This is real world electronic engineering- FYI yellow and Red Silicon must also be connected with VIA for a gate to function. Very good!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Takes forever just to even begin to understand the concept, runs really slow too... Metal is NOT isolated from silicon. I tested this. Any time metal and silicon are crossed, something screws up...

Okay, major complaint here
The tutorial video REALLY sucks. It flashes through text and images a mile a minute and doesn't let you pause it except when it's displaying the text that actually stays on the screen long enough anyway, which happens to be the text that isn't important. This causes the game to be completely inaccessible. Bravo, you've made a load of crap for a game.

very nice game! ah, i found another nice game! it`s kind of a real life simulation. you can work and fight in wars there, get involved in politics or build up your own company for example! just use my this if you want to join: http://www.erepublik.com/en/referrer/tmv23 to get you a good start: the first things you need to do there are: get a job in a company and work there, upload an avatar and after you did that train to raise your strength. Then buy some food and login again at the next day. At the begin you have not much possibilities to be honest BUT: Every level you gain you have more possibilities! by the way, the power of the countries depends on their citizens, so join and support your country! For example at the moment there is a huge war between Hungary/Russia/Indonesia/Serbia/France/UK and some other allies against USA/Croatia/Canada/Poland/Sweden

I LOVE this game. I grew up with electronics kits and never really understood what was going on. After an hour or two with this program I GOT IT. Everything clicked. Now I'm spending waaay too much time playing, er, solving basic Elec. Engineering homework problems and I'm having inordinate quantities of fun. I hate you, krispykrem. This game is my Achilles heel. >:P

Just finished the first set of 6! Finally, a use for my elec-eng courses at uni... though that only went down to the gate level, not the silicon... Anyways, 5/5, obligatory "needs badges".

i'de kiss the creator if he wanted, i love this game man... just put 2 hours in solving lvl 5 (no cheating) i think this will use allot of my time in the future..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i would say I'm terrible at it, but since some people can't even beat the first level I don't quite have as much shame in saying I'm stuck on level 4 after much trouble in sorting out level 3.

OK. So I read a couple of walkthroughs and finally figured out how this thing works. Man, this is a challenge. I love it! There is always room for improvement but I have very few complaints for this evil monster... just completed the dual frequency oscillator without a walkthrough - took me hours to finally get it right.

also ability to color-code lines yourself would be awesome (i.e. so i can easily differentiate between +VCC-bearing lines and conditionals). so each line is gray/red/yellow, with a strip down the middle of color Z, whatever that may be.

game is awesome! but a "Are you sure?" for deleting design snippets would have been nice, or at least putting the button in a different place than the Verify button on the verify page... /me rebuilds lost snippet yet again

Oh dear, this is complicated stuff. Do you need highest grade electronics for this or something? I didn't even understood the tutorial level.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh. 'Cause I completed it with 15. xD I'm not going to give ye all the code for it, as not to ruin the highscores for the level. But I will give you this hint: Be a slacker. Look at the similarities between the B1 output and the Y1 input.

I edited some person's level 4 from 9 pages or so from here, and I got this... XD

I was so confused when starting this, mostly because I was playing the game on firefox. I switched to IE, made the thing I saw in the tutorial, ran half of the verification test, and it just snapped in my head! I finally understand this game. Hopefully I'll learn the more complicated bits the same way as I go.

here is lvl 11 done by slightly modifying someone's lvl 8 - actually switching both dual toggles in succession makes the div/4-counter:

Blegh, I am clueless about how to go about 4 and 5 (though I did manage to make it oscillate really quickly once, by accident). Is there a guide for how to make oscillators for dummies, or something?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Maybe I'm just building things inefficiently, but it's a bit confusing to keep track of what's connected to what, between the silicon and the metal and the vias. Would it be possible to add some function where you click on a piece of silicon, or a connection pad, or a gate, and have it show you only the bits that are actually connected to that one element?

Is there any way to see the high score table for level 9? So far I managed score 110 for that level. Does anyone know if a better score exists for it?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
lvl 15 appears...faulty? The verifaction signal your's is supposed to match doesn't output everything that's been input...in one case it outputs twice as much as was input...I can build a chip to make it do that, but if I build an actual addressable ram chip, and save every signal exactly as it says, it only has a 70% match when it's read back... Bit0 writes 1/reads 2, bit1 w0/r0, bit2 w1/r1, bit3 w0/r0, bit4 w1/r0, bit5 w1/r0, bit6 w0/r0, bit7 w1/r2. all that write have an opportunity to read, yet some don't, 2 that write read twice...

...I don't get lvl 4...how do you get the signal to be timed? Stop after a short bit and switch to another? I ran a line, used up the entire screen, but it barely delayed...Don't get it... is there anything other than NPN and PNP gates that it doesn't show?

wearypenguin: You got the design of your circuit correct, the problem is that the duration of signal the game gives you on T messes things up. The level goal says to act when T goes from low to high. You tried using delays to patch the problem, but delays are the wrong tool for the job. They don't really fit with what you're trying to do.
You need a new tool. Try this: start with a blank level and run a line from T1 pad into a delay transistor and then out to the Q0 pad, except *reverse the colors for this transistor*. See what it does. (It's much easier to follow the graph if you go from T1 to Q0.) Run the level and watch the graphs. (Or better yet, try to mentally work out what it will do before you run it!) That's probably hint enough to solve the level on your own, but I'll make another post with a level load code in case you need it. Run it to see the demo I explained, or delete the demo transistor and connect the dotted line to see how I got your circuit to work.
