It's easy to see that a lot of love and hard work went into this game... but trying to get anything out of that careful dedication is a challenge. I've played three full matches so far; but I've been fighting the confusing UI, the deceptive tooltips, and the plethora of unexplained mechanics far more than I've been fighting my opponent. I can see the potential for this game to be amazing, but it needs serious UI and UX work to realize that potential.

To everyone asking about the elemental symbols above health bars: Those are elemental immunities; you need to use a different element tower to damage that enemy. The FAQ (lower-right corner) answers that question, but very few others, and you'll need to ask the chat for A LOT of help.

Overall, this game seems like it has a lot of potential, if only it would give any indication of how to progress. I'm clearly supposed to have a lot of furniture, and I need a bigger home to put it all in, but there's no indication of how to get a bigger home, I even killed everything in up to the Goblin Camp (40/40) and STILL I haven't found anywhere that I can lay my head except for a random alcove.

Some initial feedback form a brand new player: The UI directed me to first go to challenge 1, instead of level 1-1. Many hints that were given only served to further confuse me at the time they were given. The explanation for allocating stat points went by too fast, so I have no idea what I'm missing. It also stopped my progress, I had to refresh the game to allow me to continue playing level 1-1 in the middle of the stat point explanation, even though the game did not freeze. In conclusion: The graphics are very pretty, but this game needs some serious work if it's going to keep any new players.

This game is a mash-up of so many different elements, multiplication stacking types, and experiments, that it really *REALLY* could have used an additional three or four months of development time to get even the basic stuff down. Basic stuff like making sure that speeding up the game doesn't change the underlying mathematics of damage. After spending just five minutes recording how far enemies progress, they go about 47% further into my territory on 6x speed than on 1x speed. In an incremental game, this is absolutely inexcusable: I should not be punished for using one of the most basic mechanics that the game offers.

Developer response from Barbasu

Speeding up does not change mathematics in any way o.O the issue with it is/was the fact that projectiles were going too fast and the physics did not detect collisions.

A nice, easy strategy is to pick Hokkaido (far upper right) and go with Soldier Laboratoy. Purchase Knights until you're full, then invade the next four areas, all placing more Soldier Laboratories. Then start replacing your ranks with 60% Samurai and 40% Medic. In all areas, place nothing but Giant Magnetic Fields, which activate on turns 15, 30, etc. Focus on slowly conquering while gathering your giant armies. Pretty easy victory.

For those wondering how they should build their ship: Guns are more efficient per $ spent, Missiles are more efficient per equipment slot. If you have four lvl 5 Magnets, you will catch any coin that starts at least 1/3rd of the screen away.

@jamezspr: There is only one cell in level 58 that is guesswork, (it's in a trivial region, so don't worry about it) and the rest can be deduced. The important thing for this level is that there are many regions where there are ONLY 2 possibly correct configurations, and you need to extrapolate from those effect each binary configuration would have on the surrounding cells to get the right choice.

@ZBlip, you might want to tell the player in Level 11 (the introduction of side hints) that the absence of a number along the side or in a square does not mean that it is 0. Introducing three new mechanics in a single level confuses people easily, especially if two of those are unannounced. (contrary to all other mechanics so far)

The 6-month old pizza I just found in my freezer and accidentally over-baked had more flavor than this game. The pizza's instructions had only one typo and was entirely in english, and the only thing deceitful about my pizza was a single piece of pepperoni that got burned because it was too close to the edge. 8/10 would bake random stale pizza from my freezer again.

Well, 666, it may be possible that you haven't unlocked Incantations or Inscriptions, so I'll just quickly summarize. Out of the 35 Endazu cards, only 15 can be interacted with by Bloodlust. Of those 15, 4 of them actually benefit from being attacked! Incantations has two cards that can remove an enemy's Bloodlust, which is cool. Inscriptions has a card that powers up when Bloodlust kills something, and even has a card that attacks back when Bloodlust is used! Each of them also has a card which creates large amounts of 1 or 2 health allies, and Bloodlust can only kill 1 of those at a time. Let us know how using Incantations and Inscriptions go when you unlock them.

[continuing] Therefore, instead of asking if there would be a notification when you're trying to purchase energy units over the displayed 100/100, wouldn't it be better to have a symbol that purchased energy units up to the input effectiveness? For example, it could be that inputting "%99" into the Lepidoptera purchase field could purchase Lepis until the effectiveness equals 99%. That would be a (from the user's point of view) simple way to convey the idea of exponentially increasing costs to exponentially decreasing effectiveness, as well as providing an easy-to-use way of purchasing up to the desired effectiveness's worth of energy units. It would be awesome if that got implemented.

@Timoteeei: I think you're not understanding reasons behind the formula for energy units. The base formula is effectiveness = #Units/(#Units+10000). Looking at the formula, the numerator will never become higher than or equal to the denominator. This means that no energy unit will ever become 100/100 effective. But, if an energy unit was 99.999999/100 effective, wouldn't it be simpler to display it as 100/100? That's what this game does, it rounds up the display in cases of extraneous precision, even though it's not exactly 100/100. So, when you're purchasing what appears to be over the displayed limit of energy units, you're actually inching ever-so-barely closer to 100/100. [continued]

@dandoron: The game's been getting regular updates, it just doesn't look like it because the "Updates" notes haven't been updated when the game has been. Maybe the patch notes are at a different site? IDK. But anyway, most of the recent updates have been quality-of-life changes that make it easier or simpler to use the game.

Oops character limit. Anyways: Note that because your allies' attacks are random, the targeted damage from skulls or "attack weakest" effects, or "ignore intercept" abilities become more powerful. If you want to be able to kill specific enemies easily, try using skulls more than ally attacks.

@krwary: This game has the most simple 'creature dealing basic damage' system of any card game I've seen, digital or otherwise. It works like this: On your turn, in random order allies activate. If they have text that says "On turn: ____" then they do that on their turn. If that is attack times X, then they deal X (or 1 if there is no X) single packets of damage to randomly chosen targets. Cards without hearts are not eligible to be targeted for attacks. If an ally kills an enemy but has attacks left, that enemy dies and is no longer eligible to be attacked. If the enemy has any living card with "intercepts" then it takes the damage packets that other enemies would have taken until it is out of health or charges. The enemy hero can only be damaged by ally attacks when there are no enemy cards with hearts or intercepts on the field. Note that because

@uberpenguin: Did you recently change the time that you want your daily quests to reset? In order to not have a daily quest exploit, the game extends the current daily quests up to 24 hours after they should have reset whenever you change the time you want them to reset. Alternatively, did you know that you can set your daily quests to reset at a specific time? IMO it's such a great feature that I think EVERY game with daily anything should implement it. All you have to do is click the "Change" button in the daily quests menu, then pick your time.

Zarby! It was (arguably) acceptable when you were posting at least one complaint a day about a feature that was annoying to you - even if your complaint would have been resolved by following the instructions of the dozens of people who responded to you. But now that your complaint has been 'fixed,' (and you even got 3 free gems to boot because of it) you continue to attack this game with comments that are entirely false: not a single one of the top 10 highest-rated comments for this game are anything relating to personal attacks of any sort! Take your deceptive and false words elsewhere - I have lost the last shred of respect I had for you, and I believe the rest of this community has as well.

@CaptC: That's completely intentional. If you were to feed magic to a gold panner, what would it accomplish? You've just turned a resource that can be used for anything into a resource that can only be used for one thing, and to add insult to injury, the resource it just was replicates the effect of the new resource. The designers purposefully prevent you from downgrading your resources into fewer options.

The game keeps um-muting itself after every other mission. I can't stand the constant military-sounding chatter when it is so loud, but when I finish every other mission it always un-mutes itself and I hear an extremely loud (FAR louder than anything else, even itunes at max volume, and I haven't changed any application sound settings) "Mission accomplished. *KRRRKH* Well done. KRRRKH*" Until this bug is resolved, I'm afraid to say that it's difficult to keep playing.

Thanks for reporting that one. I have just fixed it and uploaded version 1.0.2. I hope that now you could keep playing :)
