I get to the next to last jump, brimming with excitement, when double jump decides to fail for the 30th time. Screw this, no badge is worth enduring the aneurism watching that little pixelated *#&%$ fall will cause. If it were my fault, sure, but when it simply doesn't jump when I tell it, it isn't a difficulty boost, but a design flaw. 2/5
The thing that makes the wall climb part so hard is the broken controls. For ten minutes, I've watched it randomly decide whether to jump when I hit the button, or wait a second until I'm falling all the way to the start. Starting to think it isn't worth the badge.
Not a bad game. The concept is fun, but the paywall is a huge problem. I had a blast the first game, some fun with the second, and only irritation at the third. The card pool is too limited to make freeplay an option for long, and when you are literally being asked to pay for some generic font slapped on a blue background, it sort of ruins things. Suggestion to combat this- allow people to either A) Earn coins for creating cards or B) Get a free card after creating X number of cards. This keeps things interesting and stops the paywall from being insurmountable. Good luck to the dev- he seems dedicated, so it is hard to fault him much.
Not a bad game by any means, but not worth more than 1 or 2 plays. The minigame aspects themselves weren't bad, but the lack of a logical "education" drop scheme and the baffling number of space invaders that show up as time progresses relegate it to a quickly played and quickly forgotten game. As is, 2/5. With some fine tuning of the education and endgame it could easily be 4/5. An end "boss" or something would definitely improve it.
Lost two full armies, a bunch of special units, and several blue items (+1 purple). Adding insult, the last several missions I beat were not cleared. Good ideas, but terrible execution. Won't be wasting anymore time on this black hole. Just glad I didn't waste any kreds on gold to buy items that disappear.
Loved it right up until the second time it glitched on the coin count and screwed me out of an incredibly hard coin level. 43/43 should not be red, and should definitely not glitch to 34/43 on main menu. Otherwise, enjoyable racer.
Ok, last comment. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong, and this is one of those times. While my criticism is still valid in the early game, once you learn to utilize abilities and upgraded weapons properly, the levels don't feel nearly as cheap or annoying. A fully upgraded sniper rifle and the ability that maxes view range when steadied turns the cheap jumper armies into easier prey. While this game could use a little hint system for early missions, I am forced to admit that it is not as horrible as I first believed. Mr. developer, you have somewhat of a convert. Upping rating to a 4, but strongly advocating the following: 1) Good early hint system to help players. Maybe just strategy tips after a death. 2) No attacks from "outside areas" because they serve no purpose beyond annoyance. 3) Radar upgrades to show secondary objectives like warehouses and atms.
Other than that, this actually turned out to be a rather enjoyable game.
Note to jagoffs telling us how to feel about this game/express those feelings: You don't have to read our comments. We are not required to enjoy every aspect of every game, nor are we forbidden from saying such. Without complaints (and they are apparently extremely numerous on these issues) nothing will ever improve in sequels. If you don't like people complaining about your favorite games, get of the comp and play a round of hide-and-go-f*&k yourself. Maybe you can sleep through it...
20 Days on my second try. Tile health regeneration and a full purchase of floor 15 are the keys. Until then, get as many enemies as you can without extensive detours/unneccessary trap runs. Two rogues and a barbarian took the dragon first turn of the floor.
Fun, addictive game. A little tweak to the AI system to at least make them not randomly backtrack if you have anything other than a straight path would be great. Not very amusing watching one reach a turn that shifts one block left/right to divert around an obstacle, only to see them turn on their heels rather than taking the only forward path possible. Other than that, great job. 4/5
Horton- Not commenting on ridiculousness, but pure annoyance. The guns or some other projectile I could take, but the super-jump BS is just stupid. You can have hard waves without idiotic magic attacks. Getting hit 2-3 times by enemies attacking from beyond my field of vision and traveling in groups, forcing me to replay the entire level, is just not fun. If they were a rare enemy, like a licker in an RE game or a brute in Halo, it wouldn't bother me, but it is every f-ing map and in high numbers. Fighting them at night without prior knowledge of their location is just perturbing, especially when they kill you after 90% of the mission. To be fair, I'd say this game deserves about a 2.5/5, because it can be fun. Unfortunately, it just fails to achieve its potential most of the time.
Zombies using guns... Makes sense. Almost as much as the mega-jump thing some of the enemies do. That's just brilliant. Another dev confuses "difficult" with annoying. I so love playing an entire level over thanks to cheap shot, uber-jumping, pistol wielding enemies. What next, tiny black zombie spiders that drop down behind you? 2/5
Don't know what all these people are talking about with the whole divine edge thing. I beat several dragons with fully upgraded sword+armor+elixer (well-timed). In fact, with that combo, I survived every dragon encounter. Just upgrade wisely and you don't need divine edge for anything.
I appreciate the developer response from you Uunxx. I did read the description, but from what I gathered, this was meant as a "snapshot" and, in that sense, I just don't think it was successful in doing what you wanted it to (getting donations). I realize this is just one opinion, but I strongly suggest you either just take this down or, preferably, replace it with a somewhat improved version. Ideally, if a "classic" mode is going to exist in the final product, that is what you'd want to include as a demo. If you just had a 2d map with 6 factions on a large map, I believe you would increase donations heavily.
Despite my critical response, I would still really like to see another Hex Empire. Your first one is one of the best games I've played, and not just in terms of flash games. I sincerely wish you luck in getting this game off the ground.
Thanks for your remarks, I understand your point of view. Looking at my donations I guess I will have to found the game myself, because I'm not going to work on this demo anymore. This was meant to be really just a mini-game. Because of current stage of development is not far from basic graphic engine I just packed what I had and added simple rules, that won't even exist in HE3. If it was meant to be a part of actual HE3 I would title it Hex Empire 3 Alpha or something, but this is just a little game based on the engine, with different title to emphasize this fact. Perhaps it was a mistake but it will take too much time to make something closer to HE3 before my fundraising campaign ends, and I surely won't start the third campaign because it will look purely stupid. I think I will try this stuff with some other title I have on my mind so I will make use of this negative experience.
I love Hex empire 1. I still play it every week or so, just for a little strategic fun. If this is a good example of what to expect from Hex Empire 3, I fear people will be just as disappointed as with HE2, the multiplayer abortion. The mechanics seem to have taken a step backwards, catering instead to a 3d map that is much harder to visually analyze in terms of city layout and best attack paths. Perhaps most disappointing is the reduced movement. Only 3 moves per turn, one hex per move is just annoying. I often found in HE1 that, especially near the end, even 5 moves made my eventual victory drag on as I moved enough troops to crush my last ai opponent. Sorry dude, but I don't think you'll be hitting that 5 grand goal if this is the anywhere near the finished product. I'd rather pay $5 for an old copy of Civilization:Revolution.
Real Hex Empire 3 will be more like Hex Empire 1 in terms of game play with some great additions. This is just simple mini game intended to bring some publicity for HE3 as I'm trying to get some founding for the development. Once again: "Killing by Numbers" is like HE3 in terms of graphic and **NOT** in terms of game play. I thought I stated it clearly enough in the introduction to the game (that nobody reads, I guess). I totally agree HE2 was not good enough (and it's probably reason I can't raise founds for HE3), just forget it, please.
Sooo, is this another nazi-fanboy comment section where anything not bowing before the awe-inspiring glory of the game gets your comment hidden? I only ask because this is, by far, the worst entry in an otherwise enjoyable series...
Decent game, if entirely unoriginal. I was soured to it by the sheer level of greed needed to have so many "premium" items. I'm glad flash game developers are learning from good role models like EA when it comes to game marketing. Just charge for parts of the game that you would've included for free a decade ago; it's not like that is a total d-bag move or anything. The saddest thing is, I feel certain a multitude of fools actually paid for it. I loathe you, Arkuni, and the human pocket lint that supports this kind of gaming model.
