels.
