If you were to expand this, with, say enemies and more difficult terrain, I would want to have a little more control. Perhaps A and D provide a little torque like in many 2D racing games. It should be still less than shooting provides, but you could get some control with constant torque and small bursts of shooting. Then you'd want some upgrades, like a rocket launcher add on, but the ammo for it is limited; or perhaps a scope that lets you see farther but only in a narrow cone (i.e. you pan back, significantly and can see the whole board, but all but your cone is dark. It would be good for finding the enemies and planning an attack.)
LOL. It certainly seems that shooting give more torque than speed whenever you are facing the way you want to go, and the opposite when you are facing away. I realize that this is from the shape of the gun and was intentional, but it took a while for me to work out. A fun and silly game, but if it were much longer, I'd be frustrated with the controls.
3p0ch's trick worked for me on 27, also. Since I couldn't figure out any other way to get past the level, I hope that wasn't what I was supposed to do. It definitely seemed to break the rules.
Thanks for a fun game. Someone else complained that overbalancing an ice block means it might fall. I think that's a great feature. My one complaint is that the freeze ray so often fails for no reason that I can tell. I'm trying to freeze a block that is still above me, so it isn't hitting the ground. In one case, it froze a different block from the one I had just shot. I guess I'd prefer it not be a ray, but just a connection to your last cube you shot and freezes it, whether or not you still have a direct line to it.
In spite of my somewhat frustrated comments in my other post, I did like the game. You have some clever puzzles and some good sideways thinking. Thanks!
I'm usually a big fan of these sorts of games, but I'm having issues with this one. Two problems: the background clapping is so annoying that I had to turn off sound, and now I'm constantly worried that I'm missing audio clues, please separate sound effects from "music" in what you turn off. Second, some of them require too much work just to try an experiment. For instance, I'm currently on 19, and just trying something takes hundreds of clicks. I had detected already what the hint tells me, and that didn't help. I tried the obvious of setting all the letters to the letters of LOVE, which of course you have to finagle the order of the letters. A couple hundred clicks later, that didn't help. I mean, it is probably a manageable number of clicks if you already know what you're going for, but since I don't, I have to do experiments, and i don't have the patience to do more than 2 of them, when they take so long.
Hi, Level 19 takes a lot of thinking and work, I agree. Though I can't share the solution here. I've updated the hint to make it even easier to understand. And I've removed the click sound from that level too. Thanks for playing.
You seem to have no control over the bounces. If you catch the ball with the middle of the paddle or the edge makes no difference, nor does putting spin on the ball. When the boss appeared and game restarted, the ball was already below the half way point and headed down. I had no chance.
Well, I guess I'm done. I hope you've found these helpful. 35 was the first one I thought was challenging and interesting enough. 40 took me several tries, because I wasn't patient. Then 43 felt like just another tutorial level, again. Still, this is not bad for your first game. I suggest these changes in order: 1. Change the name (see my other note). 2. Give all balloons faces to represent their status, so it's not just color. 3. Go through and delete every level after 8 which is just boringly obvious. I quit at 43, so maybe they get more interesting after this, but you need more interesting and challenging ones.
29 was just illogical. You have to wait for the spiked bar to LAND before you can blow it far enough. I kept trying to time it so I got maximum push on the bar, and it was never enough when the bar is still in the air and likely to catch the full brunt of the explosion. But when it is too low really to catch the explosion, and it is resting on spikes, which makes its coefficient of static friction the maximum, THAT's when it works?
Ok. Works on Chrome, now. A few comments:
1. Change the name, I was expecting an Escape Game. Balloon Freedom or something like that works.
2. Make the game a couple of pixels smaller than the frame. Right now, it decides to put in scroll bars, which makes it need scroll bars.
3. Levels 9 and 10 were annoying. They were basically beginner tutorial levels, just as the tutorial was complete. I was ready for something interesting.
4. Level 13, there was no indication that the bar of spikes was attached and therefore would move to the side.
5. A better "evil balloon" indicator would be good. Not just for the colorblind, but also just for memory and fun. An evil face, perhaps.
6. Again, 22 just feels like a tutorial level, of lessons we've already learned.
A good game, but I'm stumped. I have the red USB device, a full cup of coffee, and a couple of clues I don't know what to do with. I keep getting told that the solar panel isn't getting enough light, but the blinds won't stay open. That seems the obvious way to get more light in here.
Just a touch too much farming. Also, it needs an auto-shoot so I don't have to hold the mouse button down all the time. Especially after a couple of speed upgrades, there's never a reason not to be just shooting all the time. The bosses and the bigger guys, at least, could use health bars.
Pretty much all your font and color choices for text are making the game worse. Also, it says that there are chests to find, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to find them. You should start out with one right away, with instructions, "Click here. This is a chest. You'll find more and want to click every one" just so the user knows what to look for.
