I really wish the Archmage tower's ability to store shots was anything but embarrassingly useless. Watching him store three shots, then blow his load on a wasp is REALLY frustrating. There really needs to be a delay on when he fires his stored charge, a split-second longer than the shot's maximum travel time.
A few small improvements could've made this game WAY more fun. A "send all" button, and NOT pulling me out of my attack screen when a retake announcement comes up are the main two. Also, the retake mechanic seems to do little more than annoy the player in exchange for free money they don't need.
I think this game could've been just a tiny bit improved by keeping the bar on the side from the smoke ring tutorial level that shows the timing for the rest of the game. Doesn't really affect the difficulty, but I don't sit around wasting twenty minutes on one easy switch because I keep getting the timing wrong.
Just realized my "s" key is broken so I basically can't play the game now that I have have four floors. (And to those that would point out all the "s" I just used, I have it c/p'd to my keyboard.) FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Requiring 6 comments about room service is a kind of annoying goal. Totally doable, but annoying. The random nature of what the patrons say makes this a completely luck-based mission.
Also, am I the only one to immediately go download Through the Fire and Flames just to relive that first magic Audiosurf run and/or beating it in Guitar Hero III?
Chaining Ramp-to-Rail and Rail-to-Ramp is a quick recipe for SERIOUS point cheese, especially on songs with high intensity where there's going to be ramps everywhere. I don't even actually TRY to hit the notes.
So, I'm nearing the end, and I have one complaint. Everything is either very positive, or just standard and thus not worth griping about, EXCEPT one thing. The targeting options. Literally none of them are ones I actually WANT to use. Closest? Worst default targeting I've ever seen, which is probably only the default because it's the lesser of all these evils. Least HP? Everyone will be kill-stealing each other, and many shots will whiff. Most HP? Enemies at low HP will escape because your guys were too dumb to finish them off. Fastest? Shots actually have the capacity to miss at long range, making fast targets dangerous to target. Armored? Why would you intentionally aim for the guys who take the most damage to kill without taking less lives away? Stealthed? Valid, but many units can't shoot stealthed units. WHY IS THERE NO OPTION TO JUST SHOOT THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE END? THIS IS ONE PLACE WHERE INNOVATION IS NOT JUST NOT WANTED, BUT A STEP BACKWARDS.
I think what really saves this game is the music. Don't get me wrong, it's a solidly-made, fun TD, but nothing too special. The music, however, pretty much gives me no choice but to play or else I don't get to listen to it anymore. Unlike Kingdom Rush, I DON'T just turn the music off then turn on Pandora.
After having beaten this game, not on the challenge times though, I gotta' say, one of the most awesome, rewarding experiences you can have in ten minutes.
