Allowing the player to transmute items breaks the enjoy point of this game.
Or perhaps it's the mana regen that lets the player transmute things that breaks the game. I socket mana regen into every piece of gear I get because it's too good. Nothing else compares. What does it matter if you take 80 hp of damage a fight when you regen enough mana to heal that thrice over?
The harder difficulties don't scale very well at all.
I have a team of 5, all stats 99, but I cannot defend or recapture any villages once they have been captured from me. I can beat the dragon or the king without losing a single guy, but the random enemy stats are impossibly high.
Sorry, this game was just a mess. The text was nonsensical blather, and without any semblance of story to hold it together, the puzzles were just memorization games with random loud noises and seizure flashing.
You've done a lot better, Mr. Weir.
For anyone wondering about what happens when you win, since the plot left us all on a cliffhanger, the ending text is (spoilers)

What a silly decision to give you FOUR support items but only THREE slots. Is it supposed to be fun, or a puzzle, or a challenge as to which support item you are going to equip? I think not. It's really tedious and boring to switch back and forth when you are trying to get the sub-achievements for each city that require specific items.
This game is very fun, save for the church path. Is there no way to get out of it, once the ritual suicides begin? Why not just make you automatically lose, because when you are stunned 2 out of 3 turns, and you lose a survivor each of them too boot, you have about as much as a snowball's chance in hell of doing anything useful. What the tits?
The single greatest feature that could be added to this game is the ability to travel in a diagonal-sort of direction. 8 directions of travel as opposed to four makes a world of difference in the fluidity of movement.
The game didn't unlock the unlock for the promo game for the promo game for the game which would have helped me unlock unlocks on the game which the promo game is a promo game for.
I played through this game approximately 7 times in a row across varying difficulties attempting to get all the unlocks for legends. I got all the unlocks except one; the blood dragon robe, which, as my character is a mage and not a warrior or rogue, was what I needed. I received the robe, but it never appeared on my inventory on legends, so I AM DISAPPOINT, GAME. In short;
