Ah yes, I recall playing this back in 1997. Except back then it wasn't filled with autoplay levels, the tires weren't coated in butter, there were no pointless exp/cash/daily systems, you could distinguish between back- and foreground, hitboxes were clear and it didn't constantly throw focus-losing "SHARE ME" -boxes at me. Also it was called Across (or Action SuperCross).
Starts promising, but greens nuking you offscreen + later stages becoming a clusterbleep of stasis-regen-repeat kind of ruins it. Beat the game on hard and I have no slightest idea what any of the enemies past level 4 (or so) even do.
Sky Queen + (Spiked) Tank will get you through every single level and challenge past 11 on hard with maybe one or two exceptions. 15 was a pain, getting both neurotoxin upgrades and spamming Tanks did the trick though. Easily a 5/5 title.
Avoid the last monster upgrade (if you're using Cezar?), it makes you prone to wasting your adrenaline when you're just trying to drop down through the floor.
Melee (NOT faeries/bandits/succubi) enemies can be cheesed by luring them behind bodies of water and poking them to death with ranged attacks (female characters start with one). Stick to hunts if you can, errand rewards are garbage.
What kind of madman allows me to kill monsters by jumping on them, a box-shaped boss slightly too tall to jump on, a jetpack and then expects me to not land upon said boss?
Having a total of 9 subdued/allied cities with Sparta, I attacked one of my allies for the heck of it while waiting for the 10th city to appear and somehow won the game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Even with the halved relation increases Sparta's ability to churn out generals makes it completely trivial to form alliances past a certain point (Alexander the Great or so). I had 10-ish generals and envoys combined by the time the 10th city popped up.
Dark Chroma Zones feels absurdly difficult compared to pretty much any other level. Apart from that, can't remember the last time an arcade game hooked me like this. Couldn't stop until 120/120.
You can add two of the same enchantment on an item by putting the piece of equipment and the crafting material on the forge. Leave the second material slot empty, forge the item and repeat.
"150 points", 5th attempt and the game still won't end once a team hits 150 points. (first time I went for almost 1k), also one of the teams is missing and for some reason some CPs can't randomly be captured. Yeah no.
Recon is VITAL, a bunch of unupgraded riflemen can handle massive amounts of infantry as long as you put your recon right in the front. Anti-armor has crazy range with recon so you can put those at the very back. Always upgrade your recon first, anti-armor second and riflemen last (prioritizing dead ones, upgrading revives them instantly). Especially in the early maps you might need two recons together to keep up with the vehicles, two upgraded recons are cheaper and more effective than one anti-vehicle recon, although they can't mark heavily armored vehicles. Don't bother with snipers, anti-tank specialists or infantry recon.
Confident victory requires you to ignore or refuse the poacher/zombie devil offer, win the fight on year 50 without using scrolls and then win the extra fight on year 51 (scrolls are allowed).
If you accept the offer or use a scroll on year 50 the game ends before year 51.
