I have used my hat powers for evil, I can never be the same.
REVIEW: Solid platformer, 5/5 for the falling exit bug. Seriously, don't take it out.
Real Review: Solid platformer 4/5. It's more puzzle then platform and the collectibles can be a little obvious to find. Then again, I've played a lot. Music is nice and mellow, so when you screw up it isn't insulting. Love how you can put your hat on Faust. Simple and fun, could use a little bonuses though, it is a collect-a-thon. (Five stars for the falling bug!)
What is this?! What is this?! This doesn't feel right!!! It feels like I'm cleaning someones room!! *goes to 3d levels* Well, this is okay. I think I like this. *rotary pieces* Psh I can handle this. *colors* NOPE, I CAN'T TAKE IT. I NEED TO SLEEP. (I did manage to finish this before jumping onto the nearest couch.)
A card based game with 3d models and animation? I have a headache, but it's not from the game. I actually like it a lot. The art is nice and the animation is very charming. The issues I have with this game is the tutorial for being too long (seriously, are you marketing to 6 year olds?), and that it's on Kongregate. I like it, so it's a good game. It's just not great that it's completely intended to be on a mobile device. No matter how you look at it, it screams to be touched by hand. It's great that it's here, but sadly it feels wrong. It's a shame; and although I am charmed by this game, I'm here for the badges. Also this thing eats at my computer, can't handle the graphics. On another note sped up animations take away from the charm and should just be replaced by idunno, portraits or something.
Fantastic game. Though it feels more suited on a touch screen, it would be nice to manually map some boxes to buttons. Two buttons would be enough. There have been a few times I have missed but would have had the timing down had there been mapped keys. Just saying for those mouse impaired. I usually only have things to say if it's a bad game, so I got nothing. Good game, solid puzzles, good use of color, and ambient music that goes into bass and beats. Came in with no expectations, left content, good game.
"What?! We're adding another conveyor line?! Alright! Throw out everything!" I honestly don't understand why whenever I make a small change, all the metal just disappears from my foundries.
Well it's a good puzzle game, more relaxing than challenging. The only issue I have with this is that you can only move each piece one space then a set path. Alternative controls would be nice as well and binding keys to rotate would be nice (space bar+left click to rotate). Rotating was the only issue for me, sometimes I thought I clicked it but I know deep down I missed the hit box. Something about the rotating mechanic rubs me the wrong way, but if it works it's not broken. No real major issues, I'm just complaining because I can. It's honestly okay by it's self and nothing needs to be changed. Feels more like an easy badge then a medium.
Alright, I'll give it to you this time, it's okay. Still doesn't feel like a puzzle game, but the quantity works. The pixel find feels more lenient and that is very acceptable. Now what I did like from the first game which is all over this one is the dynamic and numerous use of stars, it really looks great and I love it. (Because honestly in the first game it didn't feel like any work was put into it...) Pro mode feels like I'm using an etch-and-sketch, I'm terrible with those things and the thought of it is very entertaining. Before I was pretty against your games, but after this one I can say this is actually relaxing and fun.
This is supposed to be a game? To be honest this felt more like an art piece than a game. Moving your mouse to find the picture isn't a puzzle, it's also annoying how pixel perfect you need to be when you know what the picture is. I've played games that don't have a badge that actually satisfy for a badge, and honestly, I don't think this game deserved a badge. Also there's a lot of catholic religion all over this thing, I'm not uncomfortable with it, but I'm uncomfortable with it.
Oh yeah, I also forgot to say add timers to spirit and buffs. Jumping and attacking with GS should do more damage, moving while stabbing should do more damage, stationary while casting should have faster casting time and more damage. Last time I post I swear... (crosses fingers)
What would I like to see in your next title should it be in the same style? Well, probably a more detailed portrait of the character. I like the chibi look but that portrait doesn't seem to convey well for me, I would have preferred a static portrait, but you could keep with an animated one. Each door you pass through should be more intimidating than the last, also dynamic music as you get further would be aaaaawesome. Learning how to use that hit box is nice, but I get the feeling most don't get it. So you might need to fine tune that attack animation a little bit.
So the game is alright. Yeah, alright. Some gripes here and there drop the overall experience. It's pretty boring at first, so stick with it because the fun happens later. Now for gripes, flying enemies, that's what the super is for. Speaking of supers, it would help if there was a light (doesn't need to flash) to indicate it's ready. The shop menu seems a little clunky to scroll through, do like the descriptions and illustrations. I seem to be getting locked into a run bug when I exit the talent menu.
So nearing level 30 and I have to say, not having a bad time. The game does a good job keeping you around, actually encouraging you to play then spend money. It's a nice touch being able to earn the hard currency (diamonds) now and then rather then only in blue moons. However, the gripes start to appear when you play competitively. I play normally, as in I'm not around for this 24 hours a day and not throwing money at it. So really the Head to Head function will become difficult to progress upward as now the strong are getting stronger with all that lovely time on their hands. Don't have a problem with that, but what I do have a problem with is the Arena function. "win Essence Shard daily" yeah, as if I can do that. Level does not equal Battle Rating. I'll see if I can keep playing this any farther, it's doing it's best to keep me interested, but the novelty has started to fade. BTW $3000 will get you full VIP *mindblown*
This game actually feels okay to play. It's weird to say that since it's an MMO, but I'm glad I don't have to manage too much. Hero's come with a set gear you just upgrade, super happy I don't get cluttered with better gear to put on them. Upgrades stay too instead of being reset when you get better gear. The farm feels great, the whole combining thing makes it super efficient then tedious. The only problem I have with it is getting essence shards, then again I'm still pretty early in the game. Have to say though, not turned off. 4/5, sure P2W but doesn't force the whole thing down your throat and you can do everything in game without feeling like the P2W and free play gap getting too big.
Lucky Tower is fun and has it's own charm, which is very rare these days. But I still have my gripes. There's no audio options and you can't skip dialogue if you read fast. Forest running was good, but the second half could do without the foreground obstruction. I also encountered a second map, but I have no idea how that was caused, though it didn't hinder my game. But still, 5/5. Why? Mick. Lauer.
Thanks for playing and the review! :)
