Very nice game! I love the fact that has a pretty high difficulty and need a plan before go on to kill enemis.
A warning for the developer: when i step in the last black book, the game has frozen and forced me to replay the whole level :/
The bug is already fixed, but you probably still have the old game in your cache. To reload the current version, right-click on the game and select "This Frame" then "Reload Frame".

can you make a degrade for spells, i made one too powerful and now i keep hurting myself with friendly fire, that or make it so my spells dont hurt me, thanks

It keeps forgetting my game (no continue option). Don't have this problem with other kongregate games - what is it using to store session info between browser executions?

I've no problems running the game on that version with AdblockPlus and Adguard enabled. It might be your antibanner plugin. Look at their range. Like you, they can only cast a spell or walk. So when they turned invisible, they are still on the same spot. When they are invisible, they will take the shortest route to attack you, so you can estimate where they are and freeze them ;)

Game tip (after finishing it): Upgrade and use Invisible Spell. Lure them in line and vanish into thin air. Sneak into distant tile and blow them up with Fire Ball. That's it!

Great game, but it doesn't load on internet explorer, and I expirience performance issues on chrome. If there was any way for you to fix that, it would be epic! Thank you.
It should run on IE11, maybe you have to update your browser. It runs best on (up-to-date) Chrome, the performance issues you experience are most likely just the audio files being loaded in the background. As soon as everything is in your cache the game should run smoothly :)

Checkpoints are really needed, some of the levels are really challenging and take a lot of time to finish so it's really annoying having to redo the whole level, plus theres not much healing potions either, its a real struggle. Other than that it's a great game, I think it is perfect.

It's fixed! :) To reload right-click on the game and select "This Frame" > "Reload Frame"

so i got stuck on the hedgmaze with skeletons because i apparently chose the wrong upgrades for the spells, and there's no way to go back to an earlier level/save or to respec the upgrades. i rated low, since you apparently didn't bother playtesting this to make sure all choices work.
You can get through that level without a single upgrade. Most of the game can be played without upgrades, at least on Novice. Just a warning, when you try to get the black & red book in the underground room with the mummy king, the game freezes.
What kind of browser do you use? Depending on the browser you use, could you press CTRL+SHIFT+i to open the developer tools, then click on the "console" tab and send us the contents to contact@hypnoticowl.com? That would help us a lot :)
Thanks for the info! What kind of browser are you using? It seems like the sound is only repeated under certain circumstances, we haven't quite figured out, yet. If it get's too annoying, you can disable sound effects in the options menu, which is accessible in the game.

Great game 4/5. The only recommendation I'd have aside from fixing the freezing bug is to alter the sound affects a bit. I had to mute mine after listening to the after effects of the lightning spell for 15 minutes straight.
We're looking into the problem of the endless repeating lightning spell effect sounds! Freeze is now fixed To reload right-click on the game and select "This Frame" > "Reload Frame" :)

really high quality game for a free one, but one helpful change would be showing what an extra level will do for a spell
right now, you add a point without knowing exactly what will change
it's predictable, but still annoying
To see what the different spell levels change, click on the 3 gems beneath the spell description. These will update the description to show what this level of the spell does. :)

how to win easy the novice difficult :at begin use freeze+bolt and when you have the first fire spell+invisible :the game have no difficult . (maybe fix that "cheat" with making monster moove after saw you when you are invisible)

What's your screen resolution? The game is actually able to resize. Unfortunately, with the way it's integrated in Kongregate, it can't do that. We don't really want to make the game smaller for everybody, but maybe we'll reduce it a bit. You can scale the website on your end by pushing "CTRL"+"-". You can also always play it on our website, where it will be scale to your resolution :)

Same issue as tulio. That's upsetting, I worked my way through the level 2 times and it froze 2 times. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I can't just go on and leave it there...which means my only other option is stopping and hoping it gets fixed.

Sorry i dont see how to pass the beginning of lvl four... seems only the beginning of the lvl is confusing and then it is mutch easier so its BAD design of a level....
also only one live in game like that is kinda extreme
That's true! We've thought about adding this, but it's a lot of work and we weren't sure if people would like the game enough to make it worth adding. So this might still be added ;)

Cute, fun game. Liked the variance in strategy, how some books were OP but it was always your choice whether to use them or not, etc. Wouldnt mind being able to go back to a level skipped to see what sort of things you may have missed. An over all level screen that you deploy from would be nice, even though it would make it less linear (just to experiment and play around in). Real potential, fun gimmick, just enough story to make it worth reading, without being overdone. 4/5, good game, hope you keep messing with the idea to expand it

I also am getting stuck at the mummy princess as soon as i get the book. Hope it's fixed soon, i love this game. I like the art and gamrplay and even really like the spell casting system.

And another thing: I misunderstood the 2nd spell upgrade description or better: I am not sure about the range, that the spell will have after the upgrade.
Yeah, it's not very intuitive, but it was the best we could with that much space. Basically the spell will reach 1 tile farther. You can always upgrade it at the start of a level, try it out and reload if you did't like it :)
