Alas, this game _seems_ to work at the start, but tries to load a swf file that doesn't exist. This game was so good though. I miss it.

This is the carry over code, in case Gather Up ever does come to light.

The mechanics are difficult. And there seems to be no linear progression apparent as far as I played. Also the fact that the abilities reset the next day really cheesed me. :) XD
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Naud1234 there is no way you should be taking that long to beat the game. Especially if you already have a previous save.

I've had my Level Up carry over data saved for over 10 years waiting for a sequel. A truly great game and such a shame nothing more came of it.

Nearly a decade later, I truly still wonder where Titch is now, and if we will ever get Gather Up at all... I know that it's likely to never come, but.... I can hope.

I only have 1.5 hours left today. Last time I played for over an hour and didn't even beat the game normally. No BOTD for me today.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Um, 100% completion for BOTD? Are you guys insane?! That's basically getting 3 medium badges for a single BOTD since if you get it, you already have gotten far enough to get the other 2. This would be a hard badge if we didn't get the other 2 medium badges for lesser tasks.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
For anyone who is doing BotD today: if you want to send a screenshot with your 100% completion you need to do it before you finish the game. You can use the computer at 95%, but don't use it at 100% until you made that screenshot, because(no spoilers) after what happens at the end the story starts from the beginning with 0%.

On top of not saving my game, it's super easy to lose progress or lose a day by accidentally clicking c and x too fast. These features seem very poorly designed especially in a game that's nominally supposed to be about progress. Not so much as a "are you sure"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Wait... it didn't... save my game? I have to start completely over? Aw man, I was intrigued to come back but now I'm kinda mad and don't wanna play out of spite.

The game is fun. The controls are a little wonky, but you get used to them as you level up and play more, not that it makes them any good, just more tolerable. Still, if you can get over that, it's fun for the duration of 2 hours that it took me to beat it 100%. Not bad.

What an incredibly unique Metroidvania! I loved it! There are some tiny parts that bugged me, but honestly I'm gonna play the sequel as soon as I can.

Game controls stuck going right. Can't do anything else. Game is extremely clunky. All the reasons that I hate platform games.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
almost a decent game the fighting the nightmare and erasing all progress is really really stupid and makes this game bad
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Much better game than a lot of people seem to be rating it. I like the fact that skills increase over time. It's very doable, but takes more time than some BOTDs. Not good I guess for people in a rush!

What satisfies me is a game with a sense of progression
Calling it an RPG is a joke, tell me one RPG where your character can't attack.. this is a platformer, and a bad one.. the 80s is calling you for this "soap icy floor can't jump because you are sliding" nightmare
I never skip a badge of the day, but you did it, sir
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Thank god I finally beat it thanks to reading comments, I maxed my stats but didnt know what to do then I did again and got the badge. I thought I had to beat the nightmare guy (which seems impossible, he stopped dropping gems around about half hp). I think 2/5 stars is pretty generous for this

Dearest archerbob, ty for missing my point which is I have little interest in playing games that exist just to force the player to repeat everything they did repeatedly for no reason other than the dev thinks it's amusing to do so. In this case you have to constantly re-collect all of the gems every single day which is akin to doing the same daily quests every single day in a MMORPG and I am not jumping through this dev's hoops for the BotD when I don't actually have to.

Welp, good thing I already earned all the badges 7 years ago because even after turning off all my ad blockers and whatnot, I'm still getting a black screen after running the sponsor logos.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Lol. I figured out how to LOAD A SAVE. When you start the game again, just open Codex, and select LOAD. Voila! Game is loaded from where you played last time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Wow, controls are a bit shite, aren't they? Conjstantly missing platforms by overshooting them because I have almost no control over my horizontal movement.

But as for things that AREN'T as bad as you think they are -- the slippy ice controls get better as you level up running. That's supposed to be an annoying thing that is less annoying as you go on. When you lose all your stats at the end of the first day, you don't actually lose ALL your stats -- most importantly, you keep your "Learning" stat, meaning that you level your stats up much, much faster on subsequent days. And so, on the second night and beyond, when you've got actual decent skills, you CAN defeat the shadow and keep your skills. I can usually beat the game on the second or third day, having only had to beat the shadow once or twice.

A couple comments on a lot of the most annoying things in this game -- I do enjoy it, but it's got some weaknesses. But also some things that look like weaknesses that aren't, as much. The bugginess of the codex interface is the biggest one -- closing it seems to involve some random combination of hitting escape, space, x, and c, but I'm never sure exactly WHAT combination. Still, if I hit them enough, it works eventually. Mostly. The lack of a working save function is also annoying, since it means you have to play the entire thing in one sitting.
