This game really lends itself to fun self imposed challenges, my favorite is to use the scroll of domination to nab an enemy healer and try to keep this one alive until the very end while still clearing every inch of the dungeon.

I just got a crazy game. I think i got the highest max hitpoits ever. I got 165 using warrior. I had a +5 health ring, maxed out fortitude on talents and skills, than i used 6-8 hp potions. The I had about 26 strength.Does anyone have any higher max hitpoints?

@marcustu Some weapons are two-handed and can't be used with a shield, but you can still equip a shield alongside these weapons. This is because it's sometimes a good strategy to switch between several weapons for different situations, and allowing shields to be equipped alongside two-handed weapons means you don't have to waste time reequipping the shield when you switch to a one-handed weapon. Your equipment setup should display the shield slot with a red background if you have a shield equipped with a two-handed weapon. Hope this helps!

@AlexNeb for mage runs and Wishing wells/acquire scrolls, pick the staff option and run with what it gives you. any staff is better than the starter staff, and it's better to have to different elements types anyway to combat element resistance.

After five years, I finally beat the 5-in-a-row daily challenge. I don't know why I persevered so much, but I just kept going cuz I wanted to see that "5" light up. Even with all the exploits, like getting Charm of Blinking ASAP, still made me struggle when it wasn't available. I feel relieved and satisfied. phew.

Apparently the drop rate for me is BS, I spent over 50 times refreshing at a wishing well and got everything BUT a fire staff.

The only, "hey that's not fair" that i still struggle with is having a barbarian with a +3 shock axe and strafe ability. Hear me out: auto attacking a creature hidden in water, and the ripple shock KO's you after full health.
TLDR: don't take shock weapons into the water with strafe attack.

@AlexNeb. "Drain" takes health from one person and gives part to the caster. You can even cast it on charmed monsters

Man I had it good, got an Inferno sword on the first level, and got strength gloves on the second, got a +1 spear on the third. Was cruising easy till I got to floor 10. Took a few steps and immediatly got a teleport trap right into a giant swarm of mobs, then I managed to open a hole to try and run, immediately fell into a pit trap and was surrounded by poisonous mobs with nowhere to go. I was so frustrated.

Fun fact: If you use confusion on an enemy and then scroll of domination, they will attack you but you can't hit them back. :D

got oneshotted by my own arrow reflected by a crystal golem. a tunnel shot with critical my 60 health all gone in spite of high evade and protection. on penultimate level. please nerf and/or add a save feature(i know thats not very roguelike). that being said, very cool game!

@archerbob No one is giving you the best way out which is easy: F5. If you reload the page it reverts back to the last time you used stairs. Easy out for nearly every time you're backed into a corner. Here's the extra fun with F5: If you use a Scroll of Acquirement or Well of Wishing and don't like what you get just hit F5. Every time you use either of those you'll get something different. Hunting for a specific Staff or Charm? Keep on trying until you get it. The timer always resets to when you hit the stairs, too, so it makes the speed runs easier.

Also to keep the long comment going. Don't take abilities that give you short term buffs. Waste of mana and its barely noticeable. Just buff what you have and take things that give more mana/health as those are more permanent. And be sure to use mana and health potions to give you more stats! It's a trap to use them as actual potions unless in a desperate situation. 9/10 its better to take the permanent +4 from the health potion and the permanent +3 from mana potions. REMEMBER, they only give you those buffs if you use them when either your health is full for the health potion or your mana is full for the mana potion.

@archerbob, move around when using stairs so one or two follow. Then use mushrooms on previous floors. You should have already cleared the floor so go to helpful things. Stealth only works if you max for it and if you have sleep dart. Hit and run until dart is back up. Stealth is more of crit than actual stealth. Do use the map. Pretty much any terrain gives you and the enemy the unstable status. Whoever is unstable gets free crtits. Make enemies follow you to where they are standing on something that makes them unstable. BAM. Free crit. Remember though, max one stat only. The game is tilted to that. If you're not maxing one thing you'll lose. Ability wise, focus 2 or 3 things if possible. Better dmg output that way. Oh yeah, Evasion OP. I hope that helps! I've maxed every achievement in this version of the game and before the recent wipe and was sitting at around a 55% win rate with like 100ish runs. @TheSuperiorNoah using the stairs is pointless because even if I use them to escape, the monsters follow me to the previous or next floor. Using the map is also pointless if your immediately in a room full of monsters with high hp that rape you. One thing I've really noticed in this game is that stealth doesn't work at all, so putting points or using armor that gives you stealth is also pointless

@archerbob use the environment, corners and stairs to your advantage. Also, I only ever focus the stat most associated with what I'm playing, e.g. Archer only range, mages (magic), rouge (stealth). Trying to balance stats is a bad idea. Bu the biggest thing is using the map to your advantage.
