Under rating threshold (show) I really miss the multiple and random effects of sanity loss from the original game, always unpredictable (that's the meaning of insanity!). You never knew what could happen, and, best of all, you had to adapt your gameplay to the different obstacles if you want to survive. This game is not the same without that "chaos factor"...

Under rating threshold (show) Was so excited for this sequel... started playing, wasn't bad. Then one game my sanity finally reached zero. "Ooooooo" I said to myself, "I wonder what awesome game changer I'll get this time? Xenophobia? Schizophrenia? Some awesome Megalomania?" Then.... nothing. I just couldn't play cards until I got my sanity back up. I loved the original because sanity was more than just a mana point counter, it actually effected the game and gave it more depth than just "keep beating the enemy with the most cost effective cards." Is this sequel just a cruel joke from the elder gods to make me go insane from withdrawal of a true successor to the original?

Under rating threshold (show) I've been waiting a long time for this sequel, and I'm so glad it's finally here! Some things I love about this game include: The wide range of cards now available, the amazing artwork (if i do say so myself ;) ), the achievements and the new level select and ranking system. However, I believe the game could be vastly improved with 2 small features - when loading the game, it should go to the level select screen, instead of going straight into a match. The other feature is the card library. I miss this feature from the first game, where you could view the entire list of cards in the game with ease. Another thing I miss is the ability to unlock cards as you play through. I really enjoyed playing with a limited deck at first and then expanding it as i progressed through the game. However, I thoroughly enjoy this game, and well done for managing to create another masterpiece! 5/5, and favourite!

Under rating threshold (show) I loved the first game, and was happy to see a sequel ... but overall I'm finding this one much less compelling. Specifically: - Sanity loss is almost never a factor, since sanity totals usually stay so high that it's irrelevant. Thus one of the major balancing factors of the original game is eliminated, and many cards lose their significance. Discarding for sanity is never necessary, and playing a high-cost card doesn't feel like a difficult choice. - The game seems way too easy overall. I only lost 3-4 games on the way to completion, and got S rank on the first try in all but about 5 cases. I was sad to see that even Great Cthulhu had far weaker stats than I did. - I hope the challenge modes from the first game will return; they provided most of the replay value for me. Sorry for all the negativity -- it's still a great concept, I just hope it can reach its potential!

Under rating threshold (show) bring back chaos to insanity, challenge mode, and unlock cards. This game has very little chaos, and it's now like every other card game instead of the amazingly chaotic original. It's comfortable to grind in this version, but I could do that with any game.

Under rating threshold (show) While it is a decent duplicate of the original, as many mentioned here, some things are missing. The power of cards, in general, seems to be reduced. Going insane is much worse, the insanity effects before made going insane for a few turns not so bad. The cards are much less powerful in general. Your power in relation to your opponent is much closer, especially with a few S wins, it can be greater. Your opponent also has the same cards as you, in the other game they often had a few better ones than what you had unlocked. What this adds up to is a much less Cthulu-esque game. In the original you had to risk playing powerful cards that could drive you insane just to bring down your much-more-powerful opponent who could play even stronger cards you hadn't seen yet without much trouble. That really captured the genre; you often needed to risk everything for a chance at winning, which could be knocked away if you weren't lucky.

Under rating threshold (show) When comparing to the original game, this "sequel" is dwarfed by Necronomicon. Too many cards were nerfed (Dark young charge did 14+ arcane damage, Essence healed 9 health, Dark Ritual did 10+ arcane damage then healed 3), a lot of new mechanics were added (The tomes were meant to be used once and not to be in constant play. Characters? Neat, but no. Attackers and Defenders? Those stats are a "tad" off. Locations? Ok, but why tho?) The new and old card arts mesh in a bad way. It just doesn't look right, they're not as gritty and surreal as they are in the old game. Overall: a lack-luster sequel to a legendary game. (One final note: Why was Shub-Niggurath changed from the best summon-able creature for 8 sanity, to a Great old one that has to be summoned by playing 3-4 dark star cards [which never works out]? T___T)

Under rating threshold (show) I miss the different insanity effects and some of the high-powered cards. I liked a lot of the changes to gameplay, but I miss many of the old cards. Also, it could use some badges. It's going in the right direction, but I agree it's not a "true successor."

Under rating threshold (show) I liked the old sanity system, where you get a random insanity with 0 and below. Now only suicidal and his randomness takes off a fun part of the game. It's good having character, location, etc...except tome, I don't see the fact that you can't read many books, and apply everything you learn. I miss old King in Yellow, Ibn-Ghazi, Yog-Sothoth, Shub-Nig, R'Lyeh (however it's spelled), etc. Multi-creature is nice, and star alignment is an awesome idea. But the game needs to be more challenging (it's VERY easy right now), challenge mode and deck editor if possible, to add or remove a few cards (a deck with only heavy hitters would be too OP). I also miss unlocking cards, challenges and cards library. If you do Necro 3, I'd take back the old insanity system and add more chars, locations, etc. Nice new ideas, keep the good work! Necro 1: 5/5 (Little evolved, is a good starting point) Necro 2: 3,5/5 (The insanity fun is taken off, very easy)

Under rating threshold (show) Some of the achievements don't seem to trigger properly. I.E. I just took out an opponent without dropping a single physical attack card, yet I still did not get the "pure magic" achievement. And the "beat someone while suicidal" is impossible if you have enough S ranks that you never go insane.

Under rating threshold (show) I enjoyed getting new cards like in the first one. Still a really fun game. I would love to see factions you could choose from and start as if you make a sequel. Each faction could have their own cards and characters and locations. Plus you could make a story and gain new knowledge about Cthulu as you defeat opponents and gain new cards. Thanks for keeping Cthulu alive!

Under rating threshold (show) Why is it that, when I load game, it starts me at the beginning of a level instead of putting me at the level select screen? Also, it doesn't start me at the newest level, it makes me start at the last level beaten, which caused me to kill my "S" rank on that level. :/ Very annoying.

Under rating threshold (show) I have to agree with the commenters who say the first one was more fun. The insanity issue was merely part of it. The numbers seem to be a bit off here for balance. With a little work, this'll definitely be a 5/5, but it isn't there yet. Keep working!

Under rating threshold (show) can you update the game please? The pace is great and the variety of attacks are fun, but... 1)MORE CARDS! Quantity, varirty, and type! there are only two Character cards, two different types of tomes, etc. 2)The creature defense is confusing and inconsistent. Sometime one will disappear, or both, or none at all 3)stack tomes! 4)the Whatley character card doesn't return the taint after it is removed once. 5)all thirty rounds are basically the same, just more life, magic, etc. Maybe add challenges or MORE CARDS. Better yet, introduce new cards of increasing power as the rounds progress. There is little incentive to slog through 30 rounds when they are all the same. 6)there is no way to eliminate opponents' arcane magic 7)bring back insanity effects (I know we've all heard this one already) This game is soooooooooo close to 5 stars. Thanks for the effort, hope to see more soon!

Under rating threshold (show) I really like the sequel! It makes the game much more tactical and fun, especially with the 4 monster slots. My only complaint has to do with the sanity thing, I liked the old rules around sanity better. But still, amazing game 5/5

Under rating threshold (show) It's a good sequel. Hard at the beginning because many of the cards from the original have been changed or nerfed. Some of them are missing too--where's Yog-Sothoth? I don't like the change to insanity; there was more strategy involved with different kinds of mental diseases helping or hindering. As you play on and get more S's it's a lot easier. Just like the last game, there's no real ending, which is a let-down...there ought to be an ultimate rank each time you manage to summon a Great Old One per level, considering how hard it is to do that currently (what are the three kinds? Cthlulhu, 1000 Woods, and what?)

Under rating threshold (show) Got it! some cards are marked with a black star-like shaped figure in the right corner, such as "The Dunwich Horror" these kind of cards connect the stars. On the other hand there are some with white star-like shaped figures, such as "Dawn of a new day", these erase the connection between stars. Rate up if it helped, so others can see this.

I have never played a Cthulhu mythos game that went against the themes of the Cthulhu mythos as much as this one and it is glorious. Less angsting about existental nihilism and more just having henchmen machine gun the great old ones in the face is a good direction

Under rating threshold (show) and remember to keep players who play heavy arcane decks in check by not giving us too much starting sanity but high enough that it takes a bit of doing to drive someone who plays all 0 cost cards insane. i do like that you get twice the number of sanity points for discarding in this game though since skipping a turn is a pretty big peanalty.

Under rating threshold (show) I like the game, but I have two big gripes. First is the lack of deck building, and second is the reliance on luck. I can be completely ****ed by my hand. Utterly. Recently, I got poisoned for 7, the opponent was attacking with a shargoth and one of those tentacle tainting 5/5 creatures, I couldn't keep any creatures in play, and most of my hand (4 cards) didn't do anything (dispell, bookworms, useless tome, Assassinate). It was incredibly frustrating, as this was the third game in a row (though by far the worst) in which I hadn't stood a chance. Every game needs to be winnable, and when there are around 1/3 to 1/2 that aren't...well...that needs to be fixed. Perhaps give the option to discard your hand, and not gain anything. or discard any three cards, and not gain anything. Basically, some method to cycle through cards more efficiently.

Under rating threshold (show) How about putting us on the select screen vs into the start of a match when we choose to "play game"? Also, if I replay a match (maybe because I am forced to by choosing to "play game") and I get an unlucky draw and end up getting a score lower than my current (ie I had an S, but forced to replay and got a D due to an unlucky draw) why does my rank downgrade? The standard is to keep your highest rank obtained during a level.

Under rating threshold (show) the sequel to the infamous Necronomicon! I had to pause myself as I recalled the epic struggle for the impossible badge. good times. well, the sequel, so far I've seen, features mostly slightly increased complexity by categorizing cards (location, attacking/defending positions, items...) and a few new additions. so far I've passed half of it, but not much new has been seen... the game is still ridiculously hard at times, the cards are the same, the game's "campaign" is something we've seen before. I however hope some of this changes before the end. :) many great thanks to you, Cthulhu fans, for making this game possible.

Under rating threshold (show) This game has such a potential to be a REALLY incredible game, I sincerely love the concept and the playability, but it needs more cards to make the game more different, because with the variety you have here, you get bored of it very fast. Another thing that would add a "better taste" to the game would be a true score at the high scores page, just like the badges, scores make people want to play more to be the best player =]. I really, really hope that there will be some updates fixing those things, and I will be very glad to help with art or anything to my reach =).
