A somewhat laggy music game akin to guitar hero (remember that used to be a thing?). Cheesy voices too. Not my taste in music. Luckily the badge of the day is relatively easy. The awkward control scheme and lack of polished gameplay makes me not want to play it any further though.

As you do have some form of microtransactions, I can't help but feel the reward levels were put at a fairly low rate to coerce some players into that. Game is an otherwise average launch game.

Since I assume the game is now "complete" given the lack of updates, I'll say the game started off alright... but is ultimately flawed. The main issue is drops are scaled to your overall power/stat totals. I can change my equipment around, and my drop rate changes. While this ensures people play at "appropriate" levels, this is not fun. Not at all. This means I am never actually any more powerful; gear is simply random "levels". I can't even acquire gear or other things at a reasonable rate because it's always the same, boring, slow pace. The numbers may change, but there is no feeling of progress. And it keeps becoming slower. I make faster progress by being offline, which isn't right for an idle game that also has some form of manual play. I was hoping you would change this before you stopped development. However, because of how it is now, I would not and cannot recommend this game.

Weapon balancing is pretty terrible for later guns. The grind for "levels" is agonizingly dull when you beat the main campaign and only have 1/3 of them unlocked. Decent game until you hit the "end" and have to grind for "levels" to have what I assume is a necessity for the survival badge.

Drop rates that scale to your level sucks. It makes the already slow gear grind (the only way to get reasonably stronger) worse. Since this also affects scrap metal gathering rates (I literally am getting close to nothing now, even at the supposed normal infinity rate), you progress most in the game by... not playing it at all.

Oh you are still nerfing the game. I knew I wasn't imagining it when I did less damage with the attack boost upgrade. I also was taking stupid amounts of damage as well. Maybe it's balance to you, but that's not fun to me.

While I like the simplistic gameplay, I dislike that the only form of difficulty comes from "instant death". While I don't have good rhythm, I can see when my presses/clicks outright don't register. It becomes fairly annoying to keep failing when there is no 2nd chance and it isn't my problem.

Well, I've only gained a couple levels... but I like that I can grind each character or push forward. It's a bit slow paced, but I'm a sucker for turn based RPGs. It feels like there's a lot to this game; will come back to play it for fun later.

sachindra54: Just because a game is always updating doesn't mean a game will improve. The developers have had several, several months to change their game to the benefit of the players. They haven't changed it at all, and continue to do exactly the same things the vast majority of people have problems with. Those that aren't part of the vast majority are the ones spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on the game; exactly what the developers want to listen to.

I'll say I do like the changes and updates you've made to the game. I also like that you do respond to the players; both are great things. However... I'm going to say only updating the game if you receive support (which I assume to be positive feedback), especially after you already have plans on what you wish to do with your game, is not right. Barring other reasons, having an update that isn't well received means you could "threaten" to not update and/or change the game anymore. I know I'm going off a rather extreme example, but really, make the game into what you want it to be. Whether that accounts for feedback is your choice. Then, hope your players agree with your decision. This would make your game stand out in what is becoming a rather saturated type of game.

Developer response from Yotsuba83

We only base updates on what you guys are suggesting so they should be well received. If we released an update that wasn't well received we'd make instantaneous adjustments based on common complaints. Like yesterday I had gold for buy 10,50,100 set to show you the total amount of money you will spend if you can't afford the full amount, we received like 5 comments a minute complaining about it so I removed it so it only displays the full amount. I don't have much room to type a book in these comments so I can't express my meaning clearly but basically we are only nervous about our game dropping off the "hot new game" list and ending up on like page 10 of Kongregate's main site due to the rating, meaning playcounts will drop significantly so, from a time perspective, it would be better spent trying to develop a new game that can take the lessons learned from Idle Conquest and try to make something awesome. We aren't going to abandon a game that's still getting all these plays a day.

I understand needing money. I really do. However... having game progress/options made intentionally slower, more grind heavy, and "limited" for the purpose of adding in-game purchases was, and still is, one of the worst things to ever happen to games. For that reason alone... despite the solid, simple, and addictive gameplay underneath, I cannot recommend this game.

ctghost: Please play the game first before rating. Given your reward pack, I know you didn't play the first tyrant all that much. Therefore, you may not understand just how bad this game is compared to the first one. For me, who received a better loyalty package than you, it's "take everything bad about the first one, and make it much worse".

There actually is a mute button, but only on the deck page. This type of flaw shows how much care these developers have for the actual game over your money.

I kind of feel sorry for those people that actually think this is a great game. There are several "free to play" games out there that actually let you play it for an infinite amount of time while giving you enough in rewards to complete what's available. Considering how you can also buy full fledged games for cheaper than the cost of the cheapest real money cost things in this game, it's sad knowing they simply refuse to play something better.

Diminishing earnings in a game where you can only progress by purchasing upgrades is among the worst kinds of forced play time extension. The game is good quick fun, but minimum 5 times as long as necessary with this terrible design decision.

I was hoping my 300k long run after reaching level 2 would unlock all sorts of levels... but that was wishful thinking it seems. "Leveling up" via specific achievements one at a time only hinders the actual player when he/she has to do it again.
